Caution

- Never block the air grilles.
- The appliance has a safety function. If the appliance overheats, it
switches off automatically. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down
for a few minutes. Before you switch on the appliance again, check the
grilles to make sure they are not blocked by uff, hair, etc.
- Always switch off the appliance before you put it down, even if it is
only for a moment.

- Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.
- HP8183/HP8182/HP8181 only:You may notice a characteristic odour
when you use this hairdryer with the ion function switched on.This is
caused by the ions that are generated and it is not harmful to the
human body.
- Do not use the appliance on articial hair.
- This appliance is only intended for drying scalp hair.
- Do not use the appliance for any other purpose than described in
this manual.

- Keep the hairdryer clean and free of dust, dirt and styling products
such as mousse, spray and gel.
- Never use any accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that
are not specically advised by Philips. If you use such accessories or
parts, your guarantee becomes invalid.
Electromagnetic elds (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding
electromagnetic elds (EMF). If handled properly and according to the
instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on
scientic evidence available today.
Using the appliance
Drying
1 Put the plug in the wall socket.
2 Selectthedesiredairowsettingtoswitchontheappliance(Fig.3).
- Set the slide switch to airow setting II for ultra-quick drying.
- Set the slide switch to airow setting I for drying short hair or styling
your hair.
Tip: You can also use the turbo button for an extra powerful airow (Fig. 4).
3 Set the temperature slide switch to the cool, warm or hot
setting(Fig.5).
- The hot setting 6 allows you to dry shower-wet hair very quickly and
safely until it is damp.
- The warm setting 5is especially suitable for drying damp hair until it is
almost dry.
- The cool setting 4allows you to gently dry hair that is almost dry and
helps to seal in shine.
4 Dry your hair by making brushing movements with the hairdryer at
asmalldistancefromyourhair(Fig.6).
Tip: When you have nished drying each section, press the cool shot button
and direct the cool airow at your hair. This xes your style and adds
shine (Fig. 7).

5 HP8183/HP8182 only: Switch the ion function on or off with the
ionslideswitch(Fig.8).
,The ion indicator light goes on to indicate that the ion function has
been activated.
HP8181 only:The ion function is always switched on.
The ion function provides additional shine and reduces frizz and static
electricity. It is particularly suitable for dry and almost-dry hair.
Concentrator
The concentrator enables you to direct the airow straight at the brush
or comb with which you are styling your hair.
1 Snaptheconcentratorontotheappliance(Fig.9).
To disconnect the concentrator, pull it off the appliance.
Volume diffuser (HP8183/HP8182 only)
The volume diffuser has been specially developed to gently dry both
straight and curly or wavy hair.
1 Toconnectthevolumediffuser,snapitontotheappliance(Fig.10).
To disconnect the volume diffuser, pull it off the appliance.
2 To add volume at the roots, insert the pins into your hair in such a
waythattheytouchyourscalp(Fig.11).
3 Make rotating movements with the appliance to distribute the
warmairevenlythroughyourhair(Fig.12).
Cleaning
Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid, nor rinse it
under the tap.
1 Switch off the appliance and unplug it.
2 Removetheconcentratorordiffuser(HP8183/HP8182
only)beforeyoucleantheappliance.
3 Clean the appliance with a dry cloth.

4 Take the air inlet grille off the appliance to remove hairs and
dust(Fig.13).
- To remove the air inlet grille, press the thumbrests on the left and the
right side of the air inlet grille simultaneously and pull the air inlet
grille off the appliance.
- To reattach the air inlet grille, press the thumbrests on the left and
the right side of the air inlet grille simultaneously and press the inlet
grille onto the appliance.
5 Cleantheconcentratorordiffuser(HP8183/HP8182only)witha
moist cloth or rinse it under the tap.
6 Makesuretheconcentratorordiffuser(HP8183/HP8182only)is
dry before you use or store it.
Storage
Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.
1 Switch off the appliance and unplug it.
2 Put the appliance in a safe place and let it cool down.
3 You can store the appliance by hanging it from its hanging loop.
Environment
- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste
at the end of its life, but hand it in at an ofcial collection point for
recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the
environment (Fig. 14).

Achtung

eingeschalteter Ionisierungsfunktion nehmen Sie möglicherweise

- Verwenden Sie das Gerät nicht zum Trocknen von Kunsthaar.
- Das Gerät ist ausschließlich zum Trocknen von Kopfhaar vorgesehen.
- Verwenden Sie das Gerät nie für andere als in dieser
Bedienungsanleitung beschriebene Zwecke.
- Halten Sie den Haartrockner sauber und frei von Staub, Schmutz
sowie Schaumfestiger, Styling-Spray, Gel usw.
- Verwenden Sie keine Zubehörteile anderer Hersteller oder solche,
die von Philips nicht ausdrücklich empfohlen werden. Falls Sie
derartiges Zubehör benutzen, erlischt die Garantie.
Elektromagnetische Felder
Dieses Philips Gerät erfüllt sämtliche Normen bezüglich
elektromagnetischer Felder (EMF). Nach aktuellen wissenschaftlichen
Erkenntnissen ist das Gerät sicher im Gebrauch, sofern es ordnungsgemäß
und entsprechend den Anweisungen in dieser Bedienungsanleitung
gehandhabt wird.
Das Gerät benutzen
Trocknen
1 Stecken Sie den Stecker in die Steckdose.
2 Wählen Sie zum Einschalten des Geräts den gewünschten
Luftstrom(Abb.3).
- Schieben Sie den Schalter auf Gebläsestufe II für besonders schnelles
Trocknen.
- Schieben Sie den Schalter auf Gebläsestufe I zum Trocknen kurzer
Haare oder zum Stylen.
Tipp: Mithilfe der Turbotaste können Sie den Luftstrom erhöhen (Abb. 4).
3 Schieben Sie den Temperaturschalter auf kühl, warm oder
heiß(Abb.5).

- Mit der Heißluftstufe 6 können Sie nasses Haar schnell und sicher
trocknen, bis es feucht ist.
- Mit der Warmluftstufe 5 können Sie feuchtes Haar trocknen, bis es
fast trocken ist.
- Mit der Kaltluftstufe 4 können Sie fast trockenes Haar schonend
trocknen und ihm extra Glanz verleihen.

Tipp: Drücken Sie nach dem Trocknen der einzelnen Strähnen die
Kaltlufttaste, und richten Sie die Kaltluft zum Fixieren und für zusätzlichen
Glanz auf Ihre Haare (Abb. 7).
5 Nur HP8183/HP8182: Schalten Sie die Ionisierungsfunktion mithilfe
desIonen-Schalterseinoderaus(Abb.8).
,DieIonen-Betriebsanzeigeleuchtetauf,umanzuzeigen,dassdie
Ionisierungsfunktion aktiviert wurde.
Nur HP8181: Die Ionisierungsfunktion ist immer aktiviert.
Die Ionisierungsfunktion verleiht Ihrem Haar mehr Glanz, zerzaust es
weniger und reduziert die statische Auadung. Sie eignet sich
insbesondere für trockenes und fast trockenes Haar.
Stylingdüse
Mit der Stylingdüse können Sie den Luftstrom gezielt auf die Bürste oder
den Kamm richten, mit der bzw. dem Sie Ihr Haar stylen.

Zum Abnehmen wird die Stylingdüse einfach vom Gerät abgezogen.
Diffusor für extraVolumen (nur HP8183/HP8182)
Der Diffusor wurde zum schonenden Trocknen glatter sowie lockiger
oder welliger Haare entwickelt.

Zum Abnehmen wird der Diffusor einfach vom Gerät abgezogen.

Daumenauagen links und rechts neben dem Gitter und ziehen Sie
das Gitter vom Gerät.
- Zum Einsetzen des Lufteinlassgitters drücken Sie gleichzeitig die
Daumenauagen links und rechts neben dem Gitter und setzen Sie
das Gitter auf das Gerät.

Uso del aparato
Secado
1 Enchufe el aparato a la toma de corriente.

- Deslice el botón de ujo de aire hasta la posición II para un secado
ultra rápido.
- Deslice el botón de ujo de aire hasta la posición I para secar pelo

más potente (g. 4).
3 Deslice el botón de temperatura hasta la posición de aire frío,
templadoocaliente(g.5).
- La posición de aire caliente 6le permite secarse el cabello mojado
rápidamente y de forma segura hasta que quede húmedo.
- La posición de templado 5es especialmente adecuada para secar el
cabello húmedo hasta que esté casi seco.
- La posición de aire frío 4le permite secar de forma suave el cabello
que ya está casi seco, aportándole brillo.

4 Seque el cabello haciendo movimientos de cepillado con el secador
aunapequeñadistanciadelcabello(g.6).
Consejo: Cuando haya terminado de secar todas las secciones, pulse el botón
de chorro de aire frío y dirija el ujo de aire hacia el cabello. Esto ja el
peinado y le da más brillo (g. 7).
5 Sólo modelos HP8183 y HP8182: active o desactive la función de
ionesconelbotóndeiones(g.8).
,El piloto indicador de iones se ilumina para indicar que la función
de iones se ha activado.
Sólo modelo HP8181: la función de iones siempre está activada.
La función de iones proporciona brillo adicional al cabello y reduce el
encrespado y la electricidad estática, siendo especialmente adecuada para
el cabello seco o casi seco.
Boquilla concentradora
La boquilla concentradora le permite dirigir el ujo de aire directamente
al cepillo o peine que esté utilizando para dar forma a su cabello.

El difusor de volumen está diseñado especialmente para secar

Para quitar el difusor de volumen del aparato, tire del mismo.
2 Para añadir volumen desde las raíces, introduzca las púas en el

calientedemanerauniformeporelcabello(g.12).
Limpieza
