Shipping Information
Your equipment was carefully checked before shipping. Nevertheless, you should thoroughly
inspect the shipment before you sign to acknowledge that you received it.
When you sign the bill of lading, it tells the carrier that the items on the invoice were received in
good condition. Do not sign the bill of lading until after you have inspected the shipment. If any of
the items listed on the bill of lading are missing or damaged, do not accept the shipment until the
carrier makes a notation on the bill of lading that lists the missing or damaged goods.
If you discover missing or damaged goods after you receive the shipment and have signed the bill
of lading, notify the carrier at once and request the carrier to make an inspection. If the carrier will
not make an inspection, prepare a signed statement to the effect that you have notified the carrier
(on a specific date) and that the carrier has failed to comply with your request.
It is difficult to collect for loss or damage after you have given the carrier a signed bill of lading. If
this happens to you, file a claim with the carrier promptly. Support your claim with copies of the bill
of lading, freight bill, invoice, and photographs, if available. Our willingness to assist in helping you
process your claim does not make us responsible for collection of claims or replacement of lost or
damaged materials.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS! SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
Read all instructions.
Care must be taken as burns can occur from touching hot parts.
Do not operate equipment with damaged pneumatic or hydraulic hoses and fittings or if the
equipment has been dropped or damaged – until it has been examined by a qualified service
person.
Do not let pneumatic or hydraulic hoses hang over the edge of a table, bench, or counter or

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 5P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
To reduce the risk of fire, do not operate in the vicinity of open containers of flammable liquids
(gasoline).
Adequate ventilation should be provided when working on operating internal combustion
engines.
Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from moving parts.
Do not use on wet surfaces or expose to rain.
Use only as described in this manual. Use only BendPak recommended attachments.
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. Everyday eyeglasses only have impact resistant lenses, they
are not safety glasses.
To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when this product will be used
around children.
To reduce the risk of injury, never attempt to lift more than the rated capacity.
The Lift uses pneumatic and hydraulic pressure; if your organization has Lockout/Tagout
policies, make sure to implement them after connecting the Lift to a power source.
Only operate your Lift between temperatures of +41°F to +104°F (+5°C to +40°C).
The Lift should only be operated by authorized personnel. Keep children and untrained
personnel away from the Lift.
Do not make any modifications to the Lift; this voids the warranty and increases the chances of
injury or property damage.
Do not use the Lift while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
Consider the work environment. Keep the work area clean. Cluttered work areas invite injuries.
Keep areas well lit.
Always make sure the Lift is secured on Safety Locks before attempting to work on or near a
Vehicle.
Make a thorough inspection of the product at least once a year. Replace any damaged or
severely worn parts, decals, or warning labels. Replace worn or damaged parts with BendPak or
BendPak approved parts and assemblies only.
BendPak recommends referring to the ANSI/ALI ALIS Standard Safety Requirements for
Installation and Service for more information about safely installing, using, and servicing your
Lift.
RML-1500XL is an ATV/ Motorcycle Service Lift. Use it only for its intended purpose.
You must wear OSHA-approved (publication 3151) personal protective equipment at all times
when installing, using, maintaining, or repairing the Lift. Leather gloves, steel-toed work boots,
eye protection, back belts, and hearing protection are mandatory.
Keep loads balanced on the Lift. Clear the area immediately if a Vehicle is in danger of falling off
the Lift. Do not make any modifications to the Lift.
Modifications void the warranty and increases the chances of injury or property damage. Do
not modify any safety-related features in any way.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 6P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Make sure all operators read and understand this Installation and Operation Manual. Keep the
manual near the Lift at all times
.
While handling a Hydraulic Cylinder or a Hydraulic Hose, always wear gloves. In rare cases, a
needle-like stream of hydraulic fluid (even at low pressure) can penetrate fingers, hands, or
arms; such a puncture can feel like a bite, electric shock, or a needle prick. While it may seem
like a minor issue, any amount of Hydraulic Fluid injected into the human body is a serious
issue. Anyone suffering such a puncture wound should be immediately taken to a hospital
emergency room to determine the extent of the injury. Explain the circumstances of the injury
to the attending physician, including what kind of Hydraulic Fluid was involved. Do not assume
a puncture wound that could have been caused by Hydraulic Fluid is a minor issue; it could be
life threatening.
Make an inspection of the Lift before using it. Check for damaged, worn, or missing parts. Do
not use it if you find any of these issues. Take it out of service, then contact an authorized
repair facility, your dealer, or BendPak at (877) 432-6627 or support@BendPak.com.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 7P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Components
•Top Deck. The flat section on which you put the ATV or Motorcycle. Includes the Front Wheel
Vise (for clamping the front tire). The Top Deck is used when lifting Motorcycles, or with the
Side Extensions installed for lifting an ATV.
•Top Deck Side Extensions. Optional. Makes the Top Deck wider. Use for lifting an ATV.
•Top Deck Front Extension. Optional. Makes the Top Deck longer.
•Wheel Vise. Opens and closes to let you securely hold the front tire of the Vehicle on the Top
Deck. Can be bolted to the Top Deck or to the Front Deck Extension.
•Front Wheel Stop. Prevents the Motorcycle Wheel from running over the front of the Top Deck.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 8P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
•Base. The bottom section of the Lift. It includes the Adjustment Rods, the Safety Lock Plate, the
Safety Locks, Lift Cylinder and the Ramps.
•Safety Lock Release Handle. Controls the location of the Safety Lock Plate. When in the Lock
position, lowering the Lift engages the Lift on a Safety Lock. When in the Release position,
lowering the Lift moves the Lift all the way to the ground.
•Safety Stop Ladder. Hold the Lift in position at the desired height once engaged.
•Safety Lock Assembly. The part of the Lift that engages on the Safety Locks.
•Hydraulic Cylinder. Raises and Lowers the Top Deck using hydraulic energy from the
Air/Hydraulic Pump.
•Drive-Up Ramps. Two ramps, wide enough (when both are installed) to accommodate ATVs.
•Air/Hydraulic Pump. Uses pneumatic (air) power to provide hydraulic power to raise the Lift. If
you have a pressurized air supply available (40 to 120 psi at 105 in3), you can connect it to the
Pump to raise the Lift.
•Stand Poles. Tall poles on the Ramp end of the Lift that provide anchor points to assist in
rigging, tie-downs and lifting the Motorcycle or ATV on the Top Deck.
•Top Deck Side Extension Tubes and Ring Pins. Three long Rods that support and connect the
Top Deck Side Extensions and the Front Extension to the Top Deck. Each Connecting Rod has a
Ring Pin on each end (to lock the tube in place).

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How much weight can the RML-1500XL raise?
Answer: The RML-1500XL can raise ATVs or Motorcycles up to 1,500 pounds (680 kg).
Q: What if I want to raise an ATV or Motorcycle that is slightly over the weight capacity?
A: Do not do this! This is not an intended use of the product; you could damage the Lift and injure
bystanders. You must not raise any loads that exceed the rated capacity of the Lift.
Q: How far off the ground will the RML-1500XL raise my Vehicle?
A: It depends on which Safety Lock you engage. The RML-1500XL has six Safety Lock positions, so
you can raise the Top Deck of the Lift anywhere from 24 in / 610 mm to 40.25 in / 1,022 mm off
the ground, whichever height is the right height for the work you are doing.
Q: Can the RML-1500XL be installed or used outside?
A: Yes. That being said, an outside environment is harder on the Lift. Our recommendation is to
use the Lift inside. If you have to use it outside, we recommend storing it inside, moving it
outside while you are using it, then moving it back inside when not in use. Keep the Lift clean
and dry as much as possible, especially the Air/Hydraulic Pump. Remove snow and ice
promptly, Top Deck, extensions, and Drive-up Ramps may be slippery when wet or icy.
Q: Can I put the Air/Hydraulic Pump on either side of the Lift?
A: Yes. The Air/Hydraulic Pump can be located on either side, as far away as the Hose allows.
Q: What do Safety Locks do?
A: Safety Locks use gravity to hold the Top Deck up, once the Lift is engaged on a Safety Lock.
Even if the Lift loses power, the Top Deck stays where it is if you engaged on a Safety Lock.
When you raise a Vehicle, make sure to engage the Lift on a Safety Lock.
Q: Which end of the Lift is the “front”?
A: The end with the Wheel Vise is the Front. The Drive-Up Ramps are located at the rear.
Q: Anything else I should be aware of?
A: Be careful around the Lift. Be safe. Do not ride the Vehicle onto it. Do not let people sit on a
Vehicle while it is on the Lift. Pay attention and use common sense, and the Lift will be a
long-lasting, useful tool.

Installation
This section describes how to prepare your ATV/Motorcycle Lift for normal operation. Perform the
tasks in the order listed.
Installation Safety Rules
Pay attention at all times during installation. Use appropriate tools and equipment. Stay clear of
moving parts. Keep hands and fingers away from pinch points. Safety is a top priority.
Use caution when unpacking the Lift. The unit is heavy and the weight is not evenly distributed;
dropping or knocking over components could cause equipment damage and personal injury.
⚠WARNING You must wear OSHA-approved (publication 3151) Personal Protective
Equipment at all times when installing, using, maintaining, or repairing the Lift.
Leather gloves, steel-toed work boots, ANSI-approved eye protection, back belts,
and hearing protection are mandatory.
Only experienced, trained technicians are allowed to install the Lift.
⚠CAUTION Certain parts of installing the Lift are difficult for just one person. Ranger strongly
recommends having two or more persons work together to install the Lift.
Get the Right Tools
You may need some or all of the following tools and supplies:
•Metric Wrench Set
•Forklift or Shop Crane, with Lifting Strap
•Metric Socket and Ratchet Set
•White Lithium Grease
•Metric Hex Key Set
•Pneumatic fittings and hose to connect to
shop compressed air supply
Finding a Location
Keep the following in mind when deciding on a location:
•Air Supply. An Air Supply (40 to 120 psi) is required to raise and lower the Lift, you need to
locate the Lift so that the Air Supply can connect to the Pump. Your Air Supply must not exceed
150 psi; if it does, you could damage the Lift and put bystanders in danger.
•Floor. The Lift is best used on a flat, Concrete floor. Do not install or use on asphalt or wood
surfaces. Do not install or use on a floor with 3 degrees of slope or more.
•Movement. Your Lift has built-in Casters you can use to move the Lift to different locations.
•Accessibility. You need space at the Ramp end to move Vehicles on to and off of the Lift.
•Danger. When the Lift is in use, keep everyone away from it. Only the operator should be
within 30 feet / 10 meters of the Lift during use. Do not set up the Lift in a well-travelled area.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 13 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Clearances
The drawing below shows the amount of space around the Lift to operate it effectively.
⚠WARNING For safety purposes, only the operator should be within 30 feet /10 meters of
the Lift during use.
Do not scale figure. Not all components shown.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 14 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Unpack the Components
Use caution when unpacking Lift components. You do not want to damage or misplace anything.
Tip Consider unpacking the components in the area where you are going to set up the Lift.
The fewer times you move the components, the fewer opportunities there are for
them to get lost, get damaged, or damage the surface they are on.
To unpack the Lift components:
Move the box holding the Lift as close as possible to where it will be used.
Use appropriate tools to remove the top of the box.
The Air/Hydraulic Pump is delivered in a separate box; remove that from its box as well.
Remove all of the components except the Base/Top Deck.
Remove the bubble wrap from around those components that are wrapped; lay them out near
where you are going to set up the Lift.
Locate the plastic bag that holds the Nuts, Bolts, Washers, and the other items you are going to
need during installation.
BendPak Ranger recommends carefully laying them out near where you are going to install the
Lift so that they are easily accessible when needed.
Find the Hydraulic Hose coming from between the Base and the Top Deck and connect it to the
Hydraulic Connector on the side of the Air/Hydraulic Pump.
The Hydraulic Hose comes already connected to the Hydraulic Cylinder. You only need to
connect it to the Hydraulic Quick Connector on the Air/Hydraulic Pump. Refer to the figure
below.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 15 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Connect to a compressed air supply (40-120 psi at 105 in3) using appropriate fittings to connect
to the 1/4-18 NPT input on the Pump. Refer to the previous figure.
⚠WARNING This Lift uses pneumatic (air) energy; if your organization has Lockout/Tagout
policies, implement them once the Lift is connected to a pressurized Air Supply.
Step down on the pedal where it is labelled PUMP to raise the Lift. Continue to step on the
pedal until the Lift reaches full rise (≈45.4 in. / 1153 mm) then remove your foot from the
pedal.
As the Top Deck rises, the Safety Lock Plate falls into each Safety Lock Ladder position; you hear
an audible clank when this happens. This is normal operation; it also gives you a clear indication
that the Top Deck is rising normally and lets you know when a Safety Lock has been passed.
Put a Lifting Strap around the middle of the Top Deck, then use a Forklift or Shop Crane (or
other appropriate lifting device) to raise the Lift up and then move it away from away from the
Shipping Box or remove the shipping box.
⚠WARNING Only allow trained personnel
to put the Strap in position or
use the lifting device. Be
careful moving the Lift; it is
heavy and awkward. Take
your time and be safe. If the
Lift falls, it could damage the
Lift or injure anyone nearby.
Move the Shipping Box away from the area
where you are setting up the Lift; it is a
tripping hazard.
Use your foot to step on the Pedal section
labelled RELEASE to lower the Lift until it
engages on the top Safety Lock.
⚠CAUTION Always leave the Lift either
fully lowered or engaged on a
Safety Lock.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 16 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Configure the Lift
The Lift may be configured to service Motorcycles or All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV).
•Motorcycle Configuration. This configuration is not wide enough to accommodate ATVs.
To install the Lift in the Motorcycle service configuration, install the Movable Deck Plate, the
two Ramps, then bolt the Tire Vise Assembly onto the front of the Top Deck. Refer to the figure
below.
Note: If you want you use the Lift configured for Motorcycle service, you will still require the two
Drive-Up Ramps to be installed.
If you are configuring for Motorcycle service, do not install the Side Extensions or the Front
Extension. You will also not need to use the Extension Tubes.
If you are configuring the Lift for Motorcycle service, you will have components left over (Side
Extensions, Extension Tubes, Ring Pins and the Top Deck Extension. BendPak Ranger
recommends keeping them in a dry location protected from damage, in case you want to switch
to ATV service in the future.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 17 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
•ATV Configuration. This configuration is wider and will function with both ATVs and
Motorcycles. The only drawback to using the ATV configuration for Motorcycles is that you
cannot get as close to the sides of the Motorcycle as you can when in the Motorcycle
configuration.
To install the Lift in ATV Mode, add the Extension Tubes, Side Extensions and Ring Pins on both
sides of the Top Deck, the Front Extension over the front of the Top Deck, and the two Ramps.
Refer to the figure below.
The procedures in this Manual assume you are installing the Lift in an ATV configuration. If you are
installing the Lift for Motorcycle service, ignore the instructions for components that are only used
in the ATV configuration.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 18 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Putting the Lift Components into Place
The following procedure assumes you have unpacked the Lift components and decided on a
configuration to use. Begin by arranging the components roughly as shown below.
The Wheel Vise Assembly is covered in the next section.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 19 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
BendPak Ranger strongly recommends two people assemble the ATV/Motorocyle Lift. Many
components are heavy and the weight may be awkwardly distributed.
Refer to the figure on the previous and following pages during installation.
To install Lift components:
Install the Movable Deck Plate Assembly in place on the Top Deck at the Ramp end of the Lift.
This Deck Plate is not secured.
Slide the Top Deck Extension over the Top Deck at the opposite end of the Ramps.
You can easily identify this end of the Lift because it has the drilled holes used later to install
the Wheel Vise Assembly.
Align the holes in the side of the Front Extension with the holes in the side of the Top Deck.
Locate the three Top Deck Extension Tubes.
Push Two Extension Tubes through the holes in the sides of the Front Extension and Top Deck.
Refer to the figure below.
Do not scale. Components removed for clarity.
Locate two M10 x 25 Hex Head Bolts (5530738), Lock Washers (5545200), Flat Washers
(5545341) and Hex Nuts (5535013). Insert and secure as shown in the figure above.
Insert the third Side Extension Tube in the Top Deck opening near the Moveable Deck
Assembly. Refer to the figure below.

RML-1500XL ATV / Motorcycle Lift 20 P/N 5900183 — Rev. E2 — May 2022
Locate the two Top Deck Side Extensions.
Place one Top Deck Side Extension on the Side Extension Tubes. Place one Extension on at a
time, one Side Extension on each side of the Top Deck.
Do not knock the Side Extension Tubes out when you put on the Side Extensions.
Locate the six Ring Pins (5505065). These should be located in the Parts Bag that came with the
Lift.
Put the Ring Pins through the holes in both ends of the three Connecting Rods.
