The progressive scan display presents 60
complete frames per second, rather" than
30 frames per second of interlaced
scanning (normal TV system),With nearly
double the number of lines, progressive
scan offers higher picture resolution and
eliminates bothersome motion artifacts
iagged edges on moving obiects.
To enjoy the quality offered by
progressive scan, a progressive scan TV is
required.To activate progressive scan,
refer to 'Progressive' on page 30.

Getting Started
[f the progressive function is activated but
your TV does not support progressive
scan or the canes are not connected
accordingly, the TV screen w,iJlbe blank.
You can deactivate progressive scan as
below.
@ Press STANDBY ON (_ on the fl'ont
panel to switch on the DVD player:
O Press OPEN/CLOSE A on the front
panel to open the disc tray.
O Press STOP [] on the front panel.
G Press PLJkY/PAUSE _ll on the front
panel.

This DVD Player is compatible with both
NTSC and PAL. In order for a DVD to
play on this Hayer, the color system of the
Disc, theTV and the DVD Pbyer should
match_
PAL -Select this if the connected TV has
the PALcolor system. It will change the
video signal of an NTSC disc and output it
in PAL format.
NTSC -Select this if the connected TV
has the NTSC color" system. It w,iHchange
the video signal of a PAL disc (VCD only)
and output it in NTSC format.
Multi - Select this if the connected TV is
compatible with both NTSC and PAL
(multi-system). The output format will be
in accordance with the video signai of the
disc.

Playing discs
@ Connect the power cords of the DVD
Player andTV (and any, optional stereo or
receiver) to a power oudec
_ Turn on theTV and set it to the correct
Video [n channel (See page 15 "Setting up
the TV').
_ Press STANDBY-ON O on the front of
the DVD Pbye_:

_ Press OPEN.CLOSE _ to open the disc
tray and load a disc, Press again to dose
the disc tra_
_'®*Make sure the label is facing up. For
double-sided discs, make sure the label of
the side you want to play is facing up.
_ Playback may start automatically
(depending on the disc type).

Using the Disc Menu
Depending on the disc, a menu may
appear on the TV screen once you load
the disc.
To select a playback feature or item
Use the _ [_ A V or numeric keypad
(0-9) on the Remote Control, then press
PLAY _ to startplayback,
To access the menu
Press DISC MENU on the Remote
Control.
Basic playback controls
Unless otherwise stated, all operations
described are based on Remote Control

@ During playback, press PAUSE IL

the previous or next picture frame.
