INTRODUCTION
Your RadioShack SportsCaster Alphanumeric Pager
is a sports news source and personal pager — all in
one! The pager provides you with frequent updates of
sports scores, team standings, sports news, and Las
Vegas betting odds for both professional and college
sports. It also lets you receive personal messages
from family and friends. The pager can store up to 32
messages (sports and personal messages com-
bined), and alerts you of personal messages with ei-
ther a gentle vibration, a vibration and a single beep,
or one of 16 melodies. It also has these features:
Clock — displays the current date, time, and day of
the week when you are not viewing a message, and
lets you change the time and date display formats.
Message Protect — lets you protect up to 16 mes-
sages from accidental deletion.

Daily Alarm — lets you set the pager to sound an
alarm and display a reminder symbol (such as a tele-
phone to remind you to call someone) at a set time
each day.
Automatic Message Scroll — lets you set the pager
to automatically scroll through all messages one page
or one line at a time.
Message Reminder — lets you set the pager to
sound a series of alerts to remind you to view unread
personal messages.
Timer — lets you set the pager to sound an alert after
a set amount of time (up to 99 minutes).
Low Battery Message and Alert — lets you know
when the battery is low.

GETTING STARTED
SUBSCRIBING TO SERVICE
You must subscribe to paging service through Mobile-
Comm before you can start receiving messages.
To activate your pager, call MobileComm or its asso-
ciated carrier at the telephone number listed in the ac-
tivation instructions provided with your pager’s
activation packet.
INSTALLING A BATTERY
Your pager requires one AA battery. For the best per-
formance and longest life, we recommend an alkaline
battery, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-557.
Caution: Always use a fresh battery of the required
size and type.

1. Slide the battery cover latch away from the cover
to unlock it, then slide off the cover in the direc-
tion of the arrow.
2. Place a battery in the compartment according to
the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside.
3. Replace the cover, then slide the latch toward the
cover to lock it.

When battery power becomes low, the pager sounds
an alert every few seconds, Change Battery ap-
pears, and flashes on the display. Press any button
to stop the alert, then replace the battery as soon as
possible.
Notes:
• If you press a button to stop the alert, and
Change Battery appear on the standby dis-
play until you replace the battery.
• The pager’s built-in memory stores messages
and settings for at least 5 minutes while you
change the battery or after the battery loses
power.
• Always dispose of old batteries promptly and
properly; do not burn or bury them.

STANDBY DISPLAY
Your pager is preset to
always
show you its “standby
display” when you are not reading a message or set-
ting a feature. The standby display includes the date,
day of the week, time, the last set message alert sym-
bol, and the symbol for any special feature currently
set or running (such as the alarm or timer).
To set the pager so the standby display disappears
and the screen goes blank (to conserve battery pow-
er) after about 5 seconds if you do not press a key,
see “Setting the Clock” on Page 14 (Step 9).
Note: The standby display appears immediately after
you set a feature or read the last message in memory,
or within about 40 seconds after the last key press. To
recall the standby display sooner, repeatedly (if nec-
essary) press .

PAGER SET-UP
SETTING THE CLOCK
Hold down for about 2 seconds to turn on the pag-
er, then follow these steps to set the current date,
time, time format, and standby display timeout setting.
Notes:
• If you do not set the clock, the pager incorrectly
reports the dates and times of your messages.
• If you do not press a button for about 2 minutes
during these steps (or while setting any other fea-
ture), the standby display reappears. Try again.
• To rapidly advance the setting during these steps
(or while setting any other feature), simply hold
down that button.

• To keep the existing setting in any of these steps
(or while setting any other feature), simply press
to skip to the next step.
• When you press in Steps 3–8, the pager
scrolls forward through that setting’s sequence
(the years 94–13, for example), then repeats
that sequence.
1. At the standby display, press then repeatedly
press until Set Clock appears.
2. Press . The clock display appears and the cur-
sor ( ) appears below the hour digits.
3. Repeatedly press to select the hour, then
press . The cursor moves below the minutes.
Note: If you previously selected the 12-hour time
format, be sure to select the correct AM or PM
hour so AM or PM appears.

4. Repeatedly press to select the minutes, then
press . The cursor moves below the time for-
mat (12H or 24H for 12- or 24-hour).
5. To select the other time format, press so that
format appears, then press . The cursor moves
below the year digits.
6. Repeatedly press to select the current year,
then press . The cursor moves below the day
of the month digits.
Note: If you previously selected the D/M/Y date
format (see “Setting the Date Format” on
Page 18), the cursor moves below the month dig-
its when you press during this step, and the
order of Steps 7 and 8 are reversed.
7. Repeatedly press to select the current day of
the month, then press . The cursor moves
below the month digits.

8. Repeatedly press to select the current month,
then press . The cursor moves below the
standby display timeout symbol.
9. To conserve battery power, you can set the pager
so the standby display disappears and the dis-
play goes blank after about 5 seconds if you do
not press a key. Press (if necessary) so
appears.
To set the standby display so it always appears
(except when you turn the pager off), press (if
necessary) so appears.
10. Press to store the selected clock settings. The
standby display reappears showing the current
date, time, and day of the week (such as Fri for
Friday, based on the date you selected).

Note: If you selected in Step 9, the display
goes blank after about 5 seconds if you do not
press a key. The next time you press a key, the
standby display immediately reappears.
SETTING THE DATE FORMAT
Your pager is preset to display the date in the month/
day/year (M/D/Y) format, but you can set it to use the
day/month/year (D/M/Y) format. To change the date
format, follow these steps.
1. At the standby display, press then repeatedly
press until Set Options appears.
2. Press , then repeatedly press until Cal-
endar Order and the currently selected date
format (M/D/Y or D/M/Y) appear.

3. Press so appears next to the date format,
then press so the other date format appears.
4. Press to store your selection. The standby
display reappears showing the date in the
selected format.
SELECTING THE PERSONAL
MESSAGE ALERT TYPE
Your pager is preset to sound a simple beep pattern
when you receive a personal message; however, you
can set it to use any of the following audible or silent
alerts.
Notes:
• You can also set the alert length — see “Setting
the Alert Length” on Page 40.

• The alert tone’s volume gradually increases dur-
ing an audible alert.
• Your pager does
not
alert you when it receives
sports messages.
