Thank you for purchasing PSB Speakers Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker, a highly developed bookshelf
speaker recommended for nearfield listening that brings music and video collections to life. Producing
natural musical dynamics and precisely imaged sound, the Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker will bring you
closer to the music you love.
Alpha stands for the best value in high performance loudspeakers. The Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker takes
the Alpha concept to an entirely new level by including a built-in amplifier to create a complete desktop
solution with enough acoustic output to fill small to medium sized rooms. Based on decades of acoustic
research and rigorous testing, the Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker benefits from proven knowledge and
techniques, and delivers “true-to-nature” sound quality for today's music enthusiasts and professionals.
By supplying this owner's guide, we hope you will read through this information to help assure that you are
getting the most out of your PSB product, and your music.
UNPACKING…
The packing materials are designed to protect the speakers from damage during transport, however if
visible or concealed damage is to occur in handling, it should be reported at once to your authorized PSB
dealer, or to the shipping company that delivered your loudspeakers. We highly recommend retaining all
packaging, as it may be needed to transport the speakers in the future.

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle, is intended
to alert you to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product's
enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to
persons.
The exclamation point with an equilateral triangle is intended to alert you to the
presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the
literature accompanying the product.

4
CONNECTING…
The built-in amplifier in PSB Powered Speakers is located in the left speaker. All speaker, audio source
and power supply connections must be connected to the speaker amplifier to ensure proper
performance.
Before making a connection, ensure that your audio source and speakers are powered off as severe
damage to equipment and/or your ears could result.
The Speakers
I. Connect the right speaker to the indicated and corresponding output jack on the speaker amplifier
using the included PowerLink speaker cable.
II. As these speakers are self-powered, do not attempt to connect the supplied cable to the speaker
outputs of a stereo receiver.
III. For improved low frequency response, the Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker is equipped with a sub
out connection for adding a powered subwoofer, if needed.
a) To connect a powered subwoofer, use a standard RCA cable and connect it
from the “SUB OUT” to the low-level input on the subwoofer.
IV. The Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker includes a 5V, 500mA USB connection. The USB port is for
power and charging, not for data transfer or music playback/streaming.
ENGLISH

The Audio Source
I. Using the supplied 1/8” (3.5mm) connection cable, connect one end to the speaker AUX input,
and the opposite end to the selected audio source.
II. To connect a media device such as a CD Player, use standard stereo RCA cables and connect it
to the corresponding RCA inputs.
The Power Supply
I. To power the unit, connect the 24V power cable from the power supply brick to
the 24V input connector. Do not use excessive force on the connector.
II. Using only 230V or 120V power cables provided with the speakers, connect the
corresponding power cable to the other end of the power supply brick that is appropriate for your
country's power outlet.
III. Connect the power cable to a power outlet.

LISTENING…
I. To turn the speakers on, locate the rear toggle switch and switch it to the “ON” position.
II. To verify power, check that the LED indicator is illuminated green.
III. Turn on your audio source, adjust it to a desired listening level and enjoy all of your favourite
audio selections.
IV. To adjust the volume level of the speakers, locate the rear volume control and set it to a desired
listening level. Be careful of excessive volume levels as it could result in severe and/or
permanent damage.
POSITIONING…
I. As symmetrically as possible, place your Alpha PS1 Powered Speakers at a comfortable listening
location with no obstructions at the front or back.
II. We recommend at least three inches of clearance around the back of both speakers. Good air
circulation is required for heat dissipation, and to ensure proper performance of the rear-firing
ports. Similar positioning and clearance should be used for both speakers.
III. For nearfield listening and other listening scenarios, your preference may be to use the available
Alpha Tilt Base (PTB-1) to help tilt each speaker onto the listening axis. See Available
Accessories.
For more detailed information about speaker placement, please visit www.psbspeakers.com
PROTECTING YOUR INVESTEMENT
For long lasting enjoyment of your PSB speakers, you should respect their limits and avoid excessive
volume levels for music or movie playback. Excessive volume levels can damage all types of speakers.
If your speakers are pushed to excessive volume levels, they could be driven into “clipping”, which may
result in severe and/or permanent damage. If listening to your speakers at loud levels, listen carefully for
any signs of harsh, distorted midrange and diminishing precision – if detected, turn the volume down
immediately.
NEVER TEST PEAK LISTENING LEVELS OF YOUR SPEAKERS BY TURNING THE VOLUME UP ALL
THE WAY!

CARING AND CLEANING…
For safe, sanitary use, it is essential to maintain and clean your speakers periodically. However,
excessive cleaning may cause damage and jeopardize the longevity of the product. When not in use,
avoid storing in extreme hot or cold temperatures and humidity, and avoid exposure to liquids.
I. Travel Care
The carton for this product is also designed as a travelling case to be used for safely transporting your
speakers to wherever you want high performance sound. To transport, carefully place each speaker into
its protective cloth bag, set both of them gently into the carton and close each panel. A carrying handle
has also been provided for convenience and effortless transport.
II. Cabinet Care
PSB cabinets have varying materials and finishes, including wood veneers, vinyl, anodized aluminium
and high gloss, and should be treated with the same care you would with similar finishes such as on
furniture. Dust lightly with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive materials that will cause permanent damage to
the cabinet. If necessary, wipe carefully with a cloth slightly dampened with water-based cleaner to
remove heavy soil.
II. Drivers and Port Care
During light cleaning, avoid touching speaker diaphragms as it could cause permanent damage to the
tweeter and/or drivers. If deeper cleaning is required, we suggest using a lint brush to clean the driver
ports.
AVAILABLE ACCESSORIES…
Some users may prefer tilting the speakers. To achieve such positioning, an optional Alpha Tilt Base kit
(PTB-1) is available from your local PSB authorized dealer/distributor.

TROUBLESHOOTING…
Issue: Audible Distortion
I. If a speaker begins to sound distorted or fatigued, check to see whether playing at a lower
volume resolves this issue.
Issue: Low or No Volume Output
I. If there is low or no volume output, check that the audio source is powered “ON”, and the audio is
set to a medium volume level and not muted.
II. If audio source is indeed powered “ON”, check and ensure that the cable connection to the audio
source is properly secured, or try a different cable.
Issue: No Sound from Right Speaker
I. If there is volume output from only the left channel, check that the cable connection is properly
secured, and connected to the corresponding output jacks on both speakers.
If you require service, please visit your local authorized PSB service centre, or our PSB Speakers

Don’t be fooled by its cute looks and tiny proportions—the SubSeries 100
Compact Powered Subwoofer may be small, but it’s got plenty of might. Ideally
suited for bringing full range sound to smaller rooms and to complement smaller
speakers, this powered wonder is a plug ‘n play solution that completes any
home theatre, desktop audio, or game station audio system. Unlike typical
desktop products, the SubSeries 100 is thoroughly engineered by PSB Speakers,
one of the most highly reviewed brands of high-end speakers in the world and
winner of countless awards in its 40-year history. The SubSeries 100 is solid,
powerful and articulate.
Muscle Power
This little box packs a lot of muscle. A specially designed 5 ¼” woofer is
computer optimized to get the best bass extension and dynamic range without
distortion. An innovative filter pole shifting technique is used to squeeze the
maximum deep bass from the specially engineered drive unit. The enclosure
is extremely rugged and resonance-free assuring that only the desired bass
frequencies are radiated into the room for clean articulate bass response. The
efficient and cool running 50W (continuous) Class D amplifier is capable of
100W dynamic peak power and carefully matched to the driver. By matching the
amplifier to the driver characteristics a synergy is achieved that boosts the level
of performance far beyond what could be achieved otherwise.
Fully Loaded
The SubSeries 100 is a fully featured product, giving nothing away to its
acclaimed big brothers in the PSB subwoofer family. Along with adjustable
volume, there are controls for setting the crossover frequency and inverting
the phase to facilitate a perfect and seamless integration with the full range
or satellite speakers with which the SubSeries 100 is partnered. There are
even special markings that indicate the optimal settings when used with the
PSB Alpha PS1 Powered Speaker, a combination that creates an incredible
micro-sized full range system.
Features
• 100 Watts Dynamic Peak Power
• 135mm Long Throw Woofer

Flexing Our Muscles
The SubSeries 100 is at home in a variety of audio applications thanks to its full
features.Whether used with our small poweredAlpha PS1 speakers or partnered
with our PSB Imagine W3 On-Wall sound bar in a home theatre system, the
SubSeries 100 adds powerful and articulate bass, creating a solid foundation for
movies or musical enjoyment. Need more bass power, but still don’t have space
for a big subwoofer? Add a second SubSeries 100 to double the power. Using
two smaller subwoofers is often better than one large subwoofer, since this
configuration offers smoother, more even response in most rooms. Line level
inputs accept both stereo preamp outputs and the mono LFE channel output
from an AV Receiver.
The PSB SubSeries 100 Compact Power Subwoofer brings so much in so little
a subwoofer. It’s an all-new “smaller” dimension to high performance audio!
