Instructions for Use: RAY® Osmotex Active Sterilising Facemask®
Version 2.1 16 April 2021
Dear Customer,
we are pleased that you have chosen the Osmotex Active Sterilising Facemask. The mask consists of
membranes that disinfect themselves (passively and actively - with the electronic unit) to increase
protection against infectious diseases. This effect has been verified in numerous studies in the
laboratory and in clinical trials in Switzerland and Germany (source: Osmotex AG). Stay healthy!
Scope of delivery
Together with the protective mask, you will receive a rechargeable electronic unit (SC-10) and a
charging cable.
The mechanism (3-fold inactivation)
Osmotex Steriliser - Unlike passive protective masks, the mask continuously disinfects itself through its
active membrane.
Laboratory tests by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (source: Osmotex AG) have shown that
the Osmotex Steriliser technology can destroy more than 99.99% of viruses at a concentration of over
109PFU/ml (plaque forming units), within 15 minutes. This represents a 100-fold increase in virus
concentration and only one-eighth of the time that is employed in standard test for passive antiviral
textiles (according to ISO18148:2019). The Ray Mask contains the Osmotex steriliser textile technology
and accordingly shows a viral inactivation of over 99.9 % in a short time.
In addition to active (electronic) disinfection, the Ray Mask offers additional efficient particle filtering and
additional passive antiviral protection due to the materials used (e.g. silver threads). Thus, it offers a
triple protection:
1. particle filtration: with an N95 filter that is also used in FFP2 masks.
2. passive disinfection - through polarized electrode surfaces, which provides up to 99% inactivation of
viruses and bacteria
3. active disinfection, which results in >99.9 % inactivation of viruses and bacteria

Connecting the electronic unit
There are two push buttons on the electronic unit to connect it to the mask. Use them to attach the
electronic unit to the mask.
Charging the electronic unit
Connect the charging cable to the electronic unit. Use a standard USB charger (protection class II,
CE/UL 5V/ minimum 30 mA).
Putting the mask into operation RAY® Osmotex Active Sterilising Facemask® before each daily
use
Step1: charge the electronic unit SC-10. With the electroncis unit SC-10 fully charged, the mask can be
used for 10 hours.
Step2: before usage the mask should be wetted at the outside, by rinsing in luke warm water under the
tap or rinsing with a thoroughly wetted cloth after removing the electronic unit.
The wetting is needed in order to for the immediate onset of the electrolytic procees and
corresponding anti viral effect. If the mask is donned without pre-wetting, it will take about 30 half an
hour before the desinfection process starts due to moisture from exrpiration.
Please avoid direct contact between the electronic unit and moisture during when attaching it to
the mask. In case it gets wet, it will automatically turn off, and can be used again (by switching on in the
usual way) only after complete drying.
Step3: put the mask on with or without the electronic unit SC-10, holding it against your cheek in order
to cover nose and mouth. Adjust the shape of the nose clip with your hands. Fixate the mask by applying
the elastic bands / earloops behind your ears. Wear the mask comfortably by adjusting the lentght of
the elastic bands by means of the stoppers. Assure that the mask sits firmly.
Switching the electronic unit SC-10 on and off
Please use only the supplied electronic unit for operating
the mask! Please charge the electronic unit completely
before using it for the first time (see section Charging of
the electronic unit).
When the electronic unit is fully charged, press the button to the
right of the two LEDs for 1 second (see illustration).
The right diode lights up permanently green. The mask is now
supplied with permanent power and is activated. The fully charged
electronic unit supplies sufficient current (operating voltage: 0.6 V)
for at least up to 10 hours.
To switch off the electronic unit, press the button for 1-2 seconds
until the green LED goes off. The electronic unit is switched off and
can be activated by pressing the button again.

electronic unit and a USB port (5V/ min. 30mA, CE/UL, protection
class II). During the charging process, the left (red) diode lights up.
Charging the unit may thake 4-6 hours depending on charging
situation at start and ambient temperature. The recommended
room temperature during charging is between 10 °C and 35 °C. At
extremely low or high ambient temperatures the chargin process
may not work properly or not work at all.
Warning! in case of water seepage into the mask during wearing (e.g. during rain), the
electronic unit will switch itself off automatically. It can then be used again after drying
completely.
Care and cleaning of the mask
Remove the electronic unit!!!
The mask may be washed gently by hand at approx. 30 °C. Please do not kink or twist the
membranes. Please do not bend or twist the membranes. After washing, the mask can be
worn again directly, even when damp. Connecting the electronic unit and putting the mask
