– Disconnect the device from the power supply
before performing any work.
DANGER!
Risk of eye and skin damage due to UV-C ra-

ticularly, the eyes! Direct irradiation of eyes and
skin must be strictly avoided.
– Disconnect the device from the power supply
before carrying out any maintenance work
and before opening the device.
– Never operate UV-C lamps outside the device
or when it is open!
DANGER!
Risk of eye and skin damage due to UV-C ra-
diation!
Connection to the mains can be made before as
well as after installation. It is imperative that the
power supply is switched off during assembly so
that the device cannot be turned on by mistake
and UV-C radiation cannot escape.
– Switch off the power supply before assembly
and back on only after the assembly work has
been fully completed.

General information
Electrical safety
– The device must not be connected to the mains socket
if the mains plug or cables are damaged. The mains
power cable must be replaced with a special power ca-
ble available from the manufacturer or its Customer
Service.
Order number: see page 12.
– This device is only to be operated with an alternating
voltage of 230-240 V with 50 Hz.
– The device must only be connected to a socket with
correctly installed earthing contacts.
– The system should be protected using a residual-cur-
rent circuit breaker (residual-current device) with a
maximum rated residual current of 30 mA.
– Before connecting the device, please make sure that
the power supply corresponds to the device's power
supply data.
Notes on installing and operating the device
– The device is intended for installation in rooms or facil-
ities that are dry and not exposed to splashing or drip-
ping water. It must not be installed in rooms where the
maximum relative humidity is over 60%.
– Adaptation of the device by the Customer Service de-
partment is required for operating altitudes greater
than 2000 m above sea level in order to guarantee
trouble-free operation.
– Trouble-free operation in mobile facilities (ship, bus,
train) is not guaranteed. If necessary, the prerequisites
can be created via modification by the Customer Ser-
vice.
– The installation location must be easy to access for
maintenance work.
– The device must be completely assembled and in-
stalled so that no UV-C radiation can escape.
– Please adhere to the prescribed maintenance inter-
vals.
– This device may be used by children over the age of 8,
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental ca-

perience of the device; however, they must be super-
vised at all times. Do not allow children to play with the
device. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks must not
be carried out by children.
– When the installation conditions are no longer fulfilled
(e.g. due to changes to the operating environment), the
device must not be operated any more.
– A socket with earthing contact must be provided by the
customer near to the device.
– The installation location must be selected so that de-
germed air can equally flow through the room.
– Avoid positioning in the immediate vicinity of seating
areas or workplaces as well as beds (hospital wards)
due to bothersome air flow.
– The air circulation should not be interrupted by barriers
such as room partitions, large plants, etc.
– When installing on a floor with carpet, more dust parti-
cles will be extracted that overload the filter additional-
ly. We recommend the operation on a smooth floor or
with a smooth subframe placed underneath (e.g a pan-
el).
– With longer periods of absence or during operating in-
terferences, pull out the mains plug to disconnect the
device from the power supply. Even when the mains
switch is located in the OFF position, the device is not
fully separated from the mains supply. We recommend

General information
What to do if one of the fluorescent lamps
breaks?
– Before cleaning, air the room for around 15 minutes
and make sure that nobody enters the room during this
period.
– Protect your hands against shards of glass and mercu-
ry, for example by wearing rubber gloves.
– Do not use a broom, dustpan and brush or vacuum
cleaner for the initial cleaning process. A vacuum
cleaner will stir up the mercury, distributing it back into
the air.
“Sweep” the shards of glass together using a piece of
cardboard or similar.
– Gather up smaller shards and powder using a damp
paper towel or adhesive tape.
– Place all remaining parts of the lamp, shards and pow-
der into an airtight container.
– Only use a vacuum cleaner once this initial cleaning
process is complete. After vacuuming, clean the vacu-
um cleaner nozzle using a damp paper towel. Dispose
of the dust bag and dust filter in a dustbin that is not lo-
cated in a sealed room.
– Dispose of any materials that have been heavily soiled.
Clean any lightly soiled materials, e.g. using adhesive
tape. Then clean these materials in a washing ma-
chine.
– Wipe down any shoes that have come into direct con-
tact with glass or mercury powder using a damp paper
towel.
– Any paper towels and adhesive tape used during the
cleaning process should be placed in the container
with the broken lamp. Dispose of this waste at a lamp
waste collection point.
– Dispose of all cleaning materials and the rubber gloves
in a dustbin that is not located in a sealed room.
– Once the cleaning process is complete, air the room
again for a short period of time.
– Wash hands thoroughly.
Warning label
The warning label is located on the device near to the On
/ Off switch.
– The warning label must be replaced immediately if it
has been damaged or removed or becomes difficult to
read.
Note:
Fluorescent lamps contain mercury.
Note:
The quantity of mercury released when a fluo-
rescent lamp breaks is too low in general to pose
a threat to health.

many, 2013)
Note:
Comprehensive information related to broken
lamps can be found on the German Environmen-
tal Agency's website:

Cleaning
Cleaning the device
– The inside of the device may not be cleaned as com-
ponents may be damaged.
– If desired, the outside of the device can be wiped with
a damp cloth (where necessary with a mild cleaning
agent). Wipe dry afterwards!
– The device is not watertight. It must not be cleaned
with a low-pressure or high-pressure cleaner.
Cleaning the lamps
The lamps only have to be cleaned if dirt gets on them
during installation or they are mistakenly touched with
bare hands! Regular cleaning is not necessary.
The lamps are highly sensitive to finger sweat and alka-
line cleaning agents!
– Wear clean and soft gloves (cotton or non-powdered
latex) to avoid applying new dirt. Only use soft, clean
cotton cloths.
– Clean with clear water (with a little washing-up liquid
when necessary).
– Wipe dry afterwards.
Cleaning the filter
(see also page 21)
The cleaning intervals are highly dependent on the oper-
ating conditions.
– Check the filter on the inside and outside as well as the
protective grille behind the filters for visible soiling on a
regular basis.
Dry cleaning of the filter and protective grille: Vacuum
cleaner (depending on the degree of soiling).
Moist cleaning (filter only!): water and detergent, also a
dishwasher.
Maintenance
Maintenance must be carried out after 9000 hours or 1
year.
The next maintenance appointment is indicated on the
maintenance sticker as well as the service booklet.
Please make an appointment in good time with Customer
Service (see page 2). The maintenance is carried out by
replacing the reflector and lamps on-location.
Assessment of the condition after 10 years
When the device reaches an age of 10 years after the
date of manufacture, the condition of the device must be
assessed by a certified service technician from JK-Inter-
national GmbH, JK-Global Service Department before the
device may be used further.
If this device assessment is not carried out, personal inju-
ry or material damage may occur.
Any liability is excluded if the device remains in use 10
years after the date of manufacture without its condition
being assessed.
