Synchronizing Time of Day
in Multisport Clocks and Scoreboards
One clock/scoreboard is manually designated as leader; all other clocks/scoreboards are
followers. This allows the leader to be placed in a logical, central location where it can reach all
followers. A clock/scoreboard that is designated as leader will display Lead in its boot-up cycle.
The leader clock sends a synchronization pulse every minute, on the minute

synchronization pulse.

synchronization pulse
These decimal point flashes allow you to see that the leader is sending and the followers are
receiving.
Initial Set Up
1. Make sure all clocks and scoreboards to be synchronized are set to the same channel
number and PAN ID (described briefly below; see the product’s user manual for more
detail).
2. Choose a centrally located clock or scoreboard to designate as Leader
3. Configure Leader and set time:
a. Slim Pace Clock or Deck Clock, use either push button on clock or controller
b. Scoreboards must use a controllers (WTTC, WA-3 or WA-2 to set leader and
followers; WTTC or WHC to set time and channel/PAN).
4. Designate all other clocks as Follower
5. Do not set more than one clock as leader; if you do, follower clocks will not behave
correctly.
Configuring with Push Button (for Slim Pace Clock or Deck Clock only)
Hold the push button for 2 seconds and release to cause the clock to enter the menu. The clock
enters Menu 1, as described below. Once in the menu, hold the button for one second to
advance to the next menu item. If you continue to hold, the clock will step through the menu
options every second. Release the button when you are in the menu option you wish to set.
Exit the menu by holding the push button for one second after the address option (A). The
settings you have chosen are only saved after you exit the menu. When you exit the menu, time
of day is set at :00 seconds. It can take a full minute for followers to synchronize with the leader.
Menu 1: Leader or Follower
Displays FOLL and alternates to Lead with each button click. When the choice you want is
displayed, press and hold the button for one second to advance to the next menu.
Menus 2 through 4: Setting time
Once a clock is designated Leader, the next three menus allow you to set 12 or 24 hour clock
format, hours and minutes. Clocks that are designated as Followers do not have these options.

To change the channel and PAN, continue through the menu to those settings. Channel is C
and PAN is P.
Designating Leader/Follower with WTTC, WA-3 or WA-2
1. Connect a WTTC, WA-3 or WA-2 to your computer using a USB cable.
2. Make sure the Channel and PAN are set to match your clock/scoreboard
a. WA-3 or WA-2: use the dipswitches on the device
b. WTTC: use the on-screen menu. After checking /setting the Channel and PAN
and saving any changes, turn the unit off and then on again and leave it at the
Sport Selection menu.
3. From your computer, open the MultiSport Firmware Reprogramming tool.
a. If you do not have this tool, download it from the CTS website at
https://www.coloradotime.com/support-overview/installation-methods. Choose
the MultiSport tab and download MultiSport Display Firmware.
4. Click “Scan for Devices”
5. Select your attached WTTC or WA-3/WA-2 (WA-3 will be listed as WA2)
6. Click “Get Sub-Devices”
7. Select the clock/scoreboard you wish to set as leader.
a. Click the “Enable (as Leader)” button at the bottom of the screen.
b. The clock/scoreboard will display Lead for a few seconds
8. One by one, select the clocks you wish to set as follower.
a. Click the “Enable (as Follower)” button at the bottom of the screen.
b. The clock/scoreboard will display FOLL for a few seconds
9. Close the software and disconnect you WTTC, WA-3 or WA-2.
Setting Time of Day and Changing Channel with Wireless Tabletop
Controller (WTTC)
For tabletop controller (WTTC), enter any sport and press the Menu button. Select “Set Time”.
Time of Day from WTTC will override the time on the leader and all follower clocks and
scoreboards.
To change the channel and PAN, select “Scoreboard Options” in the Menu.
When finished, press Clear to exit the menu.
Setting Time of Day and Changing Channel with Wireless Handheld
Controller (WHC)
For handheld controller (WHC), enter the Menu and select “Time of Day”. Time of Day from
WHC will override the time on the leader and all follower clocks and scoreboards.
To change the channel and PAN, select “Connections”
Time of Day from a Sports Console (Gen 7, System 6, System 5)
Gen7 timers will receive time of day from the attached laptop and transmit that time to leader
clocks/scoreboards that are turned on and on the same channel and PAN. You can also
manually send time of day from the scoreboard settings screen. The leader will update the
followers.
System 6 and System 5 sports consoles will send time of day to leader clocks/scoreboards
connected to them via RS-232 or wirelessly from WA-3/WA-2 on the same channel and PAN.
The leader will then update the followers.
