INTRODUCTION
Quatreau Tap Systems are designed as
a modular system for ease of installation.
553B the boiler and control centre
sits to the right of the chiller unit with
interconnections joining the two modules.
PurityPRO sits to the right of the 553B
offering purified water supply for boiling,
chilled and sparkling water. Or It can
deliver directly into the chiller carbonator
module Q-CS20/50 and take the return
feeds directly to the SmartTap of choice.
The following document is a guide to
allow you to familiarise yourself with the
Quatreau SmartTap System.

QST-553-B
This is the control centre with boiler with
integral Stage 1 Pureh2o Activated
Carbon filter and CO2 gas module are
attached to the front for ease of service.
QST-CS20/50
This is the Chiller Carbonator unit that
takes its water source from and feeds
chilled and sparkling water back into the
553-B, that controls delivery to the tap.
The chiller must have ventilation cut into
the base of the cupboard and small
space around for air movement.
PURITYPRO FOR REMOVAL OF SCALE &
IMPURITIES FROM YOUR TAP WATER
Hard water and other water borne
impurities cause scale, long term
damage and unsightly scum on the
surface of beverages. These can be
effectively removed using the Pure H2O
Company’s unique Reverse Osmosis
water purification system the PurityPRO.
99.99% of inorganic and organic tap
water impurities are removed leaving your
drinking water purer than all bottled water
brands and a great taste.

SWITCHING ON THE SYSTEM
Four stage light indicator
At the top right on the front of the unit
there are four LED lights:
RED power on to boiler when
temperature drops to 94C
AMBER heating
GREEN temperature reached 97C-98C
BLUE leak detector
Note:
The system can deliver 15 mugs of boiling
water at 97-98C before any drop in
temperature. If 15 mugs are drawn in one
go the recovery time is 5-8 minutes. in
normal use (offices of 10-30 people) its
unlikely that a drop in temperature will be
detected. For larger offices, catering for
30+ people we recommend the QST-
653-B, our infinite model. This unit can
cope with an almost unlimited demand.

QUATREAU CS (CHILLER CARBONATOR)
The QC20 & QC50 chillers produce
chilled water down to 4C or below
through a direct chill system at the rate of
20 & 50 ltrs/hr
The QCS20 & QCS50 chiller carbonators
produce chilled and sparkling water down
to 4C or below at the rate of 20 & 50 ltrs/
hr.
It is possible to draw more (almost twice)
than the specified volume albeit at a
higher temperature.

TAP FUNCTIONS:
SPARKLING FILTERED WATER
ADJUSTING THE CARBONATION OF THE
SPARKLING WATER
The CO2 is controlled via the gas canister
regulator on the front of the unit (see
diagram)
Use a large flathead screwdriver or a
19mm spanner to increase the level of
carbonation in the water turn the regulator
by a half turn in a clockwise direction.
To decrease the level of carbonation
turn the regulator by a half turn in an anti
clockwise direction.
Between adjustments you must run off
several glasses of sparkling water to
see the effects of the adjustment. If the
sparkling function is spluttering there is too
much gas in the water, reduce the setting
by one full turn and try again.

TAP FUNCTIONS:
SPARKLING FILTERED WATER
CHANGING THE CO2 CANISTER
When the sparkling water tastes flat it is
necessary to change the gas canister.
The integral CO2 gas canister is sited on
the left hand side at the front of the unit
(see diagram opposite).
Please follow the instructions below to
ensure your CO2 canister is correctly
installed:
1 To remove a canister unscrew in an
anticlockwise direction.
2 Locate the thread on the regulator
where the gas canister will connect.
3 Carefully present the canister ensuring
the canister is supported.
4 Rotate the canister in a clockwise
direction being careful not to cross
thread the regulator.
5 Rotate until you hear a hissing sound.
This is the gas being released from
the canister. It is important to keep
screwing until you can no longer hear
this hissing.
6 When the canister cannot be turned
further it is safely connected. Do not
turn the canister any further as this will
damage the regulator.
7 Press the glass icon button and run off
an amount of sparkling water to
re-calibrate the system.
Note:
While removing a canister it is important to
support its weight to avoid the canister
dropping onto the floor.
When attaching a new gas cannister
hand tighten the gas cylinder firmly but
and do not over tighten. Check by
listening that gas is not escaping.
The regulator has an internal opaque
white coloured seal that should stay firmly
in place. Older models have a black
o-ring. If these are removed or fall out the
gas will escape.
The regulators have two cross head
screws attaching the regulator to the front
panel. These are tightened during
manufacture and shuold be checked
periodically at service intervals, if they
come loose gas will escape.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
8
Its not necessary to turn the system off when
leaving the house for short periods of a few days
but for longer absences you may feel more
comfortable isolating the power and water to the
system. On return simply open the water supply
and power the system up. Vent the boiler every
minute for 15 seconds over a period of 5 minutes
to slow down the rate the boiler heats up. This
provides time for the temperature to transmit
across the stainless steel walls of the boiler where
the thermistor sits.
We recommend installing a PurityPRO purifier
to remove all limescale. To upgrade call 01483
617000.
Two years subject to the conditions set out in the
pre-installation guide, a RODI system installed to
feed the Quatreau 553-B or CS unit and annual
servicing carried out by a Pure H2O Technician
(during the warranty period). Extend your warranty
to 5 years simply by taking out a 5 year service
agreement.
At time of annual service by a Pure H2O
technician.
This could be caused as a result of too little water
or by the gas regulator being set to high. Follow
instructions on the front panel of the 553-B to
reduce the setting.
If the level of fizz has been good and then
reduces the most likely cause is that the gas is
running out. Replace gas bottle. Sometimes the
pump can deactivate. To reset simply power
down then back on again. You should hear the
pump engage when you run off sparkling water.
Pre January 2019 unvented models:
The boiling flow can be controlled by the PRV
located on the side of the Quatreau 553-B or CS.
To adjust flow simply pull the knob out to unlock
(you will hear/feel it click).
To increase flow rate, first activate the boiling
water function so you can watch the flow of water,
then turn the knob clockwise until desired flow is
reached.
I am going on holiday, do I
need to do anything to the
system?
I live in a hard water area, how
does this affect the system?
What is the warranty period?
When do the filters need
changing?
The sparkling water function is
spluttering, what should I do?
My sparkling water appears to
be flat.
Can I adjust the flow of boiling
water

9
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My chilled and boiling
water flow seems to have
reduced
To reduce flow turn anti clockwise. Once flow is correct
simply lock the PRV by pushing it back into place. You
will hear/feel a distinct click. Note that if your system is
attached to a RODI purifier, you should only make this
adjustment when the RODI tank is full (indicated by the
lights on the Memory Panel reading tank full at which
stage the system is not in production).
Both the boiling and chilled water flow is directly
influenced by the feed water into the Quatreau 553-B or
CS. Boiling flow can also be adjusted using the PRV.
Ensure that the water supply has not been turned off.
If using a RODI or PurityPRO system there is a finite amount
of water available during the normal usage. The RODI
system replenishes its storage tank at the rate of 5ltrs/hr.
If you may have used the capacity of the tank (10litres
when full) simply wait for the unit to recover and flow
should restore itself to normal.
If flow rate has significantly dropped after the RODI tank is
full and mains water pressure is not effecting the system
(minimum requirement is +2Bar), it may be necessary to
change the filter on the front of the Quatreau 553-B or
CS. Check what type of filter your system is fitted with and
organise a module change directly with the Pure H2O
Company Ltd on 01483 617000.
