THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING POLSEN.
The Polsen RM-650 is a large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser microphone that’s great for a wide
range of projects like broadcasts and podcasts, as well as recording singers and instruments. The microphone
features a large and highly sensitive one-inch gold-plated diaphragm to capture voices and instruments with
detailed accuracy. The high SPL capacity, low noise, and wide dynamic range meet the demands for clear and
natural sound in both professional and project studios. The cardioid polar pattern picks up the sound directly
in front of the mic while it rejects off-axis sound, which is ideal for studio recording, as well as on-stage
performance. To further ensure clean vocals, the RM-650 includes a customized metal mesh pop screen to
minimize disruptive vocal plosives. The RM-650 is stylishly designed with a unique look, but it’s constructed with
a metal housing for rugged durability.

MOUNTING THE MICROPHONE
1. Screw the shock mount onto the threaded post of a mic stand.
For 5/8-inch posts, remove the adapter bushing from the shock mount’s socket.
2. Once secure, loosen the locking ring on the bottom of the shock mount, and insert the base of the
microphone though the mounting hole.
3. Tighten the locking ring until secure.
4. If needed, adjust the angle of the microphone by loosening the locking knob on the shock mount. Be sure to
hold the microphone with one hand while performing this operation.
6
RECORDING WITH THE RM-650
1. Turn the speaker volume down, and use an XLR cable to connect the microphone to a preamplier, mixing
boards, or recorder.
Note:Recording directly into a computer requires an XLR-to-USB adapter such as the Polsen XLR-USB-48.
2. Turn the phantom power on.
3. Turn the speaker volume up, and set the input level on the recording device.
For best recording results, point the microphone directly at the sound source.
Vocalists and announcers should be positioned approximately 6 to 12 inches from the microphone. For close
vocal miking, use the included pop lter to prevent vocal pops or plosives.
To attach the pop lter, snap it onto the stem, just below the mic capsule, and make sure it’s directly in front of
the microphone.
