Thank you for choosing a Phonema speaker passionately designed by and for hams.
To fully enjoy the benefits of Miranda, please read these instructions thoroughly
before using it with transceiver or receiver.
At Phonema we have followed the most demanding acoustic criteria to provide a
speaker capable of delivering maximum quality sound. First of all, we have carefully
selected the membranes so that the signals are heard in a clear and comfortable way,
from weak Morse signals to powerful broadcast emissions. Secondly, we have filled in
the interior with absorbent materials to remove the annoying resonances that might
occur in traditional communications speakers. And finally, we have paid an exquisite
attention to design, transmitting warmth, elegance and personality to your shack.
Miranda, as a Phonema speaker, is a handmade piece created with enthusiasm and
dedication. We hope you enjoy it for a long time.
CHARACTERISTICS
The Miranda model is designed for modern transceivers with a front height of about 94 mm
(3,7 in). Additionally, thanks to its adjustable stand it can be perfectly adapted to
equipment whose height is between 84 mm (3,3 in) and 96 mm (3,78 in).
Designed to:
•Icom IC7300, IC725, IC728, IC730, IC735, IC821, IC910.
•Yaesu FT890, FT707, FT900, FT840, FT757, FT747, FT650 FT847 and FT77.
•Kenwood TS590, TS570, TS2000, TS450, TS440, TS430, TS711, TS811, TS140, TS680.
•TenTec Delta II and Argonaut II
•And other transceivers with similar dimensions.

Miranda presents a frequency response that clearly favors voice intelligibility in SSB.
Frequencies between 200 and 320 Hz have a certain attenuation that mitigates the QRM.
From 320 Hz onwards, sensitivity stays around 83 dB up to 1.2 KHz. Then, it rises to 88 dB
between 2 and 2.8 KHz.
In the bass sounds region the curve has an important emphasis between 120 and 200 Hz.
This feature offers the option to enjoy very solid bass sounds, both to AM listening and to
opening the SSB filter with wider signals.
Between 3.1 KHz and 18 KHz, Miranda offers a fairly flat curve that ensures good sound for
broadcast signals.

INSTALLATION
If your transceiver height is less than 94 mm, you can
remove the washers on the rubber feet. By doing that,
the speaker will be 2 mm lower. The extendable stand
will help you to raise the Miranda to the height of your
transceiver. 
To connect Miranda to your transceiver, first you need
to prepare the cable. You are welcome to use the
supplied cable and connector. On the one side, weld
the connector respecting polarity. On the other side, skin 10 mm (0,39 in) from each
conductor and tin it. You are ready now to interconnect the speaker and the transceiver
together using the input.
We strongly recommend the Gemini configuration, the use of two speakers, each one
oriented towards each ear. This practice improves hearing since sound gets at the same
intensity to your ears. Moreover, it allows concentration by reducing fatigue. Should you
just have one speaker, please place it centred respect your position and at your ears level.
You can use the extendable stand to orient the speaker to your ears and align it with your
transceiver. Remember not to exceed the maximum height of 50 mm (1,96 in)
The Miranda has got four threaded holes on both sides to adapt future accessories.
