Radio Shack DC-to-AC Power Inverter User manual

Plug Inverter into your vehicle’s
power port.
The power port
must be rated for
at least 20 amps
to continuously
power a 150 watt
load.
Adjust the inverter plug for
better positioning.
Thank you for purchasing your 150-Watt
DC-to-AC Power Inverter from RadioShack.
Please read this user’s guide before installing,
setting up, and using your new Power Inverter.
Check package contents Plug in an AC device
Device must draw 150W or less of continuous
AC power.
If necessary, you can use an AC extension
cord. The extension cord’s rating should be
equal to or greater than the device’s rating.
Plug in a DC device
You can use an AC and a DC device at the
same time, but the total current cannot
exceed 15 amps.

Indicator
Lights when
the inverter is
connected.
Replacing the Fuse
If the fuse has blown, replace it with a 20A
blade-type fuse (not supplied).
1. Take out the fuse with pliers.
2. Insert the new fuse.
YCaution: Do not use a fuse with a
different rating. Doing so can damage your
inverter.
Troubleshooting
If an appliance doesn’t power up, or the
power indicator doesn’t light, there are several
possible causes:
• Defective device plugged into the
inverter.
Try another device to see if the first one is
defective.
• Vehicle battery voltage is lower than 10V.
Run the vehicle’s engine to recharge the
battery.
•Temperature exceeds 158°F (70°C).
Unplug the appliance and wait until the
inverter cools. See “Heat Dispersion.” Your
device’s power requirement might also
exceed the inverter’s rating.
•Continuous power load exceeds 150
watts.
Disconnect the device. Use only devices
with a continuous power load of 150 watts
or less.
•Blown fuse.
See “Replacing the Fuse.”

Heat Dispersion
The inverter’s thermal protection prevents it
from operating when its temperature exceeds
158°F (70°C). If the inverter gets too hot while
working, it will turn off. Position the inverter
where air flows freely around it to allow the
heat to disperse. Operation resumes when the
temperature decreases to about 104°F (40°C).
Safety Information
WARNING! Shock Hazard
This 150W inverter generates the same
potentially dangerous AC voltage as a
household wall outlet. Failure to follow these
warnings may result in personal injury or
damage to the inverter.
Do not insert foreign objects
into the inverter’s AC outlets
or vents.
Do not expose the inverter to
water.
YWCaution:
• Do not connect devices that require power
greater than 150 watts to the inverter.
• Do not use the power inverter in a
positive-grounded vehicle. Check with
your mechanic to determine if your vehicle
is positive-grounded.
• The total current for multiple devices
connected to the AC and DC socket
cannot exceed 15 amps. If you do not
know the total amps for your devices,
connect just one device.
• During operation, keep the inverter away
from materials that may be affected by
high temperatures.
• Make sure the power port and plug are
clean. A dirty power port can prevent the
inverter from working properly.
• Always remove the inverter from the
power port when not in use.
• Let the inverter cool down completely
before storing.
