Getting started
!Don’t connect the Propellerhead Balance audio interface to your computer before you
have installed Reason Essentials!
1. Insert the enclosed Reason Essentials DVD into your computer.

2. On Windows, double-click Install Reason Essentials.exe and follow the on-screen in-
structions.
On Windows computers the Reason Essentials installer will automatically install the Propellerhead
Balance audio drivers as well.
DOn Mac, drag the Reason Essentials folder and drop it on the Applications folder.
On Mac no special audio driver installation is required.

3. When the installation is completed, connect the Propellerhead Balance interface to a
free USB2.0 port on your computer using the supplied USB cable.

Your computer will now recognize the Propellerhead Balance audio interface. On Windows comput-
ers you will be asked to confirm the audio driver installation - do so.
The MIC LEDs on the panel will light up to indicate a working USB connection:

4. Launch Reason Essentials and follow the on-screen instructions to register and autho-
rize your products.

5. Connect a pair of speakers and/or headphones to the Propellerhead Balance interface.

If you don’t have active monitor speakers, connect the Propellerhead Balance outputs to the left and
right inputs of your amplifier instead.
Now you are ready to start recording your first song using the Propellerhead Balance audio interface and
Reason Essentials. For details on how to connect your instruments properly, refer to the Propellerhead
Balance Operation Manual PDF on the enclosed DVD. For information on how to record using Reason
Essentials, refer to the Reason Essentials Operation Manual on the DVD.
If you are planning to use the Propellerhead Balance audio interface together with another recording
software, please consult the Propellerhead Balance Operation Manual PDF on the DVD.

Prise en main
!Ne connectez pas l'interface audio Propellerhead Balance à votre ordinateur avant
d'avoir installé Reason Essentials !
1. Insérez le DVD joint Reason Essentials dans votre ordinateur.

2. Dans Windows, double-cliquez sur Install Reason Essentials.exe, puis suivez les
instructions qui s'affichent à l'écran.
Le programme d'installation de Reason Essentials installera automatiquement le pilote audio
Propellerhead Balance.
DSur Mac, faites glisser le dossier Reason Essentials et déposez-le dans le dossier
Applications.

3. Lorsque l'installation est terminée, connectez l'interface Propellerhead Balance à un
port USB2.0 libre sur votre ordinateur, à l'aide du câble USB fourni.

L'ordinateur reconnaît automatiquement l'interface Propellerhead Balance et les deux leds MIC sont
allumées :

4. Lancez Reason Essentials et suivez les instructions à l'écran pour vous enregistrer et
autoriser vos produits.

5. Connectez une paire de haut-parleurs et/ou un casque à l'interface Propellerhead
Balance.

Si vous ne possédez pas de haut-parleurs de contrôle actifs, connectez les sorties Propellerhead
Balance aux entrées gauche et droite de votre amplificateur.
Vous êtes à présent prêt à débuter l'enregistrement de votre premier morceau à l'aide de l'interface audio
Propellerhead Balance et de Reason Essentials. Pour obtenir plus d'informations sur la connexion de vos

Erste Schritte
!Verbinden Sie das Propellerhead Balance Audio-Interface erst nach der Installation von
Reason Essentials mit Ihrem Computer!
1. Legen Sie die beigefügte Reason Essentials-DVD in das DVD-Laufwerk Ihres Compu-
ters.
Einlegen der Reason Essentials-DVD
2. Auf einem Windows-PC doppelklicken Sie nun die Datei Install Reason Essentials.exe
und folgen Sie den Hinweisen auf dem Bildschirm.
Das Reason Essentials-Installationsprogramm installiert automatisch auch den Propellerhead Ba-
lance-Audiotreiber.
DAuf einem Mac ziehen Sie nun den Reason Essentials-Ordner auf den Programme-
Ordner Ihres Macs.

3. Nach abgeschlossener Installation können Sie das Propellerhead Balance-Interface
mithilfe des mitgelieferten USB-Kabels an einen freien USB 2.0-Port Ihres Computers
anschließen.
Herstellen der USB-Verbindung
Der Computer erkennt das Propellerhead Balance-Interface automatisch und beide MIC-LEDs leuch-
ten auf:
Die leuchtenden MIC-LEDs zeigen an, dass die Verbindung mit dem Computer erfolgt ist.
4. Starten Sie Reason Essentials und folgen Sie zum Registrieren und Autorisieren Ihres
Exemplars den Hinweisen auf dem Bildschirm.

5. Verbinden Sie ein Aktivlautsprecher-Paar und/oder Kopfhörer mit dem Propellerhead
Balance-Interface.
Anschließen von aktiven Monitor-Lautsprechern.
Anschließen von Kopfhörern an den Kopfhörerausgang.
Wenn Sie keine aktiven (mit eingebautem Verstärker ausgestatteten) Monitor-Lautsprecher besitzen,
verbinden Sie die Propellerhead Balance-Ausgänge stattdessen mit dem linken und rechten Eingang
Ihres Verstärkers.
Nun können Sie mit dem Propellerhead Balance Audio-Interface und Reason Essentials Ihren ersten
Song aufnehmen. Im Propellerhead Balance-Handbuch (PDF-Datei auf der beigefügten DVD) finden Sie
Hinweise zum richtigen Anschließen Ihres Instruments. Wie man mit Reason Essentials aufnimmt, wird im
Reason Essentials-Handbuch auf der DVD beschrieben.
