[During
playback
and
recording]
With
this function, recording or playback can
be
performed in a single
direction (on a single side
of
a cassette tape).
When
the tape is
wound
fully
onto
one
of
the reels, the deck will automatically enter the stop
mode.

.....Repeat playback
Playback will continue until both sides
of
the tape have been played
back a total
of
12
times (six sides each),
or
until the stop switch ( • )
is pressed.
If
the pause switch (
II
) is pressed during the repeat
playback, the playback will
be
reset for
an
additional six full plays from
the point at
which
the playback is restarted (using a C-90 tape, a maxi-
mum
of
nine hours
of
continuous relay play
is
possible).

...........Auto-reverse recording
When
performing recording, auto-reverse can
be
performed onlyfrom
the forward direction
to
the reverse direction. As a result, when auto-
reverse recording is desired, always start from the forward direction. If
the
tape is started from the reverse direction, the tape travel will
automaticaly stop when the tape reaches its end on the reverse side,
without
performing auto-reverse (the forward side will
not
be
re-
corded).

This tape deck is equipped
with
rotating heads; when the cassette's
leader tape (the part
oflhe
tape
without
magnetic media) is detected
by the sensor, the heads rotate
to
automatically reverse the playback
or recording surface (an optical leader-tape detector is used). This
is
a
convenient feature which eliminates the need
to
manually reverse the
tape cassette in the deck.
NOTE:--
-
------------------,
When the auto-reverse function operates during playback or record-
ing, the tape's
sound
is interrupted briefly;
in
order
to
keep this
interruption as short as possible, a leader tape sensor is provided.
This sensor detects the clear leader material
and
operates the auto
reverse mechanism,
but
it
may
not
operate properly
in
the following
cases:
• If a spotlight or other strong light is directed near the heads.
•
If
characters or marks are imprinted on the leader tape.
• If the tape is damaged severely.
•
If
the leader tape is encounteredwithin aboutei
ght

the beginning
of
tape travel.
• When performing random programmed playback.
