Permanent filter
This fryer has been equipped with a permanent fi ter.
To guarantee optima functioning of the app iance, the
meta fi ter shou d be c eaned regu ar y.
- C ean the id of the fryer in hot soapy water or in
the dishwasher every time you have used the fryer.
- For thorough c eaning: undo the screws on the insi-
de of the id (fig. 24) and remove the fi ter
(fig. 25).
Let the fi ter dry proper y before you put it back into
the id and before you start using the app iance.
Tips
Home-made French fries
You wi make the tastiest and crispiest French fries
in the fo owing way:
• Preferab y use firm potatoes.
- Cut the potatoes into thick s ices and then into
sticks. Rinse the sticks with co d water; this wi
prevent them from sticking to each other during
frying.
- Dry the sticks thorough y.
• A ways fry home-made French fries twice:
- the first time for 4-6 minutes at 160°;
- the second time for 2-4 minutes at 190 °C.
- For a uniform go den resu t, ift the basket out of
the fryer a few times during the second frying peri-
od and give the fries a shake.
- Frozen fries have a ready been precooked, so you
wi on y have to fry them once in accordance with
the instructions on the package.
Frozen food
Food from the freezer (-16 to -18°C) wi coo the
oi or fat considerab y when it is immersed in it.
Because it does not sear right away, the food may
absorb too much oi or fat.
Take the fo owing measures to prevent this:
- Do not fry too arge amounts of food at one time
(see ‘Tab e’).
- Heat the oi for at east 15 minutes before you
ower a batch of food into it.
- Set the temperature contro to the setting indica-
ted in the tab e in these instructions or on the pac-
kage of the food to be fried. If there are no instruc-
tions for the food you want to fry, se ect a tempe-
rature of 190°C.
• Preferab y a ow frozen food to defrost at east
part y at room temperature before you fry it. Shake
as much ice and water as possib e off the food
before you put it into the fryer.
• Lower the food into the oi or fat very gent y, since
frozen food may cause the hot oi or fat to start
bubb ing vio ent y.
Getting rid of unwanted flavours
Certain types of food, particu ar y fish, may ose some
juice when they are being fried.The juices thus
ending up in the oi or fat may affect the sme and
taste of food that is subsequent y fried in the same
oi or fat.To neutra ise the taste of the oi or fat, do
the fo owing:
- Heat the fryer to 160°C and put two thin s ices of
bread or a few sprigs of pars ey in the oi or fat.
Wait unti no more bubb es appear and then scoop
the bread or the pars ey out of the fryer with a
spatu a.The taste of the oi or fat wi now be neu-
tra again.
A healthy diet
Specia ists in the fie d of hea thy food and drink advi-
se the use of vegetab e oi s and fats that contain
unsaturated fatty acids (such as ino eic acid).
However, these oi s and fats ose their favourab e
properties more quick y than other oi s and fats, so
you wi have to change them more often.
- Change the oi or fat regu ar y. If you main y use the
fryer to prepare French fries and if you sieve the oi
or fat after every use, you can re-use the oi or fat
10 to 12 times.
However, do not use it onger than six months and
a ways fo ow the instructions on the package.
• As a ru e, oi or fat keeps ess ong if you fry food
that is rich in proteins, such as meat and fish.
- Do not add fresh oi or fat to used oi or fat.
- Change the oi or fat if it starts foaming when it is
heated, when it has a strong taste or sme or when
it turns dark and/or syrupy.
Environment
It is best to dispose of used oi or iquid fat by pou-
ring it back into its origina p astic bott e with ocking
cap.You can dispose of so id fat by etting it so idify
and then scooping it out of the fryer by means of a
spatu a and wrapping it in a newspaper.
Put the bott es of oi or the newspaper in the contai-
ner for non-compostab e waste or dispose of them in
accordance with the regu ations in your country.

The tab e indicates how much of a particu ar type of
food you can fry at one time and which temperature
and preparation time you shou d se ect.
• If the instructions on the package of the food to be
prepared differ from those in the tab e, a ways fo -
ow the instructions on the package.
