How to...
Switch the phone On/Off Long press ) .
Enter your PIN code Enter your PIN code through the on-screen keypad and tap on
OK to confirm.
Turn on the screen Press ) to exit the power-saving mode.

Quickly switch to a different
dashboard display
On current dashboard display, move your finger to the left/
right; long press <,>; or, shake your phone.
Select input keypads On the editing screen, push up/down the slide to select the
alphanumeric keypad, or the on-screen QWERTY keypad.
Select input methods Alphanumeric keypad: Press # repeatedly. Long press
*to turn T9 input on or off.
On-screen keypad: Tap on / to select the input
through the keypad or stylus. Tap on the language or numeric
icon to select the input methods.

Menus
Main menu
The main menu gives you access to all the
different features of your mobile phone. The
table below summarizes the functional icons on
the main menu. To find more information about
their functions, refer to the pages.
Tap on Menu on idle screen to access the main
menu. To select your option, tap on the icons
and lists, and then OK. Tap on Options to access
the options related to the selected item. Tap on
Back to return to the previous menu. Press )
to return to the idle screen.

Dashboard displays
On the idle screen, you can switch between up
to 7 displays. You can use the empty idle screen,
show clock time (if you select Analog or Digital in
Settings > General > Time & date > Display time),
or select a dashboard.
With such dashboard displays, you can quickly
check world clock (World clock); or check or edit
to-do list (Calendar) or memos (Quick notes); or
play music (Music) or listen to radio (FM radio)
from the idle screen.
Customize dashboard displays
Select up to 5 functional displays as needed.
1. Go to Settings > Display > Dashboard.
2. Select your option. Tap on On/Off to select
or unselect.
3. Tap on Done to finish setting.
Switch between different displays
• On current dashboard, quickly move your
finger to the left or right.
• Or, long press < or > to move to another
dashboard.
• Slide the bar below displays.
• Or, shake your phone to the left or right, if
you have selected On in Menu > Settings >
Motion sensor >Motion sensor navigation.
To operate on dashboard displays
• Tap on the central soft key on the idle screen.
•Or, press ,.
To play music on the dashboard
1. Play/Pause: Tap to start/pause playback of
the last played song.
/ : Tap to select a song in current
folder.
/ : Tap to adjust volume.
2. To stop music playback, press ), and then
tap on Yes.
To listen to radio on the functional
display
1. Always plug in the supplied headset when
tuning to radio stations.

2. / : Tap to select a preset station or
next available station.
/ : Tap to adjust volume.
Play/Stop: Tap to start/stop playback.
3. To stop radio playback, press ), and then
tap on Yes.
Shortcut menu
The shortcut menu consists of up to 8 shortcuts
to functional displays. Extend your quick access
to functional displays by selecting shortcuts to
those other than the six ones.
To set your shortcut menu
1. Go to Settings > General > Shortcut.
2. Tap on Change to show the list of functional
displays.
3. To select/unselect an option, tap on it, and
then Check/Uncheck.
4. Tap on Done to finish setting.
To use your shortcut menu
•On the idle screen, tap on Shortcut, and you
can select a functional display as desired.
The idle screen switches to the relevant
display.
Stylus
The touch screen allows you to enter text by
directly writing on the screen, or tap to select
the desired option. The supplied stylus makes it
easier to do so.
The first time you switch on the phone, you are
asked to do calibration for the stylus. Thus,
strokes or taps by the stylus will be precisely
displayed on the screen.
You can also do the calibration in Settings >
General > Pen calibration by following the screen
instructions.

Soft keys
The ,, Land R are located at the top of
the keypad area. Pressing the soft keys allow
you to select the options above them on the

screen. Such options are contexual: they vary
according to current context.
Fast Keys
Sensor
With built-in motion and light sensors, the
phone can react to motion and ambient
luminance as desired or necessary.
To use the motion sensor
•InSettings > Motion sensor > Mute incoming call
or Snooze mode, select On.
If a call rings, turn over the phone (front side to
back, or back side to front) to mute the
ringtone.
To interrupt the sounding alarm in the same
way, check that the Snooze is set to a time
interval in Tools > Alarm (see "To set an alarm"
on page 43). To stop the alarm, tap on Stop (see
"To use an alarm" on page 43).
For navigation
•InSettings > Motion sensor > Motion sensor
navigation, select On.
- On idle screen, you can shake the phone
to switch between functional displays.
- During music playback in Music > Music
player, you can shake the phone to switch
between different songs.
- When selecting default wallpaper in
Settings > Display > Wallpaper > Default
wallpapers, you can shake the phone to
switch between different wallpapers.

To use the light sensor
•InSettings > Display > Light sensor, select On.
The phone will adjust backlight level
automatically according to ambient brightness.
For power-saving purposes, always turn on the
light sensor.
Power-saving mode
After the set time span, the phone has the idle
screen turned off automatically. To exit the
power-saving mode, press any key. For power-
saving purpose, set the time span to a low value
in Settings > Display > Backlight duration.
Auto keypad lock
In the idle mode, your phone can have the
screen locked automatically after the set time
span. When the screen is locked, a set of
concentric circles keep moving on the screen.
To set the auto keypad lock
Go to Settings > General > Auto keypad lock.

To lock the keypad manually
On the idle screen, long press *.
Or, pull down the slide (if On is selected in
Settings > Genreral > Active slide lock).
