Vielen Dank, dass du dich für den Petromax Atago entschieden hast. Wir sind überzeugt, dass du viel
Freude an deinem Petromax Atago haben wirst und hoffen, dass du ihn in seiner ganzen Vielfalt beim
Draußen-Kochen und -Grillen erfahren und anwenden wirst.
Wichtige Hinweise
Lies diese Gebrauchsanleitung vor dem Gebrauch deines Petromax Atago aufmerksam durch.
Beachte insbesondere die Sicherheitshinweise. Bewahre die Gebrauchsanleitung sicher auf,
sodass du sie bei Verwendung des Petromax Atago jederzeit griffbereit hast. Übergib sie auch
an weitere Nutzer des Atago.
Verwendete Begriffe
Die in dieser Anleitung verwendeten Begriffe Brikett und Holzkohlebrikett beschreiben handelsübliche
quadratische Holzkohle (Maße: 6 x 6 x 3 cm).
Produktbeschreibung
Der Atago ist ein multifunktionaler Alleskönner, den du individuell bei deinen Draußen-Kochabenteuern
einsetzen kannst, egal, ob beim Grillen, Backen, Kochen oder zum Ausklang des Tages als Feuerschale. Die
Anwendung ist ausschließlich für den Außenbereich gedacht. Das Funktionsprinzip des Petromax
Atago basiert auf dem sogenannten Kamineffekt – eine vertikal gerichtete Luftströmung, die Hitze
konzentriert. Dadurch wird nur eine sehr geringe Anzahl an Briketts benötigt, die durch diesen Effekt
schnell durchglühen und den Atago einsatzbereit machen. Gleichzeitig bleibt die Hitze sehr lange im
Atago gespeichert. Bei der Nutzung des Atago als Feuerschale profitierst du von einem sehr effektiven
Verbrennungsprinzip – dem Holzvergaserprinzip. Dabei kommt das Feuer durch die unteren Luftlöcher
schnell in Gange, entstehende Rauchgase werden durch die Doppelwand nach oben geführt und direkt
verbrannt, wenn sie an den inneren Löchern entweichen. Diese doppelwandige Konstruktion des Petromax
Atago sorgt für eine ideale Sauerstoffzufuhr im gesamten Brennraum. Dank der Sekundärverbrennung
kommt es zu einer verminderten Rauchentwicklung, das Feuer bleibt lange am Leben und es bleibt nur
wenig Asche zurück. Der im Atago befindliche Kohlerost ermöglicht ein problemloses Platzieren des
Feuerholzes und der Kohle.

Sicherheitshinweise
• Verwende den Petromax Atago ausschließlich im Freien. Er darf keinesfalls in geschlossenen Räumen
verwendet werden, da Brandgefahr und Erstickungsgefahr bestehen.
• Achtung! Der Atago und alle seine Teile (Kohlerost, Grillrost) werden bei Verwendung sehr heiß.
Stelle sicher, dass sich keine Kinder und Tiere in der Nähe des heißen Atago aufhalten, und lasse den
Atago bei Gebrauch niemals unbeaufsichtigt.
• Verwende keinesfalls mehr als 30 Briketts gleichzeitig, da dies zur Überhitzung des Geräts führt und
gegebenenfalls Materialschäden am Atago entstehen können.
• Beachte die jeweils geltenden Brandschutzbestimmungen und halte diese ein.
• Platziere den Atago vor Inbetriebnahme möglichst windgeschützt auf einem ebenen und stabilen
Untergrund.
• Nimm beim Feuermachen in der Natur Rücksicht auf die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt sowie auf Natur-
schutzgebiete. Halte immer einen Abstand von mindestens 50 Metern zum Wald und zu Gebieten
mit dichter Vegetation.
• Wenn du handelsübliche feste Grill- oder Feueranzünder einsetzt, wie beispielsweise das Petromax
Feuerkit, beachte die Hinweise auf der Verpackung.
•
Verwende aus Sicherheitsgründen keinesfalls Flüssigbrennstoffe, wie beispielsweise Benzin, Terpentin
oder Spiritus, zum Anzünden oder Wiederanzünden. Diese Stoffe entzünden sich explosionsartig
und sind zum Teil gesundheitsgefährdend und umweltschädlich.
• Gib niemals Zündflüssigkeit oder mit Zündflüssigkeit getränkte Kohle auf heiße oder warme Kohle,
da es sonst zu einer Verpuffung in Verbindung mit einer Stichflamme kommen könnte.
• Achte darauf, dass der Atago in Betrieb einen Sicherheitsabstand von 1,5 m zu brennbaren Mate-
rialien aufweist.
• Bewege den Atago nicht, während dieser in Gebrauch oder noch heiß ist.
•
Vorsicht beim Nachlegen von Brennmaterial! Wir empfehlen das Tragen von hitzebeständigen
Petromax Aramid Pro 300 Handschuhen.
• Trage während der Inbetriebnahme des Atago und beim Einstellen der Lüftungsöffnungen zur
Temperaturregulierung stets hitzebeständige, feuerfeste Handschuhe. Wir empfehlen die Petromax
Aramid Pro 300 Handschuhe.
• Verwende eine Grillzange, um das Brennmaterial zu positionieren oder neues nachzulegen, z.B. die
Petromax Grill- und Kohlenzange.
•
Deine Kleidung sollte bei der Nutzung des Atago möglichst nah am Körper anliegen. Vermeide lange,
weite Ärmel, da diese Feuer fangen können.

• Entferne die Asche erst dann, wenn diese vollständig erkaltet ist und verwende keinesfalls Wasser,
um die glühenden Kohlen zu löschen. Dies kann zu Spannungen im Material führen, Risse verursa-
chen oder Schweißnähte zerstören. Zudem würde das Wasser-Asche-Gemisch an möglicherweise
schwer erreichbare Stellen im Atago spülen. Das Wasser-Asche-Gemisch kann dort Rost verursachen.
• Halte für den Notfall immer einen Eimer Sand oder einen Pulverfeuerlöscher bereit.

Aufbau
Bei der ersten Verwendung des Petromax Atago kann das Aus- und Einfahren der
Zylinder etwas schwergängig sein. Wende keinesfalls Gewalt an, um die Zylinder
aus- oder einzufahren.
Der Petromax Atago verfügt über ein durchdacht konstruiertes System, das ihn binnen weniger Sekun-
den einsatzbereit macht. Befolge die aufgeführten Schritte, um den Atago betriebsbereit zu machen.
• Greif den Henkel mittig.
• Zieh den Henkel vorsichtig und mit nur leichtem Zug nach oben, sodass der innere Zylinder und die
drei Standbeine ausfahren.
• Stelle den nun betriebsbereiten Petromax Atago vorsichtig auf einem stabilen, hitzebeständigen
und ebenen Untergrund ab.
Vorbereitung und Inbetriebnahme
Verwende keinesfalls mehr als 30 Briketts gleichzeitig und nutze keine Flüssiggrillan-
zünder, um eine zu intensive Hitzentwicklung zu vermeiden.
Der Petromax Atago ist in kürzester Zeit bereit für deine Grill- und Kochaktivitäten. Verwende stets
festen Grillanzünder. Die Anzündquelle ist dadurch kontrollierbar und durch den Kamineffekt geht der

Anzündprozess besonders schnell. Nutze in keinem Fall flüssige Grillanzünder, um mögliche Brandgefahr
durch das Herauslaufen des Flüssigbrennstoffs aus dem Atago zu verhindern.
So bereitest du deinen Atago optimal vor und stellst sicher, dass die Holzkohlebriketts richtig durchglühen:
Öffne die Luftzufuhr vollständig, sodass die maximale Luftzufuhr gewährleistet ist. Schiebe den Luft-
zufuhrhebel dazu nach rechts außen.
Setze den Kohlerost auf die dafür vorgesehenen Einsätze. Verwende den Petromax
Atago niemals ohne Kohlerost!
Gib je nach Bedarf festen Grillanzünder auf den Kohlerost des Petromax Atago.
Zünde den festen Grillanzünder vorsichtig an.
Gib anschließend die gewünschte Anzahl an Briketts (max. 30 Briketts) mit einer Kohlenzange auf
den Kohlerost.
Warte, bis die Briketts vollständig durchgeglüht sind und die typische weiße Farbe aufweisen. Dies
kann je nach Brikettanzahl und Brikettgüte in der Dauer variieren.
Der Petromax Atago als Grill
Im Lieferumfang des Petromax Atago ist ein Grillrost aus Edelstahl enthalten. So kannst du nach Belie-
ben Fisch, Fleisch und Gemüse darauf zubereiten. Hier finden zudem auch Feuertöpfe, -pfannen und
Sonderformen Platz, die sich nicht im Atago positionieren lassen.
So gehst du vor, wenn du mit dem Atago grillen möchtest:
Stelle sicher, dass die Briketts vollständig durchgeglüht sind.
Bestreiche den kalten Grillrost ggf. mit etwas hocherhitzbarem Öl (kein Olivenöl). Lege den kalten
Grillrost anschließend am oberen Rand des Atago auf und lasse ihn dort ca. 3-5 Minuten erhitzen.
Lege das gewünschte Grillgut mit einer Grillzange auf den Grillrost.
Reguliere die Temperatur nach Bedarf mittels des Luftzufuhrhebels.

Der Petromax Atago als Herd
Der Petromax Atago lässt sich ideal mit den Petromax Feuertöpfen kombinieren, um sowohl deftige
Fleischgerichte als auch Eintöpfe und Aufläufe zuzubereiten. Für die meisten Gerichte benötigst du
nicht mehr als 6 Briketts Unterhitze. (Abhängig von der Größe des Feuertopfes) Die Feuertöpfe ft6
und ft9 sitzen passgenau im Atago. Kleinere Gusstöpfe und -formen lassen sich im Inneren des Atago
positionieren. Alle Feuertöpfe und Pfannen, die sich nicht in oder passgenau auf den Rand des Atago
stellen lassen, finden auf dem Grillrost Platz. Du kannst Feuertöpfe mit und ohne Füße, Feuertopfdeckel
als Pfanne sowie sämtliche Petromax Pfannen auch auf das separat erhältliche, passende Kochkreuz
für den Atago aufstellen.
Heißgetränke, wie Kaffee oder Tee lassen sich ebenfalls mit Hilfe des Atago zubereiten. Dafür eignet
sich der Petromax Perkolator, den du einzeln in den Atago, aber auch auf dem Grillrost oder das separat
erhältliche Kochkreuz stellen kannst.
Der Petromax Atago als Ofen
Um den Atago als Backofen nutzen zu können, kannst du sowohl mit entsprechender Brikettzahl in
Kombination mit den Petromax Feuertöpfen arbeiten als auch mit der separat erhältlichen Umluftkuppel.
Ober-/Unterhitze erzeugst du, indem du die entsprechende Brikettzahl unter den Feuertopf und auf
den Feuertopfdeckel gibst. So kannst du Brot, Kuchen oder Aufläufe zubereiten.
Bei Verwendung der Umluftkuppel nutzt du wie gewohnt Kohlen als Unterhitze. Für die Hitze von oben
stülpst du die Umluftkuppel über den Atago. So lassen sich Gratins, Tartes oder Pizzen ideal zubereiten.
Achtung Verbrennungsgefahr! Der unter der Umluftkuppel entstehende Dampf ist sehr heiß. Halte
daher Abstand beim Anheben und schütze deine Hände mit hitzebeständigen Handschuhen. Wir
empfehlen die Petromax Aramid Pro 300 Handschuhe.
Bitte verwende entweder die Umluftkuppel oder Ober-Unterhitze mittels Brikettver-
teilung – keinesfalls beides gleichzeitig, da sich eine viel zu große Hitze entwickeln
würde sowie die Umluftkuppel durch glühende Kohle beschädigt werden würde.

Der Petromax Atago als Feuerschale
Neben der Funktion als mobile Kochstelle ist der Petromax Atago auch eine transportable Feuerschale.
So kannst du einfach und sicher im Freien ein offenes Lagerfeuer mit handelsüblichem Feuerholz
machen. Auch hier profitierst du vom effizienten Holzvergaserprinzip mit raucharmer Verbrennung.
Achte auch hierbei darauf, ausreichend Abstand zu brennbaren Gegenständen einzuhalten und den
Atago auf einen feuerfesten Untergrund zu stellen.
Abbau, Pflege und Lagerung
Mit einem Handgriff lässt sich der Petromax Atago nach dem Gebrauch wieder einfahren und ins
nächste Abenteuer transportieren.
So setzt du deinen Atago außer Betrieb:
Lass die Kohlen vollständig abkühlen bzw. das Holz ganz herunterbrennen, sodass sich keine Glut mehr
im Atago befindet und das Gerät gänzlich erkaltet ist.
Entferne die Roste und reinige sie mit einer handelsüblichen Grillbürste aus Messingborsten (keine
Stahlborsten).
Beseitige mit einem Handfeger die Aschereste gründlich von den inneren Seitenwänden des Atago.

Umfasse mit beiden Händen die gegenüberliegenden Bereiche des äußeren Zylinders und ziehe ihn
langsam nach oben, um den inneren Zylinder und die Standbeine einfahren zu lassen.
Drehe den Atago um und entsorge die restliche erkaltete Asche ordnungsgemäß.
Reinige den Atago anschließend mit einem Tuch. Solltest du den Atago feucht ausgewischt haben,
trockne ihn mit einem trockenen Tuch gründlich nach.
Verwende bei der Reinigung keinesfalls scharfe Gegenstände und/ oder aggressive
Reinigungsmittel. Wir empfehlen den Petromax Bio-Reiniger für Ruß- und Feuerspuren.
Achte darauf, alle Aschereste gründlich zu entfernen, denn Asche in Verbindung mit Feuchtigkeit führt
zu einer chemischen Reaktion, die auch auf Edelstahl zu Rost führen kann. Verstaue den Atago daher
an einem sicheren, trockenen, für Kinder unzugänglichen Ort.
Wir empfehlen, den Petromax Atago in der passenden Petromax Transporttasche zu
verstauen, um diesen vor äußeren Einflüssen effektiv zu schützen. Mit der Petromax
Transporttasche kannst du den Atago auch optimal auf deinen Abenteuern transpor-
tieren.
Gewährleistung
Bei sachgemäßem Gebrauch erhältst du auf deinen Petromax Atago eine Gewährleistung von zwei
Jahren ab Kaufdatum. Das betrifft nicht die Verschleißteile. Lässt sich dein Petromax Atago aufgrund
von Schäden am Material oder Herstellungsmängeln nicht einwandfrei benutzen, hast du Anspruch
auf Nachbesserung. Setze dich dazu mit deinem Händler in Verbindung.

Important instructions
Please read this user manual carefully before using your Petromax Atago. Pay particular atten-
tion to the safety instructions. Keep the user manual for future reference so that you always have
it at hand when using the Petromax Atago. Please also pass it on to other users of the Atago.
Terminology
The terms briquette and charcoal briquette in this manual refer to commercially available, square-
shaped pieces of charcoal (dimensions: 6 x 6 x 3cm).
Product description
The Atago is a multifunctional all-rounder. It is perfect for your outdoor cooking adventures whether you
are grilling, baking, cooking or using it as a fire bowl for a nice end to the day. This product is intended
for outdoor use only. The design of the Petromax Atago is based on the chimney effect – the air flow is
directed vertically to concentrate the heat. As a result, only a very few briquettes are needed. They will start
to glow quickly thanks to this effect and the Atago is ready for use in no time. The Atago also stores heat
for a very long time. When using the Atago as a fire bowl you benefit from a highly effective combustion
principle – the wood boiler principle. The fire quickly gets going thanks to the ventilation holes at the
bottom. The resulting flue gases are directed upwards through the double wall and are combusted at the
point where they escape through the inner holes. The double-walled construction of the Petromax Atago
ensures optimum oxygen supply throughout the combustion chamber. Thanks to secondary combustion
smoke formation is minimal, the fire stays alive for a long time and very little ash is produced. The charcoal
grate provided with the Atago eases placing firewood and coals inside.

Safety instructions
• Only use the Petromax Atago outdoors. Do not use indoors. Fire hazard and danger of suffocation!
• Caution! The Atago and all its parts (charcoal grate, grilling grate) become very hot when used. Keep
children and animals away from the Atago when it is hot and never leave the Atago unattended
when in use.
• Do not use more than 30 briquettes at once as this will lead to overheating of the device and could
damage your Atago.
• Comply with fire safety regulations.
• Before initial operation, place the Atago on an even and stable surface out of wind if possible.
• Show consideration to animal and plant life and to nature reserves when you start a fire outdoors.
Always keep a minimum distance of 50metres to forests and areas of dense vegetation.
• If you use a commercially available grill or fire lighter, such as the Petromax Fire Kit, please follow
the instructions on the packaging.
• For safety reasons, never use liquid fuels such as petrol, turpentine or methylated spirit to start or
restart a fire. Such substances can explode, are hazardous to health and harmful to the environment.
• Never pour lighter fluid or place charcoal soaked in lighter fluid on hot or warm coals. This could
cause explosive combustion in conjunction with a flash fire.
•
When in operation, ensure the Atago is a minimum distance of 1.5metres from flammable materials.
• Do not move the Atago when it is in use or hot.
• Be careful when adding fuel! We recommend wearing heat-resistant Petromax Aramid Pro 300
Gloves.
•
Always wear heat-resistant, fireproof gloves when using the Atago and adjusting the ventilation
openings to regulate the temperature. We recommend the Petromax Aramid Pro 300 Gloves.
• Use tongs such as the Petromax BBQ and Coal Tongs to position or add fuel.
• Wear close-fitting clothing when using the Atago. Avoid wearing long, wide sleeves because they
can easily catch fire.
•
Wait until the ash is completely cold before removing it. Do not use water to extinguish burning coals.
This can cause stresses in the material or cracks, or damage welded seams and joints. The mixture of
water and ashes would also get into potentially hard-to-reach parts of the Atago and cause rust there.
• Always keep a bucket of sand or powder fire extinguisher nearby in case of emergencies.

Setup
When using the Petromax Atago for the first time, the extension-retraction mechanism
may be slightly stiff. Do not use excessive force to extend or retract the cylinders.
The Petromax Atago has a cleverly designed system that makes it ready for use in no time. Follow the
steps below to prepare the Atago for use.
• Grasp the handle in the centre.
• Carefully and gently pull the handle upwards to extend the inner cylinder and the three support
legs.
• Now that it is ready for use, carefully place the Petromax Atagoon a stable, heat-resistant and even
surface.
Preparation and initial operation
Do not use more than 30 briquettes at once. Do not use lighter fluid to avoid generating
too intensive heat.
The Petromax Atago will be ready for you to grill and cook on in a very short time. Only use solid grill
lighter. Thus, the ignition source can be controlled, and the ignition process is particularly quick due
to the chimney effect. Do not use liquid grill lighter to avoid a potential fire hazard from liquid fuel
leaking out of the Atago.
Follow these steps to prepare your Atago effectively and ensure that the charcoal briquettes burn properly:
Open the air-flow system completely to maximise air flow. To do this, slide the air-flow regulation lever
to the outside right.
Place the charcoal grate in the designated place. Never use the Petromax Atago without
the charcoal grate!

Place solid grill lighter as needed on the charcoal grate inside the Petromax Atago.
Carefully light the solid grill lighter.
Use coal tongs to place the desired number of briquettes (max. 30 briquettes) on the charcoal grate.
Wait until the briquettes are completely glowing and covered with the typical white ash. The time this
takes will vary depending on the number and quality of the briquettes.
Using the Petromax Atago as a grill
The Petromax Atago comes with a stainless-steel grilling grate. This can be used to prepare fish, meat
and vegetables to your liking. There is also space for Dutch Ovens, Fire Skillets and special forms which
cannot be positioned inside the Atago.
How to grill with the Atago:
Make sure the briquettes are completely glowing.
If desired apply a thin layer of high-temperature oil (no olive oil) onto the cold grilling grate. Then place
the cold grilling grate on top of the Atago and allow it to heat up for approx. 3-5 minutes.
Use tongs to place food on the grilling grate.
Adjust the temperature if required using the air-flow regulation lever.

Using the Petromax Atago as a stove
The Petromax Atago is ideal for combination with Petromax Dutch Ovens to prepare savoury meat
dishes, stews and casseroles. For most dishes you will need no more than six briquettes for bottom
heat (depending on the size of the Dutch Oven). The ft6 and ft9 Dutch Ovens sit perfectly in the Atago.
Smaller cast-iron pots and forms can be positioned inside the Atago. Any Dutch Ovens and Fire Skillets
which do not fit in or on the rim of the Atago can be placed on the grilling grate. Alternatively, you can
place Dutch Ovens with and without legs, Dutch Oven lids as pans and all Petromax Fire Skillets on the
Cooking Support which is available separately and designed especially for the Atago.
It is also possible to prepare hot drinks such as tea and coffee with the Atago. The Petromax Percolator
is perfect for this and can either be used on its own in the Atago or placed on the grilling grate or the
Cooking Support (available separately).
Using the Petromax Atago as an oven
To use the Atago as a baking oven, you can work with the appropriate number of briquettes in combi-
nation with Petromax Dutch Ovens or with the separately available Convection Lid.
You create top/bottom heat by placing the appropriate number of briquettes under the Dutch Oven
and on the lid of the Dutch Oven. This allows you to make bread, cakes or casseroles.
When using the Convection Lid you use coals for bottom heat as usual. For top heat, place the Convec-
tion Lid over the Atago. This is ideal for preparing gratins, tarts or pizza.
Caution – risk of burns! The steam produced underneath the Convection Lid is very hot. Keep your
distance when lifting the Lid and protect your hands with heat-resistant gloves. We recommend the
Petromax Aramid Pro 300 Gloves.
Please use either the Convection Lid or top and bottom heat via distribution of briquet-
tes – do not use both at the same time as this would produce too much heat and the
burning coals would damage the Convection Lid.

Using the Petromax Atago as a fire bowl
Apart from functioning as a mobile cooking place, the Petromax Atago is also a portable Fire Bowl.
Thus, you can easily and safely start a campfire outdoors with commercially available firewood. Here
too you benefit from the efficient wood boiler principle with low-smoke combustion.
Always position the Atago at a safe distance from flammable objects and place it on a fireproof surface.
Retraction, care and storage
After use the Petromax Atago can be retracted easily ready for transport on your next adventure.
How to pack away your Atago:
Make sure the coals are completely cold or that the wood has completely burned down so that there
are no embers left in the Atago and the device has thoroughly cooled down.
Remove the grates and clean them with a commercially available brush with brass bristles. (Do not
use a steel brush)
Use a hand brush to remove ash residues from the inner walls of the Atago.

Grasp the outer cylinder with both hands at opposite sides and slowly pull it upwards to retract the
inner cylinder and the support legs.
Turn the Atago upside down and dispose of the remaining cold ash properly.
Then clean the Atago with a cloth. If you use a damp cloth to do this, dry the Atago thoroughly after-
wards with a dry cloth.
Do not use sharp objects and/or harsh cleaning agents to clean the Atago. We recom-
mend the Petromax Bio Cleaner for Soot and Fire Traces.
Make sure to remove all ash residues thoroughly. Ash plus moisture leads to a chemical reaction which
may cause rust even on stainless steel. Store the Atago in a safe, dry place out of reach of children.
We recommend using the suitable Petromax Transport Bag to stow the Petromax Atago
in order to protect it effectively against external effects. The Petromax Transport Bag
also allows you to transport the Atago safely and easily on your adventures.
Warranty
Under proper use, a warranty period of two years will apply to your Petromax Atago from the date of
purchase. This does not include wearing parts. If you cannot use your Petromax Atago properly due
to a defect in material or manufacturing, you are entitled to a warranty claim. Contact your retailer
for that purpose.

de la cuisine en plein air et pour vos barbecues.
Remarques importantes
Lisez attentivement ce mode d'emploi avant d’utiliser pour la première fois l’Atago de Petromax.
Tenez compte notamment des consignes de sécurité. Conservez le mode d’emploi dans un
endroit sûr, pour qu’il soit toujours à portée de main lors de l’utilisation de l’Atago de Petromax.
Remettez-le impérativement à tout futur propriétaire.
Termes utilisés
Les termes briquette et briquette de charbon de bois utilisés dans ces instructions décrivent du charbon
de bois de forme carrée disponible dans le commerce (dimensions: 6 x 6 x 3cm).
Description du produit
L’Atago est un appareil polyvalent que vous pouvez utiliser selon vos envies lors de vos aventures culi-
naires en plein air, que ce soit pour faire des barbecues, de la cuisine, des pâtisseries, ou comme brasero,
en fin de journée. L’Atago est destiné uniquement à une utilisation en extérieur. Le principe de
fonctionnement de l’Atago de Petromax est basé sur l’effet cheminée – un flux d’air acheminé vertica-
lement qui concentre la chaleur. Il ne nécessite que d’une très petite quantité de briquettes qui, grâce
à cet effet, chauffent rapidement et rendent l’Atago fonctionnel. Dans le même temps, la chaleur reste
emmagasinée pendant très longtemps dans l’Atago. Lors de l’utilisation de l’Atago, vous profitez d’un
principe de combustion très efficace, le principe de la gazéification du bois. En effet, le feu s’allume
rapidement grâce aux trous d’aération inférieurs, les gaz de combustion produits sont dirigés vers le
haut à travers la double paroi et brûlés directement lorsqu’ils s’échappent par les trous intérieurs. Cette
construction à double paroi du Petromax Atago assure un apport d’oxygène idéal dans l’ensemble de la
chambre de combustion. Grâce à la combustion secondaire, le dégagement de fumée est réduit, le feu
brûle longtemps et il ne reste que peu de cendres. La Grille à charbon de l’Atago permet d’ajouter du
bois de chauffage et du charbon en toute facilité.

Consignes de sécurité
• Utilisez l’Atago de Petromax uniquement à l’extérieur. Il ne doit en aucun cas être installé dans des
pièces fermées en raison du risque d’incendie et d’asphyxie.
•
Attention! L’Atago ainsi que toutes ses pièces (Grille à charbon, Grille de cuisson) chauffent fortement
pendant l’utilisation. Veillez à ce que les enfants ou les animaux ne se trouvent pas à proximité de
l’Atago chaud lorsqu’il est en service et ne le laissez jamais sans surveillance.
• N’utilisez jamais plus de 30briquettes à la fois, car cela entraînerait une surchauffe de l’appareil et
pourrait endommager le matériau de l’Atago.
• Informez-vous sur la réglementation en vigueur en matière de protection contre les incendies et
respectez-la.
•
Avant l’utilisation, installez l’Atago sur une surface plane et stable et le plus que possible à l’abri du vent.
• Respectez la faune et la flore ainsi que les zones naturelles protégées, lorsque vous faites un feu
dans la nature. Il faut toujours garder une distance d’au moins 50mètres par rapport aux forêts et
aux espaces à végétation dense.
• Si vous utilisez des allume-feux ou allume-barbecue solides disponibles dans le commerce tel que
le Kit feu Petromax, suivez les instructions figurant sur l’emballage.
• Pour des raisons de sécurité, n'utilisez en aucun cas des combustibles liquides, tels que de l’essence,
de la térébenthine ou de l’alcool, pour allumer ou raviver un feu. Ces substances présentent des
risques d’explosion et sont en partie toxiques, voire nocives pour l’environnement.
• Ne mettez jamais d’allume-feu liquide ou de charbon imprégné d’allume-feu liquide sur du charbon
chaud ou brûlant, car cela peut entraîner une déflagration et un jet de flamme.
• Veillez à ce que l’Atago se trouve à une distance de sécurité de 1,5m par rapport aux matériaux
combustibles, lorsqu’il est allumé.
• Ne déplacez pas l’Atago lorsqu’il est en service ou encore chaud.
• Prudence lorsque vous rajoutez du matériau de combustion! Nous recommandons le port de gants
de protection résistants à la chaleur Aramid Pro 300 de Petromax.
•
Portez toujours des gants de protection résistants à la chaleur et au feu, lorsque vous allumez
l’Atago ou lors de la manipulation des orifices de ventilation servant à régler la température. Nous
recommandons les gants de protection Aramid Pro 300 de Petromax.
• Utilisez une pince à barbecue, p. ex. la Pince à barbecue et à charbon Petromax pour positionner le
matériau de combustion ou pour en rajouter.
• Portez si possible des vêtements seyants, lorsque vous utilisez l’Atago. Évitez les manches larges et
longues, car elles pourraient prendre feu.

• Ne retirez les cendres que lorsqu’elles ont complément refroidi et n’utilisez jamais d’eau pour éteindre
les charbons ardents. Cela peut entraîner des contraintes dans le matériau, provoquer des fissures
ou détruire les cordons de soudure. En outre, le mélange eau-cendres pourrait être refoulé vers
des endroits potentiellement difficiles d’accès dans l’Atago et provoquerait l’apparition de rouille.
• Gardez toujours un seau de sable ou un extincteur à poudre à portée de main en cas d’urgence..
