Description
The Pneumex Ultima Vest is a totally new concept in
unweighting. It was designed in cooperation with a long‐term
care corporate to be comfortable, color coded, easy to use and
functional for even the most difficult to fit patients. This vest is
designed to place the primary lift point at the posterior rib cage
T12 to T10 and bring the primary anterior stabilization points
medial to brachial plexus. The net effect of the technology is a
more comfortable, more secure vest that significantly opens
up lung capacity.

Small Red 28” to 34”
Medium Blue 34” to 44”
Large Yellow 44” to 55”
Available in custom sizing Pediatric to Bariatric on request
Putting on the Ultima Vest
The vest will be packaged with Thoracic and Leg Cuff
hooked together, gray Thoracic connector straps secured
into the gray tabbed Thoracic connector buckles. For ease
of use keep the vest buckled in this configuration. If they are
separated, re‐attach them by inserting the four gray straps
into the corresponding gray tabbed buckles.
(See diagram page 6‐7)
Due to the nature of the back elastic
support, it may be necessary to
stretch the vest before putting on the
patient . This returns the elastic to the
longer position .Lengthen all other
straps before putting the vest on your
patient.

Putting on the Ultima Vest
Before putting the vest on, make sure the patient is wearing
appropriate clothing. Layered, bulky, loose fitting and slick
clothing will tend to allow the vest to ride up.
For ease of use, attach the vest to the
unweighting system.
►If using a PneuWeight, pull cable
assembly out to approximately the
right position for the person being
unweighted.
►If using the PneuWalker, clip to the
desired patient ports on the Lift Arm.
Have the patient back into the vest.
Put their right arm through the right
side of the vest and the left arm through
the left side of the vest.

Fig 2Fig 1

16
Bring vest around patient positioning the elastic Thoracic
belt with it’s center equal to T12. secure the Velcro front
and buckle both blue and red straps across the waist pull‐
ing on loops to tighten.
Adjust Anterior Tension Straps equally and as close to
the shoulders as is allowed.
Lift patient out of wheel chair just enough to slide the
Leg Cuffs under the gluteal fold. Thoracic pressure
tolerance will vary
from patient to
patient, practice this
with able bodied
person first.

17
Secure the Leg cuffs around the thigh.. Lower your
patient back into the wheel chair and tighten up all
the straps if necessary. The tighter the grey straps,
the more pressure there will be on the Leg cuffs..
Unweight patient until in standing position. Reduce
the unweighting as necessary to facilitate
mobilization.
It is suggested that the patient exercise in short sets
of about 1 to 3 minutes duration to start with. Roll
chair behind patient and lower them for a brief rest
period. Raise again and continue.

18
Most common challenges:
Thoracic Belt too loose
Solution. Reposition and snug up blue Abdominal strap by pulling
on loops.
Leg Straps positioned incorrectly, so it impedes movement or
vest rides up.
Solution: Reposition around thighs and adjust slide straps.
