Product information
The light has been manufactured with a super-high luminosity LED to assist in detecting fractures, root
canal orifices, caries, and calculus during therapeutic or surgical procedures, often without the need for
X-rays. Immediate feedback saves time and improves productivity, patient comfort, and care.
• Automatic compensation circuit for constant power output.
• Low battery LED indicator.
• Auto shut-o function.
Indications for use
Lumindex 3 is an auxiliary transilluminator for dental/medical diagnosis and oral hygiene instruction by
dental/medical professionals. For best diagnosis results, reduce ambient light and/or turn o dental unit
overhead lamp.

Warranty
Practicon, Inc. warrants the product to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of one (1) year
from the date of purchase, deemed as the date of the invoice. At its own discretion, units returned due to
manufacturing defects within the warranty period will be repaired or replaced. The following are expressly
excluded from the warranty:
• Damage and/or failure of the equipment caused by dropping and/or jolting during handling after
purchase and/or during normal use.
• Damage and/or failure of the equipment caused by natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods,
lightning, pollution, incorrect electrical voltage, and voltage spikes.
Any attempts to open the handpiece will invalidate the warranty.

Step 1: Unscrew battery compartment Jcounterclockwise.
Step 2: Insert 2 AAA batteries Efollowing diagram on battery housing.
Step 3: Carefully insert the fiberoptic light guide Bor the dental mirror Cstraight into the hand
piece using caution not to break the guide or mirror. DO NOT FORCE.
Step 4: Press the ON/OFF button Hto operate.
Auto shut-o function
Lumindex 3 will turn o automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery power.

HON/OFF Button
Pressing the button turns the light ON and selects the preferred intensity mode in a HI-LO-OFF pattern:
• Press the button once for high intensity.
• Press the button again for low intensity.
• Press the button again to turn the light o.
GLED low battery indicator
When the LED indicator flashes every 3 seconds, replace batteries with new AAA alkaline batteries.

Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization
The use of disposable barrier sleeves is an additional precautionary measure against contamination and
does not substitute for disinfection of the device. Disposable sleeves are designed for single-use only.
This product must be disinfected as normal preparation for each patient. Read this entire section
before cleaning the unit. Failing to follow these guidelines could cause damage to the device.
The body of the device can be wiped with a solution indicated for surface disinfection. Follow all solution
manufacturer’s guidelines for use. Do not use a solution containing bleach. DO NOT IMMERSE.
The removable fiberoptic light guide is autoclavable to 273°F (134°C). Follow all sterilization equipment
manufacturer’s guidelines.
The dental mirror attachment is for single-use only.

Ambient conditions
Do not store the device in humid surroundings. Do not place the device where it may come
in contact with liquids. Do not expose the device to any heat sources.
Do not use the device in the presence of free oxygen, anesthetics, or flammable substances.
Do not charge, operate, or store the device at high temperatures. Comply with the specified
operating and storage conditions.
Electric shock hazard
The Lumindex 3 is an electric device designed to meet worldwide electrical safety standards.
To avoid electric shock:
• Do not attempt to open or alter the unit in any way. Only the service centers authorized by
DENTMATE can open the unit housing and repair the device.
• Do not put any foreign objects into the housing of the unit.
Burn hazard
As it is the case with all high performance lights, the high light intensity results in a certain
heat development. Prolonged exposure near the pulp and soft tissues may result in irrevers-
ible damage. Therefore, this device must be operated by trained professionals only.
Eye hazard
Use proper eye protection when using this device. Do not aim the light at eyes. Light reflect-
ed from the tooth surface may also injure eyes.
Battery
Use AAA alkaline batteries only. Do not short circuit battery. Do not store at temperatures
above 40°C (104°F) (or 60°C for a short period). In case of storage period of 6 months or
longer, remove batteries from housing.
Battery disposal
For environmental reasons, please dispose of batteries according to local environmental
guidelines or regulations. DO NOT dispose of batteries in fire.
Repairs and defects
Do not use the device if you suspect it is damaged or defective. If batteries are defective,
DO NOT transport the device by air freight under any circumstances.
