We are excited to help you meet your nutritional warming needs. With the
Ameda Deluxe Single-Well or Four-Well Penguin®Nutritional Warmers, you can
safely warm feedings and protect vital nutrients.
The Ameda Deluxe Nutritional Warmers work with the patented design Ameda
Therma-Liner®which isolates the feeding container from the water while
providing an encompassing kangaroo-like warming environment using water to
safely transfer heat.
For any questions regarding your Ameda Deluxe Penguin Nutritional Warmer,
CustomerCare™is available during business hours 8am-5pm CST on weekdays
at 1.877.99.AMEDA (26332). Have your serial number for warmers and lot

used with the following words stand for:
WARNING Can lead to serious injury or death.
CAUTION Can lead to minor injury.
IMPORTANT Can lead to material damage.

WARNING: To avoid fire, electrocution, serious burns or injury.
• ENSURE the power cord is easily accessible and removable, in the event of an
emergency requiring immediate and total power disconnection.
• DO NOT use the equipment in a manner not specified.
• DO NOT use AC power source that applies more than 132 V AC between the
supply conductors or between supply conductor and ground.
A protective ground connection by way of the grounding conductor in the power
cord is required for safe operation.
• DO NOT use parts or accessories other than those that are recommended by
the manufacturer.
• USE ONLY the power cord and connector appropriate for the voltage and plug
configuration in your country.
• If the equipment appears damaged or operates abnormally, protection may be
impaired. DO NOT attempt to continue operation. When in doubt, have the
equipment serviced.
1. WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical products, the following basic safety precautions should
always be followed.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS
PRODUCT
DANGER: To reduce the risk of electrocution:
• DO NOT place or store where warmer can fall or be pulled into a sink.
• DO NOT place or drop warmer into water or other liquid.
• DO NOT reach for electrical product that has fallen into water. Immediately
unplug from electrical outlet.

CAUTION: Can lead to minor injury.
• DO NOT use Therma-Liner
• for more than one shift, not to exceed 12 hours
• on more than one patient, baby, or child
WARNING: To avoid fire, electrocution, serious burns or injury:
• ALWAYS operate warmer on a flat, horizontal surface.
• Close supervision is necessary if product is used near children or infants.
• Use product for its intended use ONLY, as described in this manual.
• Prior to use, always inspect power cord for damage or exposed wires. If damage
and/or exposed wires are found, DO NOT use and call Ameda CustomerCare
at 1.877.99.AMEDA (26332).
• NEVER operate electrical warmer
• if it has a damaged cord or plug
• if it is not working properly
• if it has been dropped, damaged, or becomes wet without being properly
and fully assembled
• ALWAYS keep cord away from heated surface.
• ALWAYS ensure the power cord is disconnected before cleaning or servicing.
• ALWAYS ensure the voltage of the power cord is compatible to the power
source.
• ALWAYS ensure the power cord is inserted in a socket-outlet with a protective
earth contact for grounding. Intentional AC interruption is prohibited.
• ALWAYS ensure servicing is performed by qualified service personnel only
using the Manufacturer’s Service Manual. There are no user-serviceable parts.
IMPORTANT: Can lead to material damage.
• NEVER put electrical product in water or a sterilizer, as you can cause
permanent damage to the nutritional warmer.
• DO NOT use abrasive cleaners/detergents when cleaning the nutritional
warming unit or accessories. CaviWipe™ or SaniWipe™ are recommended for
surface cleaning.
• DO NOT use sharp objects on the device buttons or wells.
• DO NOT use Therma-Liner for more than one shift or 12 hours.
• DO NOT overfill or under-fill Therma-Liner.
• There are no user-serviceable parts. Please ensure servicing is performed by
qualified service personnel.

2. INTENDED USE
The Ameda Penguin®Nutritional Warmer is intended to warm feedings to a range
that includes body temperature.
3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Penguin Nutritional Warmer
Your Penguin Nutritional Warmer is customized with settings and warming profiles
according to your unique facility needs. In addition, the gentle vibration of the
nutritional warmer helps preserve and suspend feeding nutrients and promote even
warming.

4. SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
4.1 PREPARING THE WARMER
1. PLACE warmer onto a stable, flat, horizontal surface.
2. PLUG the power cord into the power source.
3. CONNECT the power cord into the back of the warmer device.
4.2 CUSTOMIZING ROOM/BED/POD INFORMATION
1. FLIP the power switch into the on position.
2. PRESS and HOLD the bottom navigation button.
3. FOLLOW the on-screen instructions to ENTER up to 5 spaces for Room, up
to 5 spaces for Bed and up to 5 spaces for Pod:
• +abc/123
• =return to previous entry
• -abc/123
• Enter button=advance to next entry
• On/Off button=edits complete, return to Standby mode
4.3 MODES
STANDBY MODE
The Penguin Nutritional Warmer will be in Standby mode and cycle through the
following screens whenever powered on and not warming:

WARMING MODES
Fridge to Feed
Feed Temp: range of 90-100°F/32-38°C
Average Time: 5-12 minutes depending on volume
Frozen to Feed
Feed Temp: range of 90-100°F/32-38°C
Average Time: 10-18 minutes depending on volume
Thaw
After Thaw Temp: range of 38-45°F/3-7°C
Time: 15-25 minutes depending on volume
READY TO FEED MODE
The feeding is ready when the screen background turns green similar to the
following:
The Remaining Hold Time displays a countdown of the remaining hold time.
The warmer emits a ready tone at the beginning of the mode and periodically
throughout. The warmer will keep the feeding in a safe temperature range for 30
minutes (until turned off, returned to Standby mode, or extends to Overtime mode).

THAW COMPLETE MODE
When the Thaw feature is used, the feeding should be removed immediately
to prevent over-warming.
The warmer emits a ready tone.
The heater immediately shuts off, and milk must be refrigerated.
WARNING: Milk must be refrigerated immediately.
The screen background will turn green and the following phrases will appear on
the screen:
OVERTIME MODE
After 30 minutes in Ready to Feed, the warmer will enter Overtime.
Warming and vibration will turn off.
The screen background will turn red and the word "Overtime" will appear in the
middle of the screen:
The Overtime screen will remain on until the unit is turned off or is returned to
Standby by pushing the On/Off button or Enter button.
Note: As the manufacturer, we recommend not using the feeding after
the 30 minute hold time, but that feeding should be handled according
to the hospital policy.
DISPLAYED ERRORS
If the Penguin Nutritional Warmer encounters an error, the error will be displayed
on a red screen with a warning tone. If this should occur, discontinue use of the
warmer and call Ameda CustomerCare at 1.877.99.AMEDA (26332).
1. At the beginning of a shift, take out one Therma-Liner per user.
2. Using a permanent marker, enter the following information onto the Therma-Liner:
a. Patient Information b. Date/Time c. Information
3. Open the water compartment (blue zipper) and fill to water line.
4. Pinch one end of the blue zipper between your thumb and forefinger and slide
down the length of the zipper to close the water compartment.
5. Repeat to ensure a proper seal. This compartment will remain sealed for the
duration of the 12 hour shift.
Note: Use care when removing and re-inserting milk container to
prevent damage to interior of water compartment.
4.4 THERMA-LINER PREPARATION

Inspect the product for damage. Do not use if damaged.
Call Ameda CustomerCare at 1.877.99.AMEDA (26332).
6. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Flip the power switch into the on position.
2. Press On/Off Button to begin.
3. Scroll to the warming mode of interest:
a. Room Temperature/Fridge to Feed
b. Frozen to Feed
c. Thaw
4. Advance by pressing Enter or Confirm (green check)*
*Note that if a wrong entry was made, you may press the Go Back selection
button to go back a screen.
1. Scroll to choose the container type and size of interest.
2. Press Enter.
3. Only when ready to begin warming the feeding, place the feeding container
into the inner compartment (orange zipper) of the Therma-Liner and push it to the
bottom. Press firmly along the entire orange zipper to encompass the container as
much as possible. Use care when removing and re-inserting feeding containers to
prevent damage to the interior water compartment.
4. Place the prepared Therma-Liner in the well with the sealed opening at the top.
5. Press Enter*.
6. The device will begin warming, vibrating, and alternating screens between the
profile selected and elapsed time.
7. When the feeding has been warmed to a range that includes body temperature,
the device will enter Ready to Feed mode.
8. Please remove the feeding from the Therma-Liner and set the Therma-Liner
aside until next use during the shift.
9. Press On/Off to return the Penguin to Standby mode.
*Note that if a wrong entry was made, you may press the Cancel selection
button to go back a screen.
5. INSPECTING BEFORE OPERATION
6.1 WARM REFRIGERATED OR FROZEN FEEDINGS

6.2 THAW FROZEN MILK TO COOL LIQUID STATE
CAUTION: THE PENGUIN NUTRITIONAL WARMER IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR
THAWING LESS THAN 15 ml of BREAST MILK IN STORAGE BAGS!
1. Scroll to choose the container type and size of interest.
2. Press Enter.
3. Only when ready to begin warming the feeding, place the feeding container into
the inner compartment (orange zipper) of the Therma-Liner and push it to the
bottom. Press firmly along the entire orange zipper to encompass the container as
much as possible. Use care when removing and re-inserting feeding containers to
prevent damage to the interior water compartment.
4. Place the prepared Therma-Liner in the well with the sealed opening at the top.
5. Press Enter*.
6. The device will begin warming, vibrating, and alternating screens between the profile
selected and elapsed time.
7. When the feeding has been warmed to a liquid cool state, the device will enter
Thaw Complete mode.
8. Please immediately remove the feeding** from the Therma-Liner and set the
Therma-Liner aside until next use during the shift.
9. Press On/Off to return the warmer to Standby mode.
*Note that if a wrong entry was made, you may press the Cancel selection button to
go back a screen.
**If there are still some frozen particles in the feeding, let it sit until the remainder
thaws, or rotate the container gently to thaw the rest of the way. It is better to have
a few remaining ice crystals than to overshoot the refrigerated range. Any portion
that is meant for immediate feeding may be placed in a bottle or syringe for further
warming. Feeding for the future should be placed immediately in the refrigerator for
up to 24 hours. After 24 hours, it should be discarded.
7. CLEANING
1. Disconnect Power Cord from the wall receptacle.
2. Prepare reagent wipes (e.g. CaviWipe™ or SaniWipe™) containing
Isopropanol, Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether (2-Butoxyethanol),
Diisobutylphenoxyethoxyethyldimethyl benzylammonium chloride.
3. Using the prepared reagent wipe, clean and remove all surface debris from the
device, including the power cord.
4. Repeat as deemed necessary using a newly prepared reagent wipe each time.
5. After the last cleaning wipe is used, allow device to air dry for a minimum of 10
minutes or dry with a soft cloth before returning the device to service.

8. MAINTENANCE
The Penguin Nutritional Warmer requires no preventative maintenance.
9. SERVICING AND SPARE PARTS
All warmer service and repair can be accomplished by contacting Ameda.
CustomerCare will issue a Return Material Authorization (RMA) or provide your
facility’s biomedical department with parts needed to repair the warmer and return it
to operation.
10. WARRANTY
THE AMEDA WARRANTY IS NONTRANSFERABLE. THE AMEDA
PENGUIN NUTRITIONAL WARMER IS WARRANTED TO THE
ORIGINAL OWNER ONLY.
From the date of the purchase of this product, Ameda, Inc. (“Ameda”) warrants
the Product against defects in material or workmanship for a period of two
years. Ameda’s sole obligation under this limited warranty shall be to repair or
replace, at Ameda’s option, any Product that is determined to be defective by
Ameda and determined to be covered by this express limited warranty. Repair
or replacement under this limited warranty is the sole and exclusive remedy
of the First User. PROOF OF PURCHASE IN THE FORM OF A RECEIPTED
INVOICE OR BILL OF SALE EVIDENCING THAT THE PRODUCT IS WITHIN
THE WARRANTY PERIOD MUST BE PRESENTED TO OBTAIN WARRANTY
SERVICE. This limited warranty is extended by Ameda ONLY to the First User
and is not assignable or transferable. For warranty service contact Ameda at
1.877.99.AMEDA (26332).
EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE ON THE PRODUCT IS HEREBY DISCLAIMED. AMEDA SHALL
NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR
PUNITIVE DAMAGES OF ANY KIND FOR BREACH OF THE EXPRESS
LIMITED WARRANTY ON THE PRODUCT OR ANY WARRANTY IMPLIED BY
OPERATION OF LAW. OTHER THAN THE EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY SET
FORTH ABOVE, THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES THAT ACCOMPANY
THIS PRODUCT AND ANY ORAL, WRITTEN OR OTHER REPRESENTATION
OF ANY KIND IS HEREBY DISCLAIMED.
The user/owner of this equipment shall have sole responsibility and liability
for any injury to person or damage to property resulting from: 1) Operation
not in accordance with supplied operating instructions, 2) Maintenance not
in accordance with authorized maintenance service instructions, 3) Service
by anyone other than manufacturer authorized qualified service personnel,
4) Modification of the equipment or accessories and 5) Use of damaged or
unauthorized components and accessories.

s’il tombe, est endommagé ou mouillé en raison d’un assemblage
inadéquat ou incomplet.
• TOUJOURS garder le cordon à l’écart des surfaces chauffées.
• TOUJOURS s’assurer que le cordon est débranché avant de nettoyer ou de
réparer l’appareil.
• TOUJOURS vérifier que la tension électrique du cordon est adaptée à la
source d’alimentation.
• TOUJOURS s’assurer que le cordon est inséré dans une prise de courant
munie d’un conducteur de masse protecteur. Il est interdit de couper le courant
c.a. de façon intentionnelle.
• TOUJOURS faire réparer par du personnel d’entretien qualifié qui ne suive que le
manuel d’entretien du fabricant. Aucune pièce ne peut être réparée par l’utilisateur.

SaniWipeMC sont recommandés.
• NE PAS utiliser d’objets tranchants sur les boutons ou dans les cavités de
l’appareil.

Le chauffe-lait PenguinMD Ameda est destiné au chauffage du lait à des
températures semblables ou égales à la température du corps humain.
3. DESCRIPTION DU PRODUIT Chauffe-lait penguin
Les réglages et les profils de chauffage du chauffe-lait Penguin peuvent être
adaptés pour répondre aux besoins uniques de votre établissement. Sa légère
vibration aide à préserver et à suspendre les nutriments du lait, en plus d’assurer
une chaleur uniforme au liquide.

4. INSTRUCTIONS DE MONTAGE
4.1 PRÉPARATION DU CHAUFFE-LAIT
1. PLACER le chauffe-lait sur une surface stable, plane et horizontale.
2. BRANCHER le cordon dans la source d’alimentation.
3. CONNECTER le cordon à l’arrière de l’appareil.
4.2 PERSONNALISER LES RENSEIGNEMENTS SUR LA CHAMBRE,
LE LIT OU LA COUCHETTE
1. METTRE l’interrupteur en position de marche.
2. APPUYER et MAINTENIR le bouton de navigation du bas.
3. SUIVRE les directives sur l’écran pour ENTRER jusqu’à 5espaces pour
chambre, 5espaces pour lit et 5espaces pour couchette:
• + abc/123
• = revenir à l’entrée précédente
• - abc/123
• Bouton Entrée = aller à l’entrée suivante
• Bouton On/Off = terminer les modifications, revenir en mode Veille (Standby)
4.3 MODES
• Lorsqu’il sera activé, sans toutefois chauffer, le chauffe-lait Penguin se placera en
mode Veille (Standby) et présentera tour à tour les écrans suivants:

MODES DE CHAUFFAGE
Du frigo à l’allaitement (Fridge to Feed)
Température du lait: plage de 32-38°C/90-100°F
Temps moyen: de 5 à 12minutes, selon la quantité
Du congélateur à l’allaitement (Frozen to Feed)
Température du lait: plage de 32-38°C/90-100°F
Temps moyen: de 10 à 18minutes, selon la quantité
Décongélation (Thaw)
Température après la décongélation: plage de 3-7°C/38-45°F
Temps: de 15 à 25minutes, selon la quantité
MODE PRÊT À BOIRE (READY TO FEED)
Le lait est prêt lorsque le fond de l’écran vire au vert, comme dans ces illustrations:
Le temps restant de maintien (Remaining Hold Time) indique le décompte de la
période pendant laquelle la chaleur est maintenue.
L’appareil émet une sonnerie au démarrage du mode et à intervalles réguliers
le long du décompte. Il garde le lait dans une plage de température sécuritaire
pendant 30minutes (jusqu’à ce qu’il soit arrêté, remis en mode Veille (Standby), ou
maintenu en mode Prolongation (Overtime).

MODE DÉCONGÉLATION TERMINÉE
Une fois la tâche de la fonction Décongélation (Thaw) terminée, retirer aussitôt le lait
pour éviter qu’il surchauffe.
L’appareil émet une sonnerie pour indiquer que le lait est prêt.
Il se désactive ensuite, et le lait doit être réfrigéré.
AVERTISSEMENT: Il faut réfrigérer le lait dès qu’il est prêt.
Puis, le fond d’écran vire au vert et ces messages apparaissent:
MODE PROLONGATION (OVERTIME)
Après avoir passé 30minutes en mode Prêt à boire (Ready to Feed), le chauffe-lait
entre en mode Prolongation (Overtime).
Le chauffage et la vibration cessent.
Puis, le fond de l’écran vire au rouge et le mot «Overtime» apparaît au centre:
L’écran de prolongation (Overtime) demeure jusqu’à ce que l’appareil soit arrêté ou
remis en mode Veille (Standby), en appuyant soit sur le bouton On/Off, soit sur le
bouton Entrée.
Remarque: En tant que fabricants, nous déconseillons d’utiliser le lait
après la période de 30minutes, mais recommandons tout de même de
suivre la politique de gestion du lait prônée par l’hôpital.
MESSAGES D’ERREUR
Si le chauffe-lait Penguin rencontre une erreur, un message apparaîtra sur fond
rouge, accompagné d’un avertissement sonore. En de telles circonstances,
cesser d’utiliser le chauffe-lait et contacter le service à la clientèle d’Ameda, au
1-877-99-AMEDA (26332).
4.4 PRÉPARATION DU THERMA-LINER
1. Au début du quart de travail, sortir un Therma-Liner par utilisateur.
2. À l’aide d’un marqueur permanent, y inscrire les renseignements suivants:
a. Renseignements du patient
b. Date et heure
c. Autres renseignements
3. Ouvrir le réservoir d’eau (fermeture à glissière à pression bleue) et le remplir d’eau
jusqu’à la ligne de remplissage.
