About the time shift buffer
Once you turn on the recorder, the selected TV
programme will be stored in a temporary hard disk
storage called the Time Shift Buffer ‘TSB’.
Press DISPLAY to show the Time Shift video bar:

Note The contents in the Time Shift Buffer will
be cleared once you press 2.
OR, if you press CAM twice to switch to DV IN
mode.
Start recording
A
Record TV programme
APress TUNER on the remote control.
BUse CH+/-keys to scroll through the
channels. OR, press 0 - 9 to select the channel
that you want to record.
CPress RECORD âto start recording.
Note To set a longer recording time, press
RECORD repeatedly to extend the recording
time in 30 minute increments.
DTo stop recording, press STOPÇ. The
recording will be saved to the hard disk.
Note To schedule a timer recording or record
from an external device, refer to the
accompanying User Manual for details.

Copy TV programmes to DVD
You can copy recordings of TV programmes to a
recordable DVD disc for future playback.
AInsert a recordable DVD into the recorder.
BPress HDD LIST to access the title menu.
CUse WXST keys to reach the preferred title
and press OK.
DUse ST keys to select [ Copy ] and press OK.
EA confirmation message appears. Press OK to
proceed.
Note During the copying process, the Time
Shift Buffer will not store any content.
Start playback
A
Playback a HDD title
APress HDD LIST to access the title menu.
BUse WXST keys to reach the preferred title
and press u.
B
Playback from disc
APress OPEN/CLOSEçto open the disc tray.
Load a disc and close the disc tray.
BPress DISC MENU to access the disc menu.
CUse WXST keys to reach the preferred title/
file and press uto start.
C
Playback from USB device
AInsert the USB device to the USB port on the
front panel
BPress USB to access the title menu.
CSelect the contents type and press Xright.
DUse WXST keys to reach the preferred data
file (MP3, WMA, DivX and JPEG) press uto
start.

CSelect the country of your area for auto channel
tuning and press OK. The auto scan menu
appears and the automatic TV channel search
starts.
DOnce complete, the programme list menu
appears.

Sort and rename the programs.

Note In this menu, you can change the TV
channels sequence, rename it or set NICAM
mode. For detailed descriptions, refer to the
accompanying User Manual.
EPress OK on the remote control to continue.
The clock setting menu appears.

FUse ST keys to set the current date and time,
use WXkeys to select different entry fields.
Press OK to confirm
Note You may using the numeric keypad
0-9 on the remote control to enter the date and
time.
GOnce complete, press OK to confirm and exit
the menu.
The DVD recorder is now ready for use.

Finding the viewing channel
APress 2 on the recorder.
BSwitch on the TV and other connected devices
(e.g. Cable Box, Satellite Receiver). The
installation menu is displayed.

Before using the recorder,
please complete the installation.
CIn case you don’t see the recorder’s setting menu,
press the Channel Down button on the TV’s
remote control repeatedly (or AV, SELECT, °
button) until you see the menu. This is the
correct viewing channel for the recorder.

Start basic setup
Use the recorder’s remote control and follow the
on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Note Use up Sand down Tkeys to toggle
through the options. To conrm a setting, press
OK.
APress OK on the remote control.
The language setting menu appears.

Option A
Use this connection if you are connecting the
antenna cable directly from the antenna wall socket
or from a cable TV socket.
AUnplug the antenna cable that is currently
connected to your TV and plug in the antenna
cable to the ANTENNA-IN socket on this
recorder.
BConnect an RF antenna cable from the TV-
OUT socket on this recorder to the
Antenna In socket on the TV.
CConnect a scart cable (not supplied) from the
EXT1 TO TV socket on this recorder to the
Scart input socket on your TV.
DPlug in the power cable from the recorder to an
AC power outlet.
Option B
Use this connection if your current antenna cable is
connected to a cable box with a Scart output
socket.
AKeep the existing antenna connection from the
Cable box to your TV.
BConnect a scart cable (not supplied) from the
EXT1 TO TV socket on this recorder to the
Scart input socket on your TV.
CConnect another scart cable (not supplied) from
the EXT2 TO VCR/SAT socket on this
recorder to the Scart output socket on the
Cable Box.
DPlug in the power cable from the recorder to an
AC power outlet.
