Chapter 1: Your bioPLUXresearch
The bioPLUXresearch aims to provide biofeedback and relaxation and help re-educate muscle in training
sessions of physical rehabilitation. bioPLUXresearch system cannot be used as a measuring instrument,
diagnosis or diagnostic aid.
The bioPLUXresearch is a device that collects and digitalizes signals from the sensors, transmitting them
via bluetooth to the computer where the signals are shown in real-time
The bioPLUXresearch system core philosophy is: ease of use, flexibility, reliability and portability.
The principle of operating bioPLUXresearch system is based on three principles: connect, acquire and
visualize. The purpose of this system is to make the use of biofeedback practical and versatile, making your
job as a physiotherapist easier and, through pleasant graphics, enhance the perception of movement by
the user during the training of rehabilitation that is taking place.
Operating the bioPLUXresearch begins in collecting biosinais by the sensors placed on the skin of the user
and connected to the bioPLUXresearch signal acquisition device. The device gets and sends them (in real
time) via Bluetooth to the computer.
These signals are processed and transformed into attractive graphics and animations that are viewable by
the user and therapist on the computer screen through the biofeedback software.
The bioPLUXresearch channels are 12 bit, with a sample frequency of 1000Hz. It also has a digital port, a
connector for the transformer to recharge the internal battery (providing 12 hours autonomy) and a channel
to connect the reference electrode, an essential requirement to correctly monitor the electromyographic
signal.

Switching it on
In order for the device to work, it must be switched on:

Status indicator
Status: Charging (solid green light)
bioPLUXresearch is switched off and recharging
Status: Standby (blinking green light once per second)
bioPLUXresearch is on and on standby
Status: Synchronized (green led blinks twice per second).)
bioPLUXresearch is sending data to the computer
Status: Recharging alert (solid red led)
Alert that in the last usage, the device was fully discharged.
Reconnect the charger.
Status – Low Battery while Synchronized (orange led
blinking)
Battery is low. Recharge the device.
Status – Low Battery (solid red led)
Battery is low. Recharge the device.
The status of the bioPLUXresearch is indicated via leds on
the device. The various modes are shown below.

Connecting the sensors
The sensors should be connected to channels one through 8 as shown in the figure below. The reference
electrode should be connected to the respective channel (g). Take care not to connect the sensors to the
digital input\output channel (see identification of channels on page 6).
When connecting the sensors, pay attention to where the cables go to avoid disrupting the patient's
movements.
