Sensing & Logging
The Pivot app helps you visualize and understand
the carbon monoxide (CO) levels in your breath.
A simple logging tool lets you track cigarettes, so
you can see things like how much time you spend
smoking and how your patterns aect CO levels.
Learning
Activities and lessons in the App use proven
methods to help you discover new things about
your smoking, raise your interest in quitting, and
develop the conidence and skills to try.
Community
Join a group of peers who support each other
through the process of quitting smoking. Current
and former smokers provide helpful resources,
information and experiences to help you quit
smoking for good.

First Time Using Your Sensor

Typical levels for a non-smoker,
and should be your goal.
It is normal to have some CO in your body.
0–6 ppm
Borderline values that may
be found in smokers and
non-smokers.
7–9 ppm
Typical levels for a smoker.
10+ ppm
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a gas found in
cigarette smoke.
CO levels in your breath rise with smoking and
fall when not smoking.
Each of your breath sample results is displayed
on the sensor screen with a color and a number
measured in parts per million (ppm).

Interpreting Your Results

Use the Pivot app to connect your Sensor
and your smartphone for even more info about
your CO.
1. On your smartphone, open the App Store (iOS)
or the Google Play Store (Android).
2. Search for “Pivot Breath Sensor”, then
download and open the app.
3. Log into Pivot using the username and
password you created during sign-up—or if you
don’t have an account, go to www.pivot.co to
sign up.

4. After completing the introduction, look for the
breath sensor icon on the Home screen to add
your sensor.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your
sensor and learn more about how to use it.
6. Now the sensor can connect to your
smartphone, where you can see all of your
results, and more!

Replacing the Mouthpiece

1. To remove, grip the
front and back of the
mouthpiece. Firmly pull it
away from the sensor.
2. To connect, slide the
mouthpiece into the
opening and push until
you hear a click.

cable into your computer
or a USB compatible
hub/wall charger (not

We recommend charging
your sensor every 4–7
days or whenever your
battery is low.

Cleaning your Pivot Breath Sensor is optional.
If you chose to clean the sensor:
Use a lightly damp cloth to wipe down the
outside of the CO Breath Sensor.
Do not allow water to enter any openings in the
device. Do not submerge the CO Breath Sensor
in water or other liquids.
Do not use any alcohol containing products,
such as alcohol wipes or gel, on the CO Breath
Sensor. Alcohol-based cleaners may interfere
with the function of the CO Breath Sensor.
Your CO Breath Sensor Mouthpiece is reusable
and may be cleaned.
To clean, remove the mouthpiece from the
device (see page 17) and wash with mild soap
and water. Allow to completely dry before use.

USAGE INFORMATION
Ensure that your Pivot Breath Sensor is kept
away from small children under 3 years of age
and pets when not in use. The Sensor includes
a small mouthpiece that could pose a choking
hazard.
Low levels of CO in your exhaled breath (for
example, 06 ppm) do not indicate that it is safe
for you to smoke. Smoking is harmful to your
health and any amount of smoking is unsafe.
!Precautions When Giving Breath Samples
Sit down while doing breath samples. Holding your
breath and then blowing into the device may cause
you to become dizzy, which may lead to falls.
When taking a deep breath in to do a breath sample,
do not take this breath in through the Pivot Breath
Sensor.
Do not use the Pivot Breath Sensor while operating any
type of vehicle or machinery as you may be distracted
from the operation.
Do not strain yourself while doing a breath sample.
This may cause dizziness, which may lead to falls.
