Congratulations and thank you for purchasing our
S.P.O.T.™ training collar. The S.P.O.T.™ (Signaling.
Protecting. Obedience. Trainer.), much as the name
suggests, was designed to signal you and others as to the
whereabouts of your dog in low light conditions (morning
and evening hours when you are frequently out walking
your dog). Our Night Sight™ Illumination Technology with
super bright LED lighting and reflective collar strap make
this possible and protect your dog by making the dog highly
visible and easy to see. The S.P.O.T.™ features D.T.
Systems’ own Vibration Assist™ Technology to help train
your dog with a vibrating collar option that gets your dog’s
attention and greatly aids in training sessions. The collar
also features a 900 yard range with our MAXX-Range
360™ Technology (internally imbedded collar antenna) for
positive 360° reception no matter the conditions. The collar
unit has our SmartLED™ system which let’s you know when
charging is complete and how much charge is left during
use.
At D.T. Systems, dogs are our passion. Spending time with
our best friends requires thoughtful care and training. It
also in ol es a responsibility to teach, respect, and protect.

leased. Pressing the red Vibration Assist™ button on
the left side will make the collar vibrate until released.
PARTS & FUNCTIONS
Transmitter Antenna
Be sure to check that the antenna is securely fastened
to the transmitter before each use. Hand tighten only.
Be careful when screwing the antenna into the trans-
mitter. Over-tightening the antenna can cause dam-
age to the antenna or the antenna mount.
Magnet Indicator (Red Dot)
The red dot indicates the magnet location
and is used to turn the collar receiver ON/
OFF and for ID programming.
Transmitter LED Indicator Light
When any of the buttons on the transmitter is pushed,
the red LED light will turn on to indicate that the trans-
mitter is being operated. If the red LED light blinks
rapidly after pressing any of the transmitter buttons,

collar will brightly reflect light pointed at it. See page
15 for more information on the proper fit of the collar.
Collar SmartLED™ Indicator Light
When the collar receiver is turned on, the SmartLED™
light will flash green once every two seconds if the
rechargeable battery has 51% to 100% charge left and
flash red once every two seconds if it has 21% to 50%
charge left. The SmartLED™ light will double flash
red when the battery needs charging. The
SmartLED™ light stays lit red while plugged into the
charger and turns green when charging is complete.

9
Battery Charging Receptacle
The battery charging receptacle is located on the
bottom side of the collar box. Always close with the
rubber plug after charging to prevent foreign particles
from getting inside the charging receptacle.
NOTE
The unit is still waterproof even if water gets into the
charging receptacle. However, if water should get in, we
recommend rinsing out the charging receptacle and allow-
ing it to dry, especially after use in salt water. This will
prevent premature corrosion in the metal pins inside that
make contact with the charger plug.
Magnetic On/Off Switch Indicator (Red Dot)
The red dot indicates the location of the
magnetic power switch in the collar re-
ceiver and is used to turn the collar re-
ceiver ON/OFF and for ID Programming.
PARTS & FUNCTIONS
CAUTION
If your collar belt is too long , we recommend looping the
excess Collar Belt back around through the buckle. We
DO NOT recommend cutting the collar belt. Cutting the
collar belt too much will reduce the range of your collar
receiver. However, if you must, the collar belt can be cut
up to about 3 inches without affecting the range greatly.
Collar Belt with MAXX-Range 360™ Antenna
The embedded collar antenna is woven into the bright
orange reflective collar belt and runs the entire length
of the belt. The MAXX-Range 360™ antenna gives
the collar receiver 360˚ of clear signal reception.

SmartLED™
**Charging Error - If the SmartLED™ has a long blink
every other second while charging, the rechargeable battery
pack may need to be replaced. New batteries may also
initially give an error light. Contact D.T. Systems if the
problem persists after a few charging sessions.
S.P.O.T.™ collars are equipped with the SmartLED™
battery status system. The SmartLED™ system lets
you know when the collar receiver is charging and
when the charging is complete. It also gives you a
status on how much charge is remaining in the battery
during use, when it needs charging, and when the
batteries will need to be replaced.

unit will go into a trickle charge to prevent overcharging.
However, it is recommended that you remove your unit from
the charger as soon as charging is complete.

11
S.P.O.T.™ collars are equipped with rechargeable
Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries, which are not
memory sensitive and do not require depletion before
recharging. Although batteries come partially charged
from the factory, it is recommended that they are given
a full charge (up to 12 hours) before initial use.
* The transmitter uses a 9-volt replaceable battery (not
included). Be sure to pay attention to the “+” and “-”
terminals when inserting the battery.
NOTE: Rechargeable batteries typically last about 2-5 years
on average depending on use and care. Keep batteries
away from flammable substances. DO NOT OVERCHARGE.
See page 17 for more information on battery maintenance.
CHARGING THE COLLAR BATTERIES
Battery Charging Procedure
1. Make sure the unit is off.
2. Plug the wall charger into a
standard electrical outlet.
3. Connect the single-jack cable to the charger and
plug the end into the collar receiver. The
SmartLED™ should light solid red while charging.
. Charging is complete when the SmartLED™ turns
green (may take up to 12 hours).
5. When charging is complete, disconnect the battery
charging cable from the receptacle, securely replace
the rubber charging receptacle cover, and test unit.
WARNING: DO NOT C ARGE W ILE UNIT IS WET!

12
TURNING ON AND OFF
The transmitter is always in a permanent sleep state.
It is only ON when a button is being pressed and does
not need to be turned off by the user. If the transmitter
does not activate, make sure you have a good battery
installed.
NOTE
If the red LED on the transmitter flashes rapidly after any
button is pressed, the 9-volt battery may need to be re-
placed. If the SmartLED™ on the collar unit double-
flashes while ON, the unit will need to be recharged. If the
SmartLED™ double-flashes soon after a full charging ses-
sion, the rechargeable battery may need to be replaced.
Turning the Collar Unit ON/OFF:
Turning the collar unit ON and OFF
uses the same procedure:
1. Hold the transmitter magnet
indicator (red dot) directly against
the magnetic activation switch (red
dot) on the front side of the collar unit.
2. The SmartLED™ indicator will light solid for about
a second and then start flashing. Remove the
transmitter from the collar unit when the
SmartLED™ light begins to flash.
If the collar unit has been turned ON, the SmartLED™
will flash approximately every other second. If the
collar unit has been turned OFF, the SmartLED™ will
no longer be flashing.

13
TESTING
To Test the Vibration
1. Hold the collar unit in your hand.
2. Press the red Vibration Assist™ button on the side
of the transmitter.
3. The collar unit should vibrate while the button is
being pressed.
NOTE: Before testing, make sure that the transmitter
has a good battery and the collar unit is fully charged
and “ON”.
NOTE
If the collar unit is not responding to any signals from the
transmitter, the collar may need to be reprogrammed to
the transmitter (see page 14).
To Test the Night Sight™ LED Lights
1. To test the “LITE” function, press
the “LITE” button once and the two
LED lights on each side will light up
at 50% brightness. Press “LITE”
once more for 100% brightness.
Press “LITE” once more for blink/
strobe. Press “LITE” again to shut off the lights.
2. To test the “BLNK” function, press and hold the
button. It should blink/strobe while you are holding
it down (for up to 8 seconds). The intensity level of
“BLNK” is controlled by turning the dial from levels
1 through 16 to control the brightness level.

1
PROGRAMMING
If your collar unit is not responding to the transmitter, it
may need to be reprogrammed to the transmitter. If you
ever need a replacement transmitter or collar unit,
reprogramming will also be needed.
1. Select the desired collar selecting switch position
(toggle switch located on top of transmitter).
2. Hold the transmitter magnet indicator (red mark)
directly against the magnetic switch indicator (red
mark) on the front of the collar receiver.
3. The SmartLED™ light inside the collar receiver will
light up solid for about 1 second, followed by 6
flashes. You must keep the transmitter next to the
collar receiver during this time.
. Continue to hold the transmitter against the collar
receiver until the SmartLED™ light stays on solid.
The collar receiver is now in the Code Running Mode
(the SmartLED™ light will stay lit for approximately 8
seconds while it is in this mode).
5. Remove the transmitter from the collar receiver
and press the LITE and BLNK buttons simultaneously
while it is in the Code Running Mode.
6. When the SmartLED™ blinks 3 times, the Collar
ID is programmed and the collar receiver is now ON.
NOTE – Do not move the transmitter magnet indicator
from the collar receiver magnetic switch indicator until
after the SmartLED™ stops flashing and stays on solid
or the collar receiver will not go into the Code Running
Mode. You must press the LITE and BLNK buttons
simultaneously while the SmartLED™ is lit solid.

15
NOTE: Proper collar tightness
and position are very important to
insure effective use.
The S.P.O.T.™ collar must be put
properly around your dog’s neck
to insure that your dog can feel
the Vibration Assist™ feature.
Adjust the collar accordingly and
tighten so that you can still get
two fingers under the collar
(between the collar and the dogs
neck your fingers should fit, but snugly). If the collar is
too loose, your dog may not be able to feel the collar
vibrating through the fur.
•
Place the collar unit high and tight on your dog’s
neck with the collar receiver box centered below the
neck (See image above). Placing it at the wider
base of the neck can let it travel up to the narrower
part of the neck while your dog is moving, loosening
as it goes.
•
It should be tight enough to fit two fingers between
the collar belt and your dog’s neck, but not tight
enough to restrict your dog’s breathing.
NOTE - You can rotate the collar for better visibility
from the lights. However, please note that gravity may
make the collar rotate down. Also, if your dog goes
under obstacles, the collar unit may hit or snag on the
obstacle.
PROPERLY FITTING THE COLLAR

16
Setting BLNK - The intensity selection knob on top of
the S.P.O.T.™ transmitter controls the Night Sight™
brightness settings of the “BLNK” function on your
system. To adjust BLNK brightness, turn the knob to
your desired selection of 1-16 for varying levels of
brightness. While holding down the “BLNK” button
you will notice the intensity of the light increase as you
go up from 1-16 levels.

NOTE -
Battery life is greatly affected when leaving the
S.P.O.T.™ Night Sight™ illumination on high constant
light for long periods of time. To maximize battery life, set
the unit to low light or strobe if using for long periods of
time without charging. Charging the battery is recom-
mended after each extended use of the Night Sight™ LED
lights. Also, as the battery ages, usage time will diminish.
The Night Sight™ LED system consists of two bright
LED lights located on each side of the collar receiver.
Each light is capable of producing around 21 Lumens,
or 2 Lumens total (when set at 100% brightness).
Setting LITE - Press the “LITE” button once and the
Night Sight™ LED light on each side will light up at
50% brightness. Press “LITE” once more for 100%
brightness. Press “LITE” once more for blink/strobe.
Press “LITE” again to shut off the lights.
General Battery Charge Life with LITE Function
Constant Light at 50% Brightness 2-3 hours
Constant Light at 100% Brightness 1-2 hours
Blinking Light at 100% Brightness 2-3 hours

17
CAUTION
Dispose of batteries properly by calling your local
waste service.
MAINTENANCE
It is important to periodically clean your S.P.O.T.™

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES
• Before training with this unit, your dog’s health
should be examined by a veterinarian. This training
device is not intended for dogs that are overly
sensitive to extreme external stimuli, such as
flashing lights.
•
••
•
Your S.P.O.T.™ training collar is a very valuable tool
if used correctly. It is extremely important that you
completely understand all the functions of the collar
and how to properly train with it before placing it on
your dog.
• Test your system before placing the collar unit on
your dog(s) to help prevent possible interruptions
and inconsistencies during training and field time.
• Never leave your dog unattended with the unit
on. Since no electronic device is perfect, there is a
very slight possibility that your dog may receive an
unintentional vibration.
• It is important to keep the collar clean. Clean the
collar unit regularly with a mild anti-bacterial soap.
• Do not point the lights directly at your eyes, your
dog’s eyes, or anyone else’s eyes in close proximity.
• If you suffer from epilepsy, do not look at the flashing
lights.
