Experienced users and system administrators can follow the instructions in this
document to install either the AX4 or AX5 display controller. Each board provides
two ports for dual-display functionality.
Check the system requirements and the safety precautions on page 3.
Then follow this order of installation for the Dome display system.
1 Install the display controller into your computer.
2 Connect one or two displays to the display controller.
3 Install the display driver.
4 Congure the display(s).
5 Install the Dome CXtra software.
For more information, refer to the user’s manuals for the display and
the Dome CXtra software.
The port assignments for each display controller
are provided in the following table.

Before disconnecting a peripheral or removing
a component from the motherboard, wait 20
seconds after unplugging the power cord to
avoid possible damage to the motherboard.
Wear an antistatic heel or wrist strap when
installing the board to avoid damage to
computer components.
Discharge your body’s static electricity by
touching the power supply or the metal
surface of the computer chassis.

Before You Begin
Check that your system meets these requirements and runs one of
these operating systems.

Installing the Display Controller
Remove any existing graphics card and its driver from your computer system
before you install the display controller and driver. Also disable any onboard
graphics capability on the motherboard. See safety precautions on page 3.

To install the controller
1 Turn o your computer and
all peripherals. Disconnect all
cables from your computer.
Leave the power cord plugged
into the grounded outlet.
2 Remove the computer cover.
3 Remove any existing graphics
card and video signal cable,
if necessary.
4 Remove the blank bracket from
the available PCI Express slot.
5 Insert the controller into the slot,
align the connector pins, and
press the board down until it is
rmly seated.
6 Secure the mounting bracket.
7 Reattach the computer cover
and the peripherals.

Connecting the Display
Use only the cables and power cord supplied with your display.
To connect the display
1 Plug one end of the DVI signal cable to the DVI port on the display.
Tighten the thumbscrews to secure the connection.
2 Plug the power cord into the power input port.
3 Plug the other end of the DVI cable into the video port on the installed
controller. (Use the bottom port for a single display installation or for
the rst display of a dual setup.)
4 Plug the other end of the power cord into a grounded outlet.
5 Repeat steps 1 to 4 to connect a second display to the controller.
6 Power on your display rst, then the computer.
NOTE: See page 2 for the port assignment of functionality on the AX4 and
AX5 display controllers.

Before you install the driver, remove any previously installed display driver for
the display controller from your system.
To install the driver
1 Start the system. Click Cancel on the Found New Hardware Wizard. Click No
when the system prompts you to restart the computer.
2 Insert the driver installation CD and run SETUP.EXE.
3 Click Next.
4 Click Yes to the license agreement.The installation starts.
5 Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Planar recommends that you select the Express installation option.
6 When the Setup complete message appears, select Yes, I want to restart
my computer now and click Finish.
7 If the Digital Signature Not Found message appears, click Yes or Continue
to complete the driver installation.

Use the Display Properties dialog to make changes to the video settings.
To set the display mode manually
1 Right-click the desktop and select Properties > Settings.
2 Select the monitor that you want to change.Then click Advanced.
3 Click the Monitor tab.Make sure that the check box for Hide modes that
this monitor cannot display is empty (unchecked).
4 Click the Adapter tab, then click the List All Modes button.
5 Choose the mode and click OK.Then click Apply or OK.
To set the brightness
You must have the Dome CXtra software installed to change the display
brightness. Adjust the value of the white level on the Backlight tab of the
RightLight Panel Conguration.
