String of Pearls!
Color Screen Pearl Quest is an addictive pearl-
swapping puzzler! Create horizontal or vertical
rows of three or more identical pearls and watch
them vanish as new pearls fill the empty slots.
Try each of the three different game modes
(Classic, Dash and Triumph) and reach a new
high score! Are you ready for the Pearl Quest
challenge?
BUTTONS AND SCREEN FEATURES
TOUCH SCREEN – This game uses TOUCH
SCREEN technology which allows a player to use
the STYLUS to move pearls.
STYLUS – A STYLUS is attached to the back of
the game. Once the game begins, use the stylus
to select the pearl that you want to swap on the
touch screen. Touch the pearl that you would
like to select. The pearl will then begin to flash
quickly, notifying you that the pearl is in a ready
state. Then choose and touch the colored pearl
which you would like to swap.
ON / OFF / START / PAUSE – Press this button
to turn the game ON. After toggling and choos-
ing a game mode, press START to confirm your
choice. During game play, press the PAUSE but-
ton to stop the game. Press the PAUSE button
again to re-start the game. Press and hold the
OFF button for 3 seconds to turn the game off.
Note: Once the PAUSE button is pushed, the
matrix will turn black to hide potential moves.

EMODE/NEW GAME – When starting a new
game, press the MODE button to toggle through
the three different game modes [Mode 1 – Clas-
sic (Blue), Mode 2 – Dash (Red) and Mode 3
– Triumph (Pink)]. To start a new game, press
and hold the NEW GAME button for 2 seconds.
SOUND/HI-SCORE – Press this button to turn
the SOUND ON or OFF. Press and hold the HI-
SCORE button for 3 seconds to display current
game mode’s high score. The HI-SCORE is only
displayed before or after each game.
HINT – If at any time, you are having trouble
identifying any potential valid moves, press HINT
on the touch screen using the stylus. After re-
ceiving a HINT, your score will be penalized.
RESET – When a blunt point is inserted, this but-
ton RESETS the game to its original settings.
SCREEN ELEMENTS
COUNTER # - During game play, used to display
game TIME and SCORE.
• TIME – During game play the TIME counter is
used to display time.
• SCORE – Indicates the current game SCORE.
HI-SCORE – Indicates the HI-SCORE for the
current game MODE.
MODE – The displayed color indicates the cur-
rent game MODE [Mode 1 – Classic (Blue), Mode
2 – Dash (Red) and Mode 3 – Triumph (Pink)].
METER – Shows your progress toward the
different MODE goals. As you begin to clear
pearls, the METER will begin to fill. The METER
will fill based on the number of individual pearls
that you clear from the MATRIX. Please see the
GAME MODES/ADDITIONAL SCORING section
for more information.
BONUS – Lights up to indicate that a bonus is
being awarded.
MATRIX – Game grid or screen that contains the
colored pearls.
PEARLS – There are 49 pearls to choose from in
horizontal rows or vertical columns for matching
and swapping.
SLEEP MODE – The unit will turn off after one
and a half minutes if no buttons are pressed or a
game stays in PAUSE mode. Press the ON but-
ton to turn the game back on.

Additional points will be awarded as you match
more pearls and increase the number of pearls
you string together.
GAME MODES/ADDITIONAL SCORING
MODE 1: CLASSIC (Blue) – The game objective
is to achieve the highest score possible. You
are not limited by time and play only ends when
there are no more valid moves. In addition to
the above scoring table, additional points can be
achieve with the following:
• The first time 10 pearls are cleared, you will be
awarded 500 points.
• When you fill the METER and 10 additional
pearls are cleared, you will progressively be
awarded more points.
• Each additional time that you clear the METER,
you will receive additional bonus points.
MODE 2: DASH (Red) – The objective is to
achieve the highest score possible, while racing
against a count-down timer. Each game lasts 2
minutes. You can score additional points in Dash
mode if you achieve the following:
• The first time you clear the METER, you will be
awarded 1,000 points.
• When you fill the METER, you will progres-
sively be awarded more points.
• Each additional time that you clear the METER,
you will receive additional bonus points.
MODE 3: TRIUMPH (Pink) – The objective is to
swap matching pearls in the fastest time pos-
sible, thereby clearing pearls and filling the ME-
TER. The game is over when you fill the METER
or when there are no more valid moves.
HOW TO PLAY
Before you begin:
The objective of the game is to create horizontal
or vertical rows of three or more identical pearls.
Use the STYLUS to select the pearls that you
want to swap on the TOUCH SCREEN, once
matched the pearls will vanish. Gaps at the
top of the screen are then filled with a random
selection of new pearls that fill the empty spots
in the matrix. You can only swap pearls either
horizontally or vertically and you are only allowed
to make a swap if it will result in pearls matching.
If you are unable to see any matching pearls, you
have the option to press the HINT button on the
TOUCH SCREEN to see possible moves.
When there are no more valid moves, the game
is over. If you achieved the HI-SCORE for the
current game mode, your score will be displayed.
If you did not achieve the HI-SCORE for the cur-
rent game mode, your score will be displayed in
black.
Let’s Begin:
Turn the unit on by pressing the ON button. To
start a new game, press the MODE/NEW GAME
button. Before you begin, you will need to select
a game mode by toggling through the three dif-
ferent game modes (Classic, Dash or Triumph)
by using the MODE/NEW GAME button. Once
a MODE is chosen, press the START button to
confirm your choice or hold down the MODE/
NEW GAME button for a few seconds. You can
also choose a MODE using the touch screen.
Simply, select the pearl on the upper left side or
the lower left side of the screen to scroll to the
game modes and press the START button to
begin.
Once the game begins, use the stylus to select
the pearl that you want to swap on the touch
screen. Touch the pearl that you would like to
select. The pearl will then begin to flash quickly,
notifying you that the pearl is in a ready state.
Then choose the colored pearl which you would
like to swap. If swapping the two pearls is a valid
move, the matching pearls will switch places.

Radica Games Limited warrants this product for a period of 6 months from
the original purchase date under normal use against defective workmanship
and materials (batteries excluded). This warranty does not cover damage
resulting from accident, unreasonable use, negligence, improper service or
other causes not arising out of defects in material or workmanship. Radica
Games Limited will not be liable for any costs incurred due to loss of use of
this product or other incidental or consequential costs, expenses or damages
incurred by the purchaser. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limita-
tion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not
apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also
have other legal rights, which vary from state to state.
In the event of a defect covered under this warranty, first call the toll-free
number listed below. Many problems can be solved in this manner. If neces-
sary, you will be instructed to return the product, postage prepaid and insured,
to the address below. Enclose your name, address, dated sales receipt, and
a brief explanation of the defect. Replacement, and return shipment, will be

swap two pearls that are not a valid move, the
pearls will stop flashing and will no longer be in a
ready state for swapping.
To start another game, press and hold the
NEW GAME button or touch the corresponding
colored pearl at the bottom of the touch screen.
Then take the Pearl Quest challenge!
BATTERY INSTALLATION / REPLACEMENT
This game is powered by three (3) AAA batteries.
• Using a screwdriver (not included), loosen the
screw until the battery compartment door can
be removed.
• Insert three (3) AAA batteries as indicated
inside the battery compartment.
• Replace the battery compartment door and
tighten the screw with a screwdriver. Do not
over-tighten.
• Batteries included are for demonstration pur-
poses only.
• For longer life use only alkaline batteries.
• Replace the batteries when the product does
not function properly.
• Remove batteries and dispose of them safely.
ADULT SUPERVISION IS RECOMMENDED
WHEN CHANGING BATTERIES.
BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION
In exceptional circumstances batteries may leak
fluids that can cause a chemical burn injury or
ruin your product. To avoid battery leakage;
• Do not use rechargeable batteries.
• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be
recharged.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or
rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type
as recommended are to be used.
• Batteries are to be inserted with the correct
polarity.
• Exhausted batteries are to be removed from
the product.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-
circuited.
• Dispose of batteries safely.
• Do not dispose of this product in a fire. The
batteries inside may explode or leak.
CAUTION
• Sometimes, a build-up of static electricity
(from carpets, etc) may cause the game to
stop working. Just reset the game, and it
will work again.
• In an environment with radio frequency
interference, the product may malfunction
and require user to reset the product.
