Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and
save them for future reference.
◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to
the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
◗If the cord or adapter is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a
service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons
in order to avoid a hazard.
◗The adapter contains a transformer. Do not cut off the adapter to
replace it with another plug, as this will cause a hazardous
situation.
◗The adapter transforms 220-240 volts to a safe voltage lower
than 24 volts.
◗Keep the appliance and the adapter dry.
◗Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
◗Store and use the appliance at a temperature between 5cC and
35cC.
◗Do not use the appliance if the cutting unit or comb attachment
is damaged or broken, as this may cause injury.
◗This appliance is only intended for clipping human scalp hair. Do
not use it for any other purpose.
Preparing for use
Clipping with comb attachment:
1Slide the arms of the comb attachment into the guiding grooves
of the appliance.
2Press the adjustment button on the back of the appliance and
slide the comb attachment to the desired position (see table).
3Release the adjustment button to lock the comb.
4Insert the mains plug into the wall socket.
5Switch the appliance on.

If a lot of hair has accumulated in the comb attachment, remove it and
blow and/or shake the hair out of it.

Clipping without comb attachment
1To remove the comb attachment, press the adjustment button on
the back of the appliance and slide the comb attachment to its
final position.
2Pull the comb attachment off the appliance with your other hand
while keeping the button pressed.
Clean the appliance every time you have used it.
Clipping techniques
Always comb the hair in the direction of growth before clipping.
Clipping with comb attachment
The comb attachment can be used to obtain hair lengths up to 21mm.
◗Start clipping at the setting for maximum hair length (i.e. position 7)
to familiarise yourself with the clipper.
Always move the clipper against the direction of hair growth.
◗Hold the clipper so that the flat side of the comb attachment is
parallel to the head. Move it slowly through the hair and then
away from the head, cutting only a small amount at a time.

◗Change the hair length setting (see table) to obtain different
lengths on different parts of the head.
Cutting over styling comb or fingers
This technique can be used to obtain hair lengths over 21mm.
◗Remove the comb attachment.
◗Lift a small section of hair with a styling comb or grasp it
between two fingers.
◗Lift the hair with the comb or fingers so that only the length that
needs to be cut off sticks out.
◗Trim the hair protruding from the comb or fingers.
◗Continue this procedure working against the direction of hair
growth.
◗Comb frequently to remove cut hair and to check for unevenly
cut sections.
Outlining
◗Remove the comb attachment.
◗Hold the clipper with the cutter pointing downwards.
◗Make overlapping strokes for precise outlining of the neck and
sideburns.
◗To cut the hair around the ears, put one edge of the cutting unit
on the skin. Make sure that the teeth are kept at a safe distance
from the ears.
◗Shape the desired outline slowly and carefully.
Creating different haircuts
Crew cut
◗Select the desired hair length setting for the neck area.
◗Clip the neck area using the 'Clipping with comb attachment'
technique.
◗Adjust the setting to the desired hair length for the back and
sides of the head.
◗Clip the sides and back of the head, leaving the hair on top of the
head uncut.

◗For a flat top look, cut the hair on top of the head using the
'Cutting over styling comb or fingers' technique.
◗Finish the haircut by clipping the neckline, sideburns and the area
around the ears using the 'Outlining' technique.
Short cut
◗Select the desired hair length setting for the back and the sides of
the head.
◗Clip the back and the sides of the head using the 'Clipping with
comb attachment' technique.
◗Leave the hair on top of the head uncut.
◗Select the desired hair length setting for the top of the head.
◗Clip the top of the head using the 'Clipping with comb
attachment' technique.
◗Finish the haircut by clipping the neck, sideburns and area around
the ears using the 'Outlining' technique.
Cleaning
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, scourers or liquids such as
alcohol, petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.
1Make sure the appliance is switched off and disconnected from
the mains before you start cleaning it.
2Remove the comb attachment.
3Remove the cutting unit.
4Clean the cutting unit and the inside of the appliance with the
brush supplied.
5To reassemble the clipper, insert the hook of the cutting unit into
the housing.
6Push the cutting unit back ('click').

Replacement
A worn or damaged cutting unit should only be replaced with an
original Philips cutting unit.
If you have difficulties obtaining a new cutting unit, contact the Philips
Customer Care Centre in your country or consult the worldwide
guarantee leaflet.
Environment
◗Do not throw the appliance away with the normal household
waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection
point for recycling. By doing this you will help to preserve the
environment (fig. 23).

Troubleshooting
1The clipper fails to cut hair, although the required length has not
yet been obtained.
BCause 1: the hair has not been combed before clipping.
◗Comb the hair in the direction of hair growth before using the
clipper.
BCause 2: the clipper is not being moved against the direction of hair
growth.
◗Move the clipper against the direction of hair growth to obtain an
optimal clipping result (see section 'Clipping with comb
attachment').

Für den Gebrauch vorbereiten
Haare mit dem Kammaufsatz schneiden:
1Schieben Sie die Führungen am Kammaufsatz in die Aussparungen
an dem Gerät.
2Drücken Sie die Schnittlängentaste an der Rückseite des Geräts,
und schieben Sie den Kammaufsatz in die gewünschte Position
(siehe Tabelle).
3Wenn Sie dieTaste loslassen, ist der Kammaufsatz auf die
gewünschte Schnittlänge eingestellt.

4Stecken Sie den Netzstecker in die Steckdose.
5Schalten Sie das Gerät ein.
Wenn sich viel Haar im Kammaufsatz angesammelt hat, nehmen Sie ihn
ab und blasen oder schütteln Sie die Haare heraus.

Ohne Kammaufsatz schneiden
1Um den Kammaufsatz zu lösen, drücken Sie die Schnittlängentaste
an der Rückseite des Geräts und schieben den Kammaufsatz auf
die letztmögliche Position.
2Halten Sie die Taste gedrückt, und ziehen Sie den Kammaufsatz
mit der anderen Hand vom Gerät.
Reinigen Sie das Gerät nach jedem Gebrauch.
Haarschneidetechniken
Kämmen Sie vor dem Schneiden das Haar in Haarwuchsrichtung.
Haare mit dem Kammaufsatz schneiden
Der Kammaufsatz kann für Haarlängen bis zu 21 mm verwendet
werden.
◗Beginnen Sie den Haarschnitt mit der Einstellung für die
maximale Haarlänge (Position 7), um sich mit dem Gerät
vertrautzu machen.

Führen Sie den Haarschneider immer gegen die Haarwuchsrichtung.
◗Halten Sie den Haarschneider so, dass sich die flache Seite des
Kammaufsatzes immer parallel zur Kopfhaut befindet. Führen Sie
den Kammaufsatz langsam durch das Haar, und heben Sie das
Gerät dann vom Kopf ab. Schneiden Sie nie zu viele Haare auf
einmal.
◗Wechseln Sie die Schnittlängeneinstellung (sieheTabelle), um die
Haarlänge an verschiedenen Kopfpartien zu variieren.
Haare über einen Frisierkamm oder die Finger
schneiden
Dieses Vorgehen ist bei Schnittlängen über 21 mm angebracht.
◗Nehmen Sie den Kammaufsatz vom Gerät.
◗Heben Sie einige Haare mit dem Frisierkamm oder halten Sie das
Haar zwischen zwei Fingern.
◗Heben Sie die Haare mit dem Frisierkamm oder den Fingern an,
bis nur noch der abzuschneidende Teil übersteht.
◗Schneiden Sie diese Haarspitzen mit dem Gerät ab.
◗Fahren Sie auf dieseWeise fort, wobei Sie immer gegen die
Haarwuchsrichtung arbeiten.
◗Kämmen Sie das Haar regelmäßig durch, um abgeschnittene
Haarspitzen zu entfernen und das Ergebnis auf ungleichmäßig
geschnittene Partien zu überprüfen.
Konturen schneiden
◗Nehmen Sie den Kammaufsatz vom Gerät.
◗Halten Sie den Haarschneider so, dass die Schneideeinheit nach
unten zeigt.
◗Mit kleinen überlappendenden Bewegungen geben Sie der
Nackenpartie und den Koteletten präzise Konturen.
◗Zum Schneiden der Haare rund um die Ohren setzen Sie die
Schneideeinheit mit einer Kante auf die Haut.Achten Sie darauf,
dass die Zähne der Schneideeinheit in einem sicheren Abstand zu
den Ohren bleiben.
◗Formen Sie die Konturen langsam und sorgfältig.

Verschiedene Haarschnitte
Bürstenschnitt
◗Stellen Sie die gewünschte Schnittlänge für den Nackenbereich
ein.
◗Schneiden Sie die Nackenpartie wie im Abschnitt "Haare mit dem
Kammaufsatz schneiden" beschrieben.
◗Stellen Sie die gewünschte Schnittlänge für die Seiten und den
Nacken ein.
◗Schneiden Sie die Seiten und den Nacken, nicht aber das Haar
oben auf dem Kopf.
◗Schneiden Sie das Haar auf dem Kopf wie im Abschnitt "Haare
über einen Frisierkamm oder die Finger schneiden" beschrieben,
so dass sich eine ebene Haarfläche ergibt.
◗Zum Abschluss schneiden Sie die Nackenpartie, die Koteletten
und die Haare um die Ohren gemäß den Hinweisen im Abschnitt
"Konturen schneiden".
Kurzhaarschnitt
◗Wählen Sie eine Schnittlängeneinstellung für den Hinterkopf und
die Seiten.
◗Schneiden Sie Hinterkopf und Seiten wie im Abschnitt "Haare mit
dem Kammaufsatz schneiden" beschrieben.
◗Schneiden Sie jedoch das Haar oben auf dem Kopf noch nicht.
◗Stellen Sie anschließend für das Haar auf dem Kopf die
gewünschte Schnittlänge ein.
◗Schneiden Sie nun das Haar auf dem Kopf wie im Abschnitt
"Haare mit dem Kammaufsatz schneiden" beschrieben.
◗Zum Abschluss schneiden Sie die Nackenpartie, die Koteletten
und die Haare um die Ohren gemäß den Hinweisen im Abschnitt
"Konturen schneiden".
Reinigung
Verwenden Sie für die Reinigung keine Scheuermittel,
Scheuerschwämme oder Lösungsmittel wie Alkohol, Benzin oder
Azeton.

und nicht an das Stromnetz angeschlossen ist.
2Nehmen Sie den Kammaufsatz vom Gerät.
3Nehmen Sie die Schneideeinheit ab.
4Reinigen Sie die Schneideeinheit und das Innere des Geräts mit
der beiliegenden Bürste.
5Setzen Sie den Haken der Schneideeinheit in das Gerätegehäuse
ein.
6Drücken Sie auf die Schneideeinheit, bis sie hörbar einrastet.
Ersatzteile
Eine verbrauchte oder beschädigte Schneideeinheit darf nur durch eine
Original-Philips-Schneideeinheit ersetzt werden.
Sollten Sie Schwierigkeiten bei der Beschaffung von Ersatz-
Schneideeinheiten haben, wenden Sie sich bitte an das Philips Service-
Center in Ihrem Land. Beachten Sie auch die Angaben in der
internationalen Garantieschrift.
Umweltschutz
◗Werfen Sie das Gerät am Ende der Lebensdauer nicht in den
normalen Hausmüll. Bringen Sie es zum Recycling zu einer

Fehlerbehebung
1Der Haarschneider schneidet keine Haare, obwohl die
gewünschte Haarlänge noch nicht erreicht wurde.
BUrsache 1: Das Haar wurde vor dem Schneiden nicht gekämmt.
◗Kämmen Sie das Haar in Haarwuchsrichtung, bevor Sie den
Haarschneider verwenden.
BUrsache 2: Der Haarschneider wurde nicht gegen die
Haarwuchsrichtung geführt.
◗Für optimale Ergebnisse bewegen Sie den Haarschneider gegen
die Haarwuchsrichtung (siehe "Haare mit dem Kammaufsatz
schneiden").
BUrsache 3: Im Kammaufsatz haben sich viele Haare angesammelt.
◗Entfernen Sie den Kammaufsatz, und blasen oder schütteln Sie die
Haare heraus.
2Die Motorleistung lässt spürbar nach.

Important

Avant utilisation
Utilisation avec sabot
1Faites glisser les branches du sabot dans les rainures de l'appareil.
2Appuyez sur le bouton de réglage à l'arrière de l'appareil et
réglez le sabot sur la position souhaitée (voir tableau).
3Relâchez le bouton de réglage afin de verrouiller le sabot.
4Branchez le cordon d'alimentation sur la prise secteur.
5Mettez l'appareil en marche.
Si des cheveux se sont accumulés dans le sabot, retirez-le et enlevez les
cheveux en soufflant sur le sabot et/ou en le secouant.

Utilisation sans sabot
1Pour retirer le sabot, appuyez sur le bouton de réglage à l'arrière
de l'appareil et réglez le sabot sur la dernière position.
2Retirez le sabot de l'appareil avec votre main libre tout en
maintenant le bouton de réglage enfoncé.
Nettoyez l'appareil après chaque utilisation.
Conseils d'utilisation
Peignez toujours les cheveux avant de les tondre.
Tonte avec le sabot
Le sabot permet d'obtenir des longueurs de coupe comprises entre
0 mm et 21 mm.
◗Optez tout d'abord pour la longueur de coupe la plus élevée
(position 7) afin de vous familiariser avec l'appareil.
Déplacez toujours l'appareil dans le sens inverse de la pousse des
cheveux.
◗Tenez l'appareil de manière à ce que le côté plat du sabot soit
parallèle au crâne. Déplacez lentement la tondeuse, puis éloignez-
la du crâne pour ne tondre qu'une petite partie à la fois.
◗Pour obtenir différentes longueurs suivant les parties de la tête,
modifiez la longueur de coupe (voir tableau).

Coupe à l'aide d'un peigne ou des doigts
Cette technique permet d'obtenir une longueur de coupe supérieure à
21 mm.
◗Retirez le sabot.
◗Soulevez une mèche de cheveux à l'aide du peigne ou saisissez-la
entre deux doigts.
◗Déplacez le peigne ou les doigts sur la mèche de cheveux jusqu'à
la longueur de coupe souhaitée.
◗Tondez les cheveux dépassant du peigne ou des doigts.
◗Continuez ainsi pour l'ensemble de la chevelure en procédant
dans le sens inverse de la pousse des cheveux.
◗Peignez fréquemment vos cheveux afin d'enlever les cheveux
coupés et de vérifier que la coupe est uniforme.
Contours
◗Retirez le sabot.
◗Tenez la tondeuse en veillant à diriger le bloc tondeuse vers le bas.
◗Pour des contours précis de la nuque et des favoris, effectuez
plusieurs passages.
◗Pour couper les cheveux autour des oreilles, positionnez un côté
du bloc tondeuse sur la peau.Veillez à maintenir les dents du bloc
tondeuse à une distance suffisante des oreilles.
◗Dessinez les contours lentement et soigneusement.
Création de différentes coupes
Coupe en brosse
◗Sélectionnez la longueur de coupe souhaitée pour la nuque.
◗Tondez les cheveux de la nuque en vous référant à la section
« Utilisation avec sabot ».
◗Sélectionnez la longueur de coupe souhaitée pour l'arrière et les
côtés de la tête.
◗Tondez les cheveux à l'arrière et sur les côtés de la tête, mais pas
ceux situés sur le dessus de la tête.
◗Pour obtenir une coupe en brosse, coupez les cheveux situés sur
le dessus de la tête en vous référant à la section « Coupe à
l'aided'un peigne ou des doigts ».
