1. INTRODUCTION
The constant development of connectors such as “Pin Strips” and the consequent increase in their use,
suggested Piergiacomi to develop a new specific pliers for a perfect, fast and easier cut of this kind of
connectors.
Actually, the using of the classic cutters on the market for the “Pin Strip” cutting, does not allow to have
satisfactory results both in terms of time and quality (clean cut, burrs presence etc...).
Piergiacomi’s pliers mod. STR-50 make easier and fast the cutting operation, leaving the part well finished
and without burrs. Thanks to the two adjustable blades supplied with the tool, it is possible to adjust the cut
at different pitches, making the pliers ideal for both straight and angled “Pin Strips” no matter if with
different pitch.
Furthermore the STR-50 pliers does not need maintenance and thanks to its small size, lightweight and
ergonomic grip, it is easy to use and to handle.
High quality of its materials guarantees a long life of the tool.

The STR-50 pliers is made of special steel, (5mm thickness). The coupling of the jaws is made on rectified
areas and central hole, providing to the tool precision in its movements.
The cutting blades, made of hardened steel, are rectified to give the maximum accuracy.
As shown in Figure 1, the tool has a recovery spring and a specially designed ergonomic shape handle that
reduce the operator’s fatigue.
The pliers has small dimensions (150 mm) which make it lightweight (about 100 gr.) and therefore very easy
to handle.
Furthermore, as explained above, the tool is supplied in a kit and includes two sliding adjustable blades
(marked by 1 and 2) to be used according to the type of connectors that have to be cut.
3. CUTTING LENGTH (pitch) ADJUSTMENT
The tool is supplied with two sliding adjustable blades (marked by 1 and by 2) to install according to
operator’s requirements.
The installed standard blade (1) it is suitable for almost all “Pin Strip” types.
The second supplied blade (2), it is suitable for some 90° angled pin strip connectors or for other particular
models.
Before using the pliers, it is necessary to adjust the sliding blade depending on the length/pitch of “Pin
Strips” that has to be cut.
To make the adjustment make the following steps:
1. Loosen the fixing blade knob (Fig. 1).
2. Place the connector, in correspondence of the blades where the cut is needed, precisely at the
centre among the two plastic body of the connectors (Fig. 3).
3. Tighten the pliers bringing the cutting blades in contact with the connectors, without make the
cutting while holding the pliers in this position.
4. Place the “metal pin” on the sliding adjustable blade stop, trying to maintain the parallelism with the
pliers (Fig. 2).
5. Tighten completely the fixing blade knob (Fig. 1).
N.B. NEVER loosen the adjustment screw sealed with red glue (Fig. 1).

4. USE OF THE TOOL
While using the STR-50 pliers it is necessary to wear always protection glasses.
The comprehension of this manual is very simply and do not requires particular technical notions.
After the cutting length/pitch adjustment (Cap. 3) it is possible to use the pliers.
The sequence below shows how to use correctly the tool.
1. Insert the connector between the cutting blades.
2. Place the longer metal pin on the sliding adjustable blade stop (Fig.2).
3. Tighten the pliers until the desired cut is made.
The cut of a single pin, should be realized without making adjustments on the sliding blade, leaving in any
case the blade on, eventually moved toward the outside.
N.B. - Do not use as stop the plastic body of the pin-strip, but exclusively the metal pin.
- Do not tighten the pliers without first completely screw the fixing blade knob.
MAINTENANCE:
Periodically spray a lubricant such as SVITOL or similar on the central screw, to facilitate the opening/closing
movement.
