INTRODUCTION
The spring-driven, auto-retracting hose reel comes with 100 foot (30.5 m) of
grade T, 1/4 in. twin hose.

3. Store unused tools properly in a dry, safe and secure location to prevent
rust, damage or misuse.
PERSONAL SAFETY
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the
Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American National Standards
Institute (ANSI).
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
1. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side protection
for the eyes. Eye protection equipment should comply with CSA Z94.3-07
or ANSI Z87.1 standards based on the type of work performed.
2. Wear protective clothing and gloves designed for the work environment,
materials and tools.
a. Do not wear gloves when operating a tool that can snag the material
and pull the hand into the tool.
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid
personal injury or damage to tool.
1. Do not operate any tool when tired or under the inuence of drugs,
alcohol or medications.
2. Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with the
moving parts of a tool. Keep long hair covered or bound.
3. Avoid unintentional starts. Be sure that the regulator/throttle switch is in
the neutral or OFF position when not in use and before connecting it to
any air source.
SPECIFIC SAFETY
DANGER! DO NOT open the reel case. Do not attempt to disassemble the
main spring assembly. A spring that is under high tension can cause
serious personal injury or death when released. Have the tool repaired
by a certied technician.
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from
repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use
this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suer serious personal injury.

1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a specic
function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an unintended
purpose.
2. Do not use the tool if any parts are damage broken or misplaced. Repair or
replace the parts.
a. A qualied technician is required to replace or repair the reel’s
internal mechanism.
3. Ensure that reel is properly installed before connecting input and output
hoses.
4. Before connecting the reel to the supply line, ensure that the pressure
does not exceed the maximum working pressure rating of the reel.
a. Keep the acetylene gas pressure level to 15 PSI or less.
5. Always install reverse ow check valves and ashback arrestors on the
torch and regulators.
6. Remove system pressure immediately if a leak occurs in the hoses or reel,
or if the reel ceases to wind and unwind.
a. Follow proper shut-down steps to avoid a ashback.
7. Do not abruptly jerk on the hoses, as this can damage the hoses or locking
mechanism.
8. Exercise care when handling the retractable reel during normal operation.
The reel has rotating drum powered by a spring under tension. Do not
allow the welding hoses to retract without restraining the recoil speed.
Never let go of the welding hoses when rewinding.
9. Follow the manufacturer instructions for the gas cylinder during set-up
and operation.
10. Turn OFF the valve and discharge any remaining gas after each use or
before adjusting the tool.
GAS HOSE PRECAUTIONS
1. Inspect the tool's gas hoses for cracks, fraying or other faults before each
use. Discontinue use if the gas hose is damaged or hissing is heard from
the gas hoses or couplers. Replace the defective gas hose.
2. Do not allow people, mobile equipment or vehicles to pass over the
unprotected gas hoses. Position the gas hoses away from high trac
areas, in a reinforced conduit or place planks on both sides of the gas
hose to create a protective trench.

3. Prevent damage to the gas hoses by observing the following:
a. Keep the gas hoses behind the tool and out of the tool's work path.
b. Keep the gas hoses away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
c. Do not wrap the gas hoses around the tool as sharp edges may
pierce or crack the gas hoses. Gently coil the hoses and either hang
on a hook or fasten with a device to keep hoses together when
storing.
4. Use the correct grade of welding hoses with the gas tanks.
a. Only use a grade T welding hose (red) with acetylene.
b. Only use a grade T welding hose (green) with oxygen.
c. Install regulators on both grade T hoses.
5. Install an in-line shuto valve or regulator to allow immediate control over
the gas supply in an emergency, even if a hose is ruptured.
UNPACKING
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace
the missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a
malfunction and personal injury.
Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage.

IDENTIFICATION KEY
The diagram below is a general representation of the retractable oxy-fuel
twin welding hose reel. Your tool may have a dierent conguration, but the
components and functions are the same.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
1. Select an indoor wall or ceiling location. The mounting location must have
solid construction. Drywall will not hold the reel in place.
2. Determine where you want to attach the xed plate to the oor, wall or
ceiling.
• You may install the hose reel on a vehicle. Consult a mechanic or
technician with the appropriate knowledge on the best set-up for
your vehicle.
3. Decide which direction you want the hose to leave the reel. You may need
to rotate the guide arm's position on the xed bottom plate.
a. Pull out several lengths of hose until you hear a click. The reel latch
is locked in place.
b. Remove the bolts and nuts holding the guide arm to the xed bottom
plate.
c. Rotate the guide arm until the hose guide opening is facing the
chosen direction.

d. Insert the bolts through the guide arm and xed bottom plates.
Secure with the nuts.
4. Turn the reel drum by hand until the rewind spring is tight and the drum
has latched. Secure the drum in its latched position.
5. Mounting on a wall or ceiling.
a. Locate a wall or ceiling beam (use a stud
nder, if needed) and using the mounting
bracket as a template, mark the holes so they
are centered on the beam.
b. Drive two cement or wood screws into the
marks for the open bolt holes on the xed
bottom plate. Leave enough of a gap between
the screw heads and the wall or ceiling to
slide the plate into place.
c. Slide the mounting bracket onto the screws. Finish tightening the
screws to hold the reel in place.
d. Drive the two front cement or wood screws into the front marks
through the bolt holes until the bottom plate will not move.
6. Release the drum latch carefully and control the welding hoses so that
they wind onto the reel evenly.
7. Adjust the bumper to the suitable position when required.
a. Loosen the screw holding both halves of the bumper enough to slide
the bumper.
b. Pull out the welding hoses until enough is hanging out. Slide the
bumper to the desired location.
c. Pull the welding hoses out to unlatch the drum and allow the hoses
to retract to the bumper.
OPERATION
NOTICE! Do not allow the hoses to retract without controlling the recoil
speed. Do not let go of the hoses when rewinding.
1. Slowly pull the outlet hoses out of the reel to avoid jarring them.
• Stop pulling the hoses out when both hose’s back mark appears.
Pulling beyond that point can damage the hoses and mechanism.

2. Introduce slack into the hoses and the reel will latch.
3. Pull the hoses again and the reel will unlatch. Guide the hoses back into
the reel by hand until the bumper rests against the reel.
4. Periodically check the hoses condition for wear or damage. Check the
swivel body for leakage. Replace any worn, damaged or leaking parts.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
DANGER! DO NOT open the reel case. Do not attempt to disassemble the
main spring assembly. A spring that is under high tension can cause
serious personal injury or death when released. Have the tool repaired
by a certied technician.
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is ecient, easier to
control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or
worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
3. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool. Follow instructions
for changing accessories.
4. Keep the tool handles or gripping surfaces clean and dry.
5. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for
replacements.
6. Lubricate o-ring seals with an oxygen-compatible product such as silicone.
7. Do not use oil or grease in the gas hose connections. They are ammable
and may burn in the presence of pure oxygen.
WARNING! Only qualied service personnel should repair the tool. An
improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
ADJUSTING THE SPRING TENSION
NOTICE! Do not exceed the winding mechanism's spring capacity when
increasing the spring tension. An overtensioned spring will cause
damage to the mechanism.
1. Pull 6 to 8 ft (1.82 to 2.43 m) of welding hoses out of the reel and allow
the drum to latch.
2. Remove the welding hose bumper. Pull the welding hoses through the
guide rollers.

3. Adjust the spring tension by winding or unwinding the welding hoses.
a. To increase spring tension, wind the loose welding hoses around the
drum for one revolution.
b. To decrease spring tension, unwind the spooled welding hoses from
the drum for one revolution.
4. Reinsert the welding hoses through the guide rollers and reinstall the
welding hose bumper at the desired distance.
5. Unlatch the drum and check the spring tension.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until the desired tension is achieved.
HOSE REPLACEMENT
Replace a welding hose when it leaks or is damaged.
1. Make sure the valves on the pressurized tanks and the welding hose
regulators are closed. The welding hoses should have not gas in it.
2. Remove the bumper and push the hoses through the guide arm opening.
3. Remove the bolts and nuts holding the guide arm to the mounting
bracket. Set the guide arm and hardware aside.
4. Pull the welding hoses out until it reaches the nal latched position.
5. Loosen the hose nut connecting each welding hose to the valve body. Pull
each hose out of the drum wall opening and o the drum. Remove the
protective spring from each hose.
6. Reattach the guide arm. Make sure it is in the same position.
7. Thread the hoses through the guide arm opening and pull several feet of
each welding hose over the drum.
8. Slide a protective spring onto each hose.
9. Clean the valve body threads of all sealant residue. Apply new thread
sealant. Make sure to use an oxygen compatible sealant on the outlet's
threads.
10. Screw a hose nut onto the valve body's threaded outlet. Make sure the
green hose attaches to the oxygen outlet and the red hose attaches to the
acetylene outlet. Tighten both nuts with a wrench.
11. Adjust the protective springs to sit in the drum's side opening to protect
the hoses. Pull the slack welding hoses through the springs.
12. Carefully and slowly release the drum by gently pulling then releasing the
locking ratchet. Then slowly allow the dual hose to retract onto the reel.

Stop the rewinding with several feet of welding hose hanging from the
reel.
13. Reinstall the bumper on the hoses where you wish it to stop.
DISPOSAL
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does not function
properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualied technician
service the tool.

AIRE DE TRAVAIL
1. Travaillez dans un environnement de travail sécuritaire. Gardez votre aire
de travail propre, bien éclairée et exempte de toute distraction. Placez les
lampes de façon à ne pas travailler dans l’ombre.
2. Assurez-vous que les personnes qui ne portent pas l’équipement de
sécurité approprié ne se trouvent pas à proximité de l’aire de travail.
3. Rangez les outils inutilisés correctement dans un lieu sécurisé et sec pour
empêcher la rouille, les dommages ou un mauvais usage.
SÉCURITÉ PERSONNELLE
AVERTISSEMENT! Portez de l’équipement de protection individuelle
homologué par l’Association canadienne de normalisation (CSA) ou

ÉQUIPEMENT DE PROTECTION INDIVIDUELLE

SÉCURITÉ SPÉCIFIQUE
DANGER! N’ouvrez PAS le boîtier d’enrouleur. N’essayez pas de démonter
l’ensemble de ressort principal. En cas de relâchement, un ressort sous
tension élevée peut causer des blessures corporelles graves ou la mort.
Faites réparer l’outil par un technicien accrédité.
AVERTISSEMENT! Peu importe votre aisance ou votre familiarité avec le
produit (à force de vous en servir), respectez TOUJOURS et strictement
les règles de sécurité. Si vous utilisez cet outil de façon dangereuse ou
incorrecte, vous pouvez subir des blessures corporelles graves.
1. Utilisez le bon outil pour la tâche à eectuer. Cet outil a été conçu pour
une utilisation spécique. Évitez de modier ou d’altérer cet outil ou de
l’utiliser à une n autre que celle pour laquelle il a été conçu.
2. N’utilisez pas l’outil si des pièces présentent des dommages ou sont
déplacées. Réparez ou remplacez les pièces.
a. Il faut un technicien qualié pour remplacer ou réparer le mécanisme
interne de l’enrouleur.
3. Assurez-vous que l'enrouleur est bien installe avant de brancher les
tuyaux d'entree et de sortie.
4. Avant de raccorder l'enrouleur a la conduite d'alimentation, assurezvous
que la pression n'excede pas la pression de travail nominale maximale de
l'enrouleur.
a. Maintenez le niveau de pression du gaz d’acétylène à 15 lb/po carré
ou moins.
5. Installez toujours des clapets de non-retour de débit inversé et des
antiretours pare-ammes sur le chalumeau et les régulateurs.
6. Enlevez immediatement la pression des systeme si une fuite apparaît au
niveau du tuyau ou de l'enrouleur ou si l'enrouleur cesse d'enrouler et de
derouler.
a. Suivez les étapes d’arrêt appropriées pour éviter un retour de
amme.
7. Ne tirez pas brusquement sur les tuyau car cela peut endommager le
tuyau ou le mecanisme de verrouillage.
8. Procédez avec précaution en manipulant l’enrouleur rétractable pendant
son fonctionnement normal. L’enrouleur est muni d’un tambour rotatif
entraîné par un ressort sous tension. Ne laissez pas le tuyau de gaz

s’enrouler sans limiter sa vitesse de rembobinage. Ne lâchez jamais le
tuyau de gaz au cours du rembobinage.
9. Observez les instructions du fabricant de la bouteille de gaz pendant la
conguration et le fonctionnement.
10. Fermez la soupape et évacuez toute le gaz restante après chaque
utilisation ou avant d’ajuster l’outil.
PRÉCAUTIONS ENTOURANT LE TUYAU DE GAZ
1. Inspectez les tuyau de gaz de l’outil pour déceler des ssures, des
elochures et tout autre défaut avant chaque utilisation. Arrêtez
l’utilisation si les tuyau de gaz sont endommagé ou si un siement se
fait entendre provenant des tuyau de gaz ou des raccords. Remplacez les
tuyau de gaz défectueux.
2. Veillez à ce que personne, ni aucun matériel mobile ou véhicule ne passe
sur les tuyau de gaz non protégé. Placez les tuyau de gaz à l’écart des
zones de circulation intense, soit à l’intérieur d’un conduit renforcé, ou
placez des planches des deux côtés du tuyau de gaz an de créer un
couloir protecteur.
3. Prévenez les dommages aux tuyau de gaz en respectant les consignes
suivantes :
a. Gardez les tuyau de gaz derrière l’outil et hors du trajet de l’outil.
b. Gardez les tuyau de gaz à l’écart des sources de chaleur, d’huile, des
bords coupants ou des pièces mobiles.
c. N’enroulez pas les tuyau de gaz autour de l’outil, car les bords
coupants risquent de percer ou ssurer les tuyau de gaz. Enroulez
délicatement les tuyau et suspendez-le à un crochet ou attachez-le à
un dispositif pour qu’il reste enroulé lors de l’entreposage.
4. Utilisez la bonne catégorie de tuyau de soudages avec le(s) réservoirs de
carburant.
a. Utilisez seulement un tuyau de soudage de catégorie T (rouge) avec
le gaz acétylène.
b. Utilisez seulement un tuyau de soudage de catégorie T (vert) avec le
gaz l’oxygène.
c. Installez des régulateurs sur les tuyaux de catégorie T.

5. Installez une soupape d’arrêt ou un régulateur sur la conduite an de

d’urgence, même si un tuyau se fend.

Remplacez les pièces manquantes avant l’utilisation. Le non-respect de
cet avertissement peut entraîner une défectuosité et des blessures
corporelles.
Retirez les pièces et les accessoires de l’emballage et vériez s’il y a des
dommages.

Le diagramme ci-dessous est une représentation générale de l’enrouleur
avec l’enrouleur avec tuyau double de soudure au gaz oxygéné rétractable.
Votre outil pourrait être conguré diéremment, mais ses composants et son
fonctionnement sont les mêmes.

ASSEMBLAGE ET INSTALLATION
1. Sélectionnez un endroit sur un mur intérieur ou un plafond. La position
de montage doit avoir une construction solide. Une cloison sèche ne
maintiendra pas l’enrouleur en place.
2. Déterminez où vous voulez xer la plaque xe au plancher, au mur ou au
plafond.
• Vous pouvez installer l’enrouleur pour tuyau sur un véhicule.
Consultez un mécanicien ou un technicien qui possède les
connaissances appropriées pour connaître la meilleure conguration
pour votre véhicule.
3. Décidez de la direction dans laquelle vous voulez que le tuyau se déroule
de l’enrouleur. Vous pourriez avoir à tourner le bras de guidage se
trouvant sur la plaque xe inférieure.
a. Sortez plusieurs longueurs de tuyau jusqu’à ce que vous entendiez un
clic. L’enrouleur est maintenant verrouillé en position.
b. Retirez les boulons et les écrous qui maintiennent le bras de guidage
à la plaque xe inférieure.

c. Tournez le bras de guidage jusqu’à ce que l’ouverture du guide-tuyau
soit face à la direction choisie.
d. Insérez les boulons dans le bras de guidage et les plaques xes
inférieures. Fixez le tout au moyen des écrous.
4. Tournez le tambour de l’enrouleur à la main jusqu’à ce que le ressort de
rappel soit serré et que le tambour se soit verrouillé. Fixez le tambour
dans sa position verrouillée.
5. Montage sur un mur ou au plafond.
a. Repérez un montant de mur ou une traverse
de plafond (au besoin, utilisez un localisateur
de montants) en vous servant du support de
montage comme modèle, marquez les trous
de manière à ce qu’ils soient centrés sur la
traverse.
b. Insérez deux vis à ciment ou à bois dans les
marques pour les trous de boulon ouverts FIGURE 2.
sur la plaque fixe inférieure. Laissez assez
d’espace entre les têtes de vis et le mur ou le plafond pour glisser la
plaque en place.
c. Glissez le support de montage sur les vis. Finissez de serrer les vis
pour fixer l’enrouleur en place.
d. Insérez deux vis à ciment ou à bois dans les marques avant par les
trous de boulon jusqu’à ce que la plaque inférieure ne bouge plus.
6. Libérez soigneusement le verrou du tambour et retenez les tuyaux de
soudage pour vous assurer qu’ils s’enroulent correctement sur l’enrouleur.
7. Au besoin, réglez la butée à une position adéquate.
a. Desserrez la vis qui maintient les deux moitiés de la butée
suffisamment pour faire glisser la butée.
b. Tirez sur les tuyaux de soudage jusqu’à ce qu’ils dépassent
suffisamment. Faites glisser la butée à l’emplacement souhaité.
c. Tirez sur les tuyaux de soudage pour libérer le tambour et permettre
aux tuyaux de se rétracter jusqu’à la butée.
