Getting Started
with Poynt 5 Dock
The Poynt 5 dock allows merchants to use their
Poynt 5 truly anywhere - with additional
superpowers.
This dock remains small enough fit easily in your
hand and provides the ability to print while also
charging your device.
In the following slides, we’ll cover the details of
this functionality. But to start, unbox the Poynt 5
dock and ensure the necessary contents are
included.

Your Poynt 5 Dock
has arrived!
Step 1: Check your box
Do a quick component check to ensure all items
are in the box. It should include:

❏Charging Pad
❏Power Cord
❏Receipt Paper Rolls

Set up your dock
Step 2: Place the charging pad for your dock
somewhere easy to plug into a power outlet.
Allow the dock to rest on the charging pad to
attain a full charge.
The lights on the left-side of the printer will
indicate how much charge has been stored by
default when on the charging pad.
While off the charging pad these lights will not
appear. Simply press the small button under the
lights to ascertain the status of the charge.

Insert your Poynt 5
Step 3: Once the dock has charged, you can
begin to use it to charge your Poynt 5.
Align the back of the Poynt 5 flush with the long
edge of the dock. Slide the Poynt 5 in under the
lipped sides, allowing the USB-C Charger to
insert into the bottom of your Poynt 5.

Printing with the
Poynt 5 Dock
The Poynt 5 dock comes equipped with a
built-in printer. When the Poynt 5 is connected
to the dock via the USB-C plug, the printer will
be available for use by default.
To begin, simply insert a receipt paper roll (there
will be a few included).
Step 1: Open the printer cavity door by pulling
on the right and left sides of the printer door
using your thumb and index finger.
Step 2: Unwrap a paper roll and place in the
printer. Feed a bit of the paper over the edge of
the printer door to ensure that the paper doesn’t
jam.
Step 3: Close the printer door until it clicks shut.

Scanning with the
Poynt 5 Dock
The Poynt 5 dock comes equipped with a small
mirror so that the camera may be accessed for
scanning product barcodes or QR-code based
payments even when the Poynt 5 is on the
dock.
To scan a barcode or QR code, simply hold it up
to the small mirror. The mirror will reflect into
the camera, ensuring that it is picked up by the
Poynt 5 while on its dock.

Charging your
Poynt 5 Dock
While the Poynt 5 dock comes equipped with a
built-in battery pack, periodically you will need
to charge your dock.
To do so, ensure the charging pad (mini dock) is
plugged into a power outlet.
Align the bottom of your Poynt 5 dock with the
Poynt logo on the charging pad to ensure the
charging pins are appropriately aligned.
The magnet is quite strong so it will connect
almost instantly.
