1.Read carefully andunderstandoperatormanual
prior to operationof thisproduct. Follow all
warnings and instructions.
2.Know yourequipment. Considertheapplications,
limitations, andthe potentialhazards specific to
your unit.
3.Equipment must be placedon afirm, supporting
surface.
4.Load mustbe kept within ratingstated on
generatornameplate. Overloadingwill damage
the unit or shorten its life.
5.Engine mustnot be runat excessive speeds.
Operatingan engine at excessive speeds increases
the hazard ofpersonal injury.
Do nottamperwith parts which mayincrease
ordecreasethegoverned speed.
6.Topreventaccidental starting, always remove the
sparkplugor cable fromthe spark plug before
maintainingthe generatoror engine.
7.Units with broken ormissingparts, orwithout
protective housingorcovers,should never be
operated. Contactyourservice center for
replacement parts.
8.Units should not be operatedor storedin wet or
dampconditions oron highly conductive
locationssuchasmetal deckingand steel work.
9.Keep thegeneratorclean andfree of oil, mudand
other foreign matter.
10.Extensioncords,power cords, andall electrical
equipmentmustbein good condition.Never
operate electrical equipment with damaged or
defectivecords.
11.Store thegenerator in awell ventilatedarea with
the fuel tankempty.Fuel should not be storednear
the generator.
12.Yourgenerator should never beoperated under
these conditions:
a.Uncontrolledchange in engine speed.
b.Electrical output loss.
c.Overheatingin connectedequipment.
d.Sparking.
e.Damagedreceptacles.
f.Enginemisfire.
g.Excessivevibration.
h.Flameor smoke.
i.Enclosed compartment.
j.Rain,snow orinclement weather.Do notlet
the unit get wet whenoperating.
13.Check the fuel system periodically for leaksor
signs of deterioration suchas chafedor spongy
hose, looseormissingclamps, ordamaged tank or
cap. All defects should be corrected before
operation.
14.The generatorshouldbe operated, serviced,and
refueled onlyunder the following conditions:
a. Start and runthe generatoroutdoors. Do
notrun thegeneratorin an enclosed area,
even if doors orwindows areopen;avoid
areas wherevapors may be trapped, such as
pits,garages,cellars,excavations andboat
bilges. DANGER-CARBON MONOXIDE
HAZARD: The engineexhaust contains
carbon monoxide, apoisonous,odorless,
invisiblegas which, if breathed,maycause
death orserious personal injury.If youstart
to feel sick, dizzy orweak while using the
generator,shut it offand get tofreshair
right away;you mayhave carbonmonoxide
poisoning.
b.Goodventilation forcooling.Airflow and
temperatures areimportantforaircooled
units. Temperaturesshouldnot exceed 104ºF
ambient (40º C).
c.Refuel the generator inawelllighted area.
Avoidfuel spillsandnever refuel while the
generator is running.Allow engine to cool for
twominutes prior to refueling.
DANGER indicates apotentially

d.Donot refuel nearopenflames, pilot lights, or
sparking electrical equipmentsuch as power
tools,welders,and grinders.
e.The mufflerand aircleaner mustbeinstalled
andin goodconditionat all timesasthey
functionas flame arresters if backfiring occurs.
f.Donot smokenear thegenerator.
15.Ensure that generatorisproperly grounded. (See
“Grounding thegenerator” section inthis
manual.)
16.Donot wear loose clothing,jewelry,or anything
that may becaughtinthe starter orother rotating
parts.
17.Unitmustreach operating speedbefore electrical
loads are connected. Disconnect loads before
turningoffengine.
18.Toprevent surgingthat may possibly damage
equipment, donot allow engine to run out offuel
when electrical loads are applied.
19.When poweringsolid state equipment, aPower
LineConditionershouldbe used toavoidpossible
damage toequipment.
20.Donot stick anything through ventilatingslots,
even whenthe generator isnotoperating. This can
damage thegenerator orcause personal injury.
21.Beforetransportingthe generatorin avehicle,
drain all fuel toprevent leakagethat may occur.
22.Use proper liftingtechniques when transporting
thegenerator from site to site. Improper lifting
techniquesmayresult in personal injury.
23.Toavoidburns, do not touch engine muffleror
other engine orgenerator surfaces which became
hot during operation.
YOUR PRODUCTMAYNOTBEEQUIPPEDWITH
ASPARK ARRESTINGMUFFLER. If theproduct will be
used aroundflammable materials,suchas agricultural crops,
forests, brush,grass, orother similar items, then an approved
spark arrestershouldbe installedand islegally requiredin the
State of California. The California statutesrequiringaspark
arrester are Sections13005(b),4442 and4443.Spark
Arresters are alsorequired onsome U.S. Forest Service land
andmay also be legallyrequired underother statutes and
ordinances. An approved sparkarrester is available fromour
product dealers,or may be ordered from Pramac America,

In orderto prevent overloading andpossible damage to
your generatoritis necessary to know thetotal wattage of the
connected load.Todeterminewhich toolsand/or appliances
your generatorwill runfollowthesesteps:
1.Determine if you wantto runoneitemor multiple items
simultaneously.
2.Check wattage requirementsforthe items youwillbe
runningby referringto theload’snameplate orby
calculating it (multiply ampsxvolts =watts).
3.Total the wattsfor eachitem.If thenameplate only gives
volts andamps, multiplyvolts xamps=watts.
1KW=1,000watts.
4.Motorizedappliancesortools require more than their
rated wattage for start up.
NOTE: Allow 21/2 to 4times the listed wattagefor
starting equipmentpowered byelectric motors.
5.The generator’sratedwatts shouldmatch orexceedthe
total number ofwattsrequiredfortheequipment you
want to run.
6.Alwaysconnect theheaviest load to thegenerator first,
then add other items one at atime.

Toavoid backfeedingintoutilitysystems, isolationofthe
residence electrical system isrequired.
Before temporaryconnection ofthe generatorto the
residence electrical system, turnoffthe main
service/disconnect.
Ifyourgenerator is to be usedas astand-bypowersource
in case ofutilitypower failure, it shouldbe installed bya
registered electricianand incompliance withallapplicable
local electrical codes.
Proper use requires that adouble throw transfer switchbe
installedby alicensedqualified electriciansothat the
building's electrical circuitsmay be safelyswitched between
utility powerand thegenerator's output, thereby preventing
backfeed intothe power utility'selectrical system.
Always follow local codesandregulations that apply to
the installation of any item that concerns thisproduct.

CAUTION: Operating voltage and frequency
requirement ofall electronicequipment should be
checkedpriorto plugging them intothisgenerator.
Damagemayresult if theequipmentisnot designed
tooperatewithin a+/- 10%voltagevariation, and +/-
3hzfrequencyvariation fromthegeneratorname
plate ratings.Toavoiddamage, always have an
additional loadplugged intothe generatorif solid
stateequipment (suchasatelevision set)isused.A
powerline conditioneris recommended for some solid
stateapplications.

Toavoid possible personal injuryorequipment
damage, aregisteredelectricianor anauthorized
service representativeshould performinstallationand
all service. Undernocircumstances should an
unqualifiedperson attempt towireintoautility
circuit.
Toavoid backfeeding into utilitysystems, isolation of
the residence electricalsystem isrequired.Before
temporary connectionofageneratorto theresidence
electrical systemturn offthe main switch. Before
making permanentconnectionsadouble throw
transferswitch must be installed. Toavoid
electrocution orproperty damage, only atrained
electrician should connect generatortoresidence
electrical system.California law requires isolation of
the residence electricalsystem beforeconnecting a
generator toresidence electricalsystems. Temporary
connection notrecommended duetobackfeeding.

GROUNDFAULTCIRCUITINTERRUPTER(GFCI)
PROTECTION
Some jobsitesandlocal codes may require GFCI
protectionforpersonnel before operationof yourgenerator.If
yourgenerator is not already equipped with aGFCI
receptacle, GFCIIn-line cord sets may bepurchasedfrom
yourlocal electrical supplystore or home builder appliance
store.
These cordsets are availableinvarious plug and
amperageconfigurations. (Makesureyourgeneratoris
properly Grounded.)
GROUNDINGTHE GENERATOR
The National Electric Code requiresthat thisproduct be
properly connectedto an appropriate earthgroundtohelp
prevent electric shock.Agroundterminal connected tothe
frame ofthe generatorhas beenprovided for thispurpose.
Connecting alength ofheavygauge (12 AWG min.) copper
wirebetween the generatorGround Terminal andacopper rod
driveninto the ground should provide asuitable ground
connection. However,consult withalocal electrician to insure
that local codesarebeing adhered to.
LUBRICATION
DONOT attemptto startthisengine withoutfillingthe
crankcase with theproper amount and typeof oil. Your
generator hasbeen shipped fromthe factory without oil inthe
crankcase.Operating theunitwithoutoil can damage the
engine.
Fill the engine with oilaccordingto the operatormanual.
For unitswith adipstick,fill oil tothe properlevel. Units
without adipstickshould befilled to thetop ofthe openingof
the oilfill.
LOWOILSENSOR
The unit isequipped with alow oil sensor.Ifthe oil level
becomeslowerthan required,the sensor will activate a
warningdevice or stop theengine.
If generatorshuts offandthe oil level is within
specifications, checkto see if generator is sitting at an angle
that forces oil toshift. Place on anevensurface to correct this.
If engine failsto start, the oillevel may not be sufficient to
deactivate low oillevel switch. Makesure the sumpis
completelyfull ofoil.

FUEL
Fill the tankwithclean, freshunleaded automotive
gasoline. Regular gradegasoline maybe used provided ahigh
octane ratingis obtained(at least85pump octane). We
recommend always usingafuel stabilizer.Afuel stabilizer
will minimize theformulation offuel gum depositsduring
storage. The fuel stabilizer can be added tothe gasoline inthe
fuel tank,orinto the gasolinein astorage container.
POSITIONING
•Place the generatorset on aflatandsolid surface to
prevent it fromsinking.
•Keepfuel,oil or other explosives atasafe distance from
the generator set.
•Select asitethat iswell ventilated andprotected from the
weather.
•Place the generatorset safelyawayfrompeople and
animals.
CAUTION: TILTING CAN CAUSE FUEL
SPILLAGE
At highaltitude, the standardcarburetorair-fuel mixture
willbetoo rich. Performance will decreaseandfuel
consumption will increase. Avery rich mixture willalso foul
the sparkplugand causehardstarting.Operationat an
altitude that differsfrom that at which this enginewas
certified,for extendedperiods of time, may increaseemis-
sions.
High altitude performance can be improved byspecific
modifications to the carburetor.If you alwaysoperate your
engine at altitudes above914meters (3,000feet), have your
authorized service center performacarburetor modification.
Evenwithacarburetormodification,engine horsepower
willdecrease about3.5%foreach 300meter (1,000foot)
increase in altitude.Theeffect of altitudeon horsepowerwill
be greater if nocarburetormodificationis made. Adecrease
in engine horsepower will decreasethe power output of the
generator.
NOTICE: Warranty is Void if thenecessaryadjustments for
highaltitude use are not made.

HIGH ALTITUDEOPERATION
When the carburetorhasbeen modified for high
altitude operation, the air-fuel mixturewill be toolean
for lowaltitudeuse. Ifthe generator is used at low
altitudes afteracarburetormodification, the
carburetormaycausetheengine tooverheatand result
in seriousenginedamage. Foruseatlow altitudes,
have yourauthorizedservice centerreturn the
carburetorto originalfactory specifications.

the nameplate ratings.

The total wattage of the generator may be drawnfromthe
receptacle. Total power drawnmustbe kept withinnameplate
ratings.
C.Circuit Protectors
The receptacles are protectedbyanAC circuitprotector.Ifthe
generatoris overloaded oranexternalshort circuitoccurs, the circuit
protectorwilltrip.If this occurs, disconnectall electricalloadsand
try to determine thecause of the problem before attemptingtouse the
generatoragain.If overloadingcauses thecircuit protector to trip,
reduce theload. NOTE: Continuous tripping of the circuit
protectormaycause damage to generatororequipment. The
circuit protectormay beresetbypushingthe buttonofthe protector.

NOTRECOMMENDED FORUSEWITH GELPACK,
SEALED OR SMALL(MOTORCYCLE) BATTERIES.
This generatorcontains anadditional circuit usedforbattery
chargingpurposes.A DC accessoryreceptacleis provided onthe
control panel. Abattery chargingcable equipped with amatching
plugfor this receptacle hasbeensupplied with the unit. Line up
metal prongs onplugwitharrows onreceptacle tosecure.
The battery charger onthis generatoris referred to asan
unregulatedtaper charger -the most widelyusedinthemarket today.
The amount of current flowingwill dependonthe chargingvoltage
andbattery's state ofcharge. As the battery becomesmore fully
charged,theoutput current to the battery decreases andnearly
becomesconstant. Taperchargers are intended tobe usedwiththe
provisionthat they will be disconnectedfrom the battery after a
maximumtime oncharge. Normally aperiodof 30to120minutes is
sufficienttorecharge aweakbattery.The charge level ofthebattery
shouldbe checkedperiodically.
CAUTION:This batterychargingsystemis
intended to recharge weakbatteries, not to "boost
start" vehicles. Donot overchargebatteryor leave
battery unattended.
Note: Whenthebatterycharger circuit is inuse, the AC
capacityis reduced by96watts. Make sure the combined load is
withinthe rated limits.
Before chargingastorage battery,checkthe electrolyte fluid
level inall the cells. Adddistilledwater toeachcell, ifnecessary,to
bringthe level backuptothemanufacturer'srequired level.
WARNING: Storage batteries give off
EXPLOSIVE hydrogengas while charging.Donot
allowsmoking,openflames, sparks, or spark
producingequipment in the areawhile charging.
Usecables approved for battery charging.Connect aredclip to
the positive terminalof the battery.Connect a black cliptothe
negativeterminal ofthe battery.Connect theother endofthecable
to the DC accessory receptacle onthe generatorpanel. After the
battery is fullycharged,removethe batterychargingcable fromthe
generatorandthendisconnectfrom the batteryposts.
WARNING: Battery electrolyte fluid is comprised
ofsulfuric acid that canbe very dangerous and
causesevereburns. Donotallow this fluid to
contact eyes, skin, clothing,etc.If contactor
spillage does occur,flush the areawithwater
immediately.

PRE-STARTPREPARATION
Before startingthe generator,checkfor loose ormissing

STARTINGTHEENGINE

Replace onlywithbrushesspecifiedinparts list.Other
brushes mayappearto be identicalbut mayhave
completelydifferent mechanical andelectrical
characteristics.
INSPECTINGTHE BRUSHES:
1.Remove 2screws (V) andendcover(W).
2.Remove screw (X) holdingthebrushmodule (Y).
3.Disconnect the blue(+) andyellow (-) brush wires from
the tabs.
4.Replace if worn to1/4 inch(7mm).
5.Donot over tighten screw.
HEATSHIELD:
Inspect to ensure that all heatshieldsandheatdeflectors
are intact and in place.Donot remove any partsormodify

4.After the unit has cooled, drain gasoline from fuel tank,
fuel lineand carburetor.
5.Pouraboutone teaspoonofengineoil throughthe spark
plughole,pull the recoil starterseveral timesandreplace
the plug. Thenpull the starter until youfeel the pistonis
onitscompressionstroke andleave it in that position.
This closesboth the intake andexhaustvalves toprevent
the inside ofthe cylinder from rusting.
6.Cover theunit andstore in aclean,dryplace that is well
ventilated awayfromopen flame orsparks.
NOTE: Werecommend always usingafuel stabilizer.
Afuel stabilizerwill minimize the formulationoffuel gum
deposits during storage. The fuel stabilizercan be added
tothe gasoline inthefuel tank, or into thegasolinein a
storage container.

génératrice n'est pas équipée d'une prise GFCI, des ensembles
de cordonsd'alimentationGFCIpeuventêtre achetés dans
votre magasind'accessoires électriques ou magasinde
bricolage.
Ces ensembles de cordonssont disponibles avec
différentes configurations de prises et d'ampérage (assurez-
vous que votregénératrice est correctementmise àla
terre).
MISEENPLACE DEL'APPAREIL
Selonlesrecommandations stipulées dans le Code nation-
al de l'électricité,cet appareildoit faire l'objet d'unraccorde-
ment adéquat àune prise de terre afin deprévenir tout risque
d'électrocution. Uneborne de mise àla terre connectéau bâti
du générateurestprévueàcet effet. Le branchement d'unfil
de cuivre de fort calibre (AWG 12 minimum) etdebonne

LUBRIFICATION

LEDETECTEURDE BAS NIVEAU D'HUILE

En altitude, le mélangeair-carburant standarddu
carburateurseratrop riche. Le rendement diminuera et la
consommation d’essenceaugmentera. Un mélange très riche
pourraégalement encrasser la bougie d’allumageet rendre le
démarrage plus difficile.Une utilisationprolongéeàdes
altitudes différentes de celles pour lesquelles ce moteuraété
certifié peut entraînerune augmentationdes émissions
polluantes.
Il est possible d’améliorer le rendement enaltitude en
modifiant de façon précise lecarburateur.Si le moteurest
toujours en fonctionnementàune altitude deplus de 914
mètres (3000pi), confier lamodificationdu carburateur àun
centre de réparation agréé.
Même suite àunemodificationducarburateur,la
puissance dumoteurseraplus réduite. Environ 3,5 %de
moinspourchaquetranchede 300mètres(1000pi) d’altitude
supplémentaire. L’effet de l’altitudesurla puissance du
générateur sera encore plus importantsansmodification au
carburateur.Uneréductionde lapuissance du moteur entraîne
uneréductionde lapuissance àla sortie.

chargement etde l'état de charge de la batterie. Commela pile
devientplus entièrementchargée,le courant de productionaux
diminutions de pile et devientpresque constant. Les chargeurs non
réguléssont destinésà servir àla conditiond'être débranchés de la
batterie après l'expirationdudélai de chargement àbloc. Il suffit
normalementde30à120minutes pourrechargerune batterie àplat.

PRÉPARATIFS AU DÉMARRAGE
Avant demettre l'appareil en marche, vérifier qu’il ne
manque aucune pièce, que toutesles pièces sont bien serrées
et que l'appareil n’apas étéabîmée pendant le transport.

Lorsquele moteurseréchauffe, réglez ànouveau le
doseur.
BRANCHEMENTDESAPPAREILS
