Informational Alarms
The informational alarms do not immediately stop the operation of the pump. They allow the
caregiver to correct the condition without an undue or prolonged stoppage of the desired therapy.
In both situations the unit will continue to run normally for a finite period of time. If not addressed,
in time the unit will stop operating depending on the condition.
Low Battery Power: (3 beeps every minute)
●To correct this alarm, plug the WoundPro control unit into an outlet to recharge the battery.
The battery is recharging whenever the unit is plugged into an electrical wall outlet.
Canister Full: (3 beeps every minute) canister full
●Alerts the caregiver the canister is nearly full.
●To correct this alarm, pause the pump and replace the canister.
●Unit will eventually stop operating if canister reaches a full condition.
Warning Alarms
These alarms alert the caregiver of a situation requiring their immediate attention. These conditions
directly aect the ability of the system to deliver therapy.
The increased frequency of the warning alarm sounds clearly dierentiates these conditions
from the informational alarm conditions.
Suction Line Blocked: (3 beeps every 5 seconds) line blocked
●To fix this alarm condition pause the pump and replace the canister and tubing. If condition
persists aer canister replacement, the dressing and its tubing may also need to be replaced.
Vacuum Leak: (3 beeps every 5 seconds) vacuum leak
●The unit will continue to run for the first 30 minutes of a vacuum leak alarm. If the alarm cause
is not addressed within 30 minutes, the pump will stop and the alarm will continue to sound.
●To correct this alarm condition, check to ensure:
❍The canister is properly attached to the control unit.
❍The extension tubing is securely attached to the canister.
❍The drain tubing is securely attached to the extension tubing.
❍The dressing is sealed around the wound and drain tubing.
Standby Alarm
Standby: (Rapid triple beep aer 30 minutes of non-operation) standby
❍If the WoundPro Unit is le in the Standby Mode over 30 minutes, an alarm will sound to
alert the user to correct the condition. To disengage this alarm, the user can either resume
therapy or power down the unit if therapy is no longer required.
Warning Alarms need to be addressed as soon as possible. The therapy is stopped or lessened as long as the cause of
the alarm is not corrected. If you are unable to correct the cause of the alarm contact the physician for instructions.
If you are unable to reach the physician, contact an emergency room for assistance.
Additional Precautions – Additional care should be taken when using the WoundPro on patients taking
anticoagulants or platelet aggregation inhibitors, patients with active bleeding, patients with wound hemostasis,
patients that have a history of irradiated blood vessels, wounds that involve a fistula, wounds with sinus tracks,
wounds with tunneling, or when using the WoundPro in close proximity to blood vessels or organs.
Failure to obtain and follow instructions from the treating physician could result in injury or death.
