8. OPERATION OVERVIEW
A. Program transmission with the key
Parameters below are transmitted to the module
• Current time and day
• Water days/program
• Start times/program
• Run time/station + program assignment of each station
• Irrigation mode : ON or OFF
• The LCD will display the low battery icon if TBOS module
battery must be replaced.
B. Monitor program with the key

• The LCD will display the low battery icon if TBOS module
battery must be replaced.
Note that we don’t recover the current time from the TBOS
Module. A slight time difference may exist between the TBOS
Field Transmitter and the TBOS Module. We recommend
downloading a program again to synchronize the time of
the TBOS Module with the time of the Field Transmitter.

Note: in the future, if the low battery icon blinks for 30
seconds after pressing to turn on the LCD, replace the
9V battery in the field transmitter.

2. A - Set current time of day
- AM/PM Time Format
If you want time displayed in AM/PM, hold down the "ABC" key
for 2 seconds. An "AM" or "PM" will appear in the LCD to the
left of the time. Hold down the "ABC" key again for 2 seconds
to return to the 24:00 hour clock.
To set current time, press or .
Holding down a key for more than 2 seconds will cause the numbers
to increase or decrease more rapidly.

2. B - Set current day
Monday = 1
Place the square on the current day of the week.
Example : if “today” is Wednesday, place the square on number 3.
Note : when a program is transmitted to a control module, the
current day and time are also transmitted. This means that all
modules are synchronized with each other.
The programming features include :

Program data entered is automatically stored by pressing the

key and moving to the next screen.
The various functions are represented by icons. The icons indicate in
which function you are working.
IMPORTANT
1. The field transmitter has 3 independent programs : A,B,C. You can consider
each program as a separate controller with its own water days, start
times, and run times. The triple program makes it possible to select a
program for each plant type.
Example : program A for grass, program B for shrubs, and program C
for trees. Stations assigned to the same program operate sequentially.
2. Option : If you assign a station to each program with the same water
days, start times, and run times, you will obtain an almost simultaneous
start of all 3 stations.
Note : If you use this method, make sure that there is no program
overlap. The program run time must be shorter than the time interval
separating 2 start times.
MAINTENANCE
Replace the 9V battery once a year or when the blinking low battery icon
appears on the LCD.
The TBOS Radio Field Transmitter conforms to the essential applicable
requirements, in particular to directive 1999/5/CE. These devices conform
to the following standards: ETS 300 683 1997 (CEM) and EN 300 220-1
(for radio tests). The product described above is powered by a 9 volt battery
and is in conformity with the EN 60950 authorized standard which presumes
conformity to the low voltage standard (73/23/CE).

PROGRAMMINGE. PROGRAMMING
1. SET DAYS OF THE WEEK TO WATER
First select the program with the ABC key. Use the
Example : you want to water every day except Monday. Move
the square with the key to number 1. Press the -/OFF key.
The square around the number 1 (Monday) will disappear.
2. SET START TIMES (1-8 PER PROGRAM)
- Select the program with the ABC
key. The program selected will appear on the screen as “Prog”
followed by the letter A, B, or C.
- Set the first start time with the +/ON and -/OFF keys.
- Press the key to move on to the next start. Repeat above
procedure.
- Press the ABC key to move to next program and set the
starts as above.
- Press the key to store entered data and move
to next function.

Note : It is not necessary to use all 8 start times for each
program !
The transmitter will automatically file your start times in
chronological order from 00:00 to 23:59.
To cancel a start time : use the key to display the start
times.
When you see the start time you want to cancel, hold down
the key for at least 2 seconds or move to the
symbol “--:--“ after 11h59 or after 23h59.
3. SET THE LENGTH OF WATERING TIME FOR EACH
STATION
The station number appears at the left. To set the station
watering time, use the +/ON and -/OFF keys. Time is set
in 1-minute increments from 0 to 12 hours.
Each station must be assigned to a program.
Select the program with the ABC key. Use the key to
move to the next station.
Note : If there is an overlap on the same station, the 2nd
start time will not take place. All single station control modules
are programmed on station 1. Multi-station control modules
are always programmed starting with station 1.
Example : stations 1 and 2 for 2-station modules. Stations
1,2, 3, and 4 for 4-station modules.
You have now completed the programming
4. ERASE PROGRAM DATA IN THE TRANSMITTER
This function erases all program data in the transmitter except
current time and day.
Press the +/ON and -/OFF keys simultaneously and hold
them down for at least 3 seconds.

1. PROGRAM TRANSMISSION
1.1 Plug the field transmitter optical connector onto the control
module. If the LCD screen is blank, press the key.
1.2 - If you have not already done so, enter the program data.
1.3 - Press .
1.4 - After transmission is correctly completed, the
transmitter will display this screen.
1.5 Press to remove the display
1.6 - Unplug the field transmitter optical connector from the
control module. The module will now automatically operate.
Important : if the blinking low battery icon is displayed on
the LCD during program transmission, replace the 9V battery
in the TBOS control module. The low battery icon is used
only in control modules marked TBOS.
NOTE : Make sure the optical connectors are clean and properly
connected to each other. The control module must be equipped
with a fully charged 9V Alkaline battery (Ref. 6LR61).
2. PROGRAM REVIEW AND CHANGE
2.1 - Plug the field transmitter optical connector onto the
control module.
2.2 - If the LCD screen is blank, press the ➞ key.
2.3 - Press the key to receive the program data
stored in the control module. You can now review the program
that is in the control module : run time, start times, water
days, station program assignment (A,B,C), "ON/OFF". However,
you cannot consult the current time of day stored in the module.
2.4 - To modify the program data, simply enter the desired
modifications. Press the key even if you decide
not to make any changes. This will synchronize the transmitter
and module clocks.
Important: if the blinking low battery icon is displayed on
the LCD during program reception, replace the 9V battery
in the TBOS control module. The low battery icon is used
only in control modules marked TBOS.

G. MANUAL FUNCTIONS
Important !
The next 3 functions override all others.
This means that any program currently running will be suspended
to permit the use of the manual functions.
Before carrying out a manual start, make sure a run time
(at least 1 minute) has been programmed and transmitted
to the control module and that the control module is in the
irrigation "ON" mode (no X on the sprinkler).
1. MANUAL SINGLE STATION START.
1.1 Plug the field transmitter optical connector
onto the control module.
1.2 Repeatedly press the key until the following
screen is displayed.
The station number appears at the left.
(Example : station 1).
1.3 Repeatedly press the key until the desired station
number appears.
1.4 To start a station, press the +/ON key. Irrigation will
start after 2 seconds (after 10 seconds for Unik modules
and after 20 seconds for old style Unik modules). See page
the first page of this manual for drawings of the modules.
If you wish to stop watering before the programmed time
is up, press the -/OFF key.
2. MANUAL CYCLE START.
Remember that a cycle consists of all stations operating in
sequential order.
2.1 Plug the field transmitter optical connector into the control
module
2.2 Repeatedly press the key until the screen
below is displayed.
2.3 Select the program cycle you wish to start with the ABC
key.
2.4 Your selection is displayed as “Prog A”, “Prog B” or “Prog C”.

3. SYSTEM ON/OFF (irrigation ON/OFF mode)
The field transmitter has a function which can place the control
module in the “Off” mode. The default mode is “On” which
allows the programmed watering to take place. You can prevent
watering (rainy weather shutoff) without changing the
programmed cycles.
3.1 Plug the field transmitter optical connector into the control
module.
3.2 2 Go to the screen by repeatedly pressing
the key.
3.3 To prevent irrigation press the -/OFF key.
A cross will appear on the sprinkler.
When you receive the program from a module with the field
transmitter, you can see if the module is in the "ON" or "OFF"
mode. The only way to change the mode is by carrying out
a manual ON/OFF. It is impossible to change the mode by
just pressing the key on the transmitter.
To return to the irrigation mode, repeatedly press the ➞ key
until the screen with the X on the sprinkler appears. Now
press the "+/ON" key. The cross disappears.
2.5 Press the +/ON key to start the cycle. After a maximum
of 20 seconds, irrigation will start.
The stations assigned to the program will operate in sequence
- one after the other - until the last station has finished watering.
Irrigation will then automatically stop.
If you wish to stop a manual cycle, press the -/OFF key.
Note : If the system is in the “Off” mode (a cross on the
sprinkler, see next chapter) it is impossible to manually start
irrigation.
