Safety instructions
Please read these operating instructions carefully before you start using the
device. Familiarize yourself with the handling of the ES 2000. Pay attention
to the operating restrictions. Observe the following basic safety precautions
to avoid electrocution, injury and fire hazard:
•Do not immerse the ES 2000 in water, or subject it to rain or snow.
•Do not use the device in a humid or wet environment. To increase your
safety a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) should be put in place.
•Ensure the device is switched off before you plug the power cord into
the mains outlet.
•Use only approved and marked extension cords.
•Do not carry the plugged in device, while your finger rests on the
switch.
•Do not use the device in the proximity of flammable liquids or
combustibles (flying sparks).
•Protect yourself from electrocution and avoid physical contact with
earthed parts (pipes, radiators, cookers, et cetera).
•Do not overload the device. Work only within the specified
performance range.
•Do not carry the device by its cable. Pull the cord at the plug from the
mains outlet. Protect the cable from oil, heat, water and sharp edges.
•Have an expert repair all potential damage to the cable.
•Unplug the device from the mains while it is idling or during
maintenance and resetting.
•Keep the device out of the reach of children.
•Keep your workspace tidy and well lit.
•Keep others, especially children, away from your workspace and do
not let others touch the unit or the cable.
•Wear safety goggles. There is danger of flying sparks.
•Use ear protectors.
•Do not reach into the unit while it is switched on.

01.12.2017 - 4 -raze-cat
•Wear fitted clothing and no jewellery while working with the ES 2000,
since it may get caught in the ES 2000.
•Use work gloves. Wear suitable footwork, as well as a hairnet, if you
have long hair.
•Check the unit for potential damage and the movability of its individual
parts prior to use. Please ensure that only a recognized expert carries
out all repairs of potential damages. Do not work with a defective unit.
•Clamp the to-be-worked-on ski or snowboard down tightly with the
base pointing upward, prior to grinding the edge.
•Assume a natural posture and ensure a secure stance while you are
working.
•Only work while fully concentrated and gently apply the pressure of
the ES 2000 to the ski’s edge.
•For your own safety, only use parts and equipment recommended by
the ES 2000 manufacturer.
Electrical connection
Ensure that the mains voltage provided by your electricity supplier matches
the operating voltage (230V/50Hz) stated on the nameplate.
Operating instruction
Do not exert pressure onthe unit duringthe grindingprocess. Otherwise there
is danger of the grinding belt tearing, resulting in damage to the ski or
snowboard edge. While working, do not hold on to the unit around the cooling
holes in order to avoid overheating its motor. Test the equipment on an old
ski first to learn how to handle the ES 2000 and find its ideal settings.

Using the device
The ES 2000 is intended for the tuning of the steel side edges of ski and
snowboards. You are grinding at precisely the angle that has been set and will
get the correct edge sharpness. Do not use the device on the base of ski or
snowboards. Clamp down the ski or the snowboard in a way that allows you to
work with the ES 2000 straight down along the entire length of the edge.

Attaching the grinding belt
Unplug the ES 2000 from the mains. In order to attach it to the device, the
grinding belt is placed over the drive roller (2) (make sure that the arrows,
which mark the directionality on the inside of the grinding belt, are pointing in
the direction of movement!)
Press the idler (3) against the spring’s pressure back into its recess until the
grinding belt (7) can be placed over the idler (3).
Ensure that the belt covers both rollers completely. Move the grinding belt by
hand for two to three revolutions until it runs smoothly over both rollers (1 and
3), only now should the motor be started.

Setting the grinding angle
The ES 2000 is delivered with a factory pre-set grinding angle of 90°. Use this
setting or choose another setting for grinding by unscrewing the lock nut (5)
and turning the adjustment screw (4) until the scale (6) displays the desired
angle.
The illustration below shows a set angle of 90°. The surface above the number
90 is set parallel to the base plate of the ES 2000.
ATTENTION!
Make sure that, after setting the grinding angle, the lock nut (5) is tightened
properly again, otherwise the grinding angle may change while the unit is
operational, which can cause undesirable grinding results.

The edge tuning process
Securely and firmly clamp down the ski or snowboard at an angle, or with the
base pointing upward. Work with the ES 2000 as shown in the illustration below.
Positioning the ski or snowboard at an angle is ideally suited to working safely
and easily with the ES 2000. To tune the edges the ES 2000 is pushed slowly
and with even pressure against the base surface along the ski’s edge.
The unit’s own weight provides sufficient grinding pressure on the edge.
Place the ES 2000 with the support plate (8) on the base in a way that allows
the ES 2000 a steady progression along the ski/ snowboard base, and ensures
that the grinding belt (7) touches the ski’s edge. Hold the unit in a way that
leaves a little gap between the grinding belt and the ski edge. Hold on firmly and
securely to the device and switch on (9) the ES 2000.
As soon as the grinding process (flying sparks) begins, move the ES 2000 in a
single movement, propelling it forward at 300mm/s, (for a ski measuring 150 cm
this means approximately 4 sec) over the base along the steel side edge. To
sharpen the edge, it is usually sufficient to carry out this process once. However,
if you are grinding the ski to a desired angle for the first time, you will have to
repeat this process several times.

ATTENTION:
In the event of increased levels of material abrasion, the edge may get hot.
Ensure sufficiently long breaks between grinding sessions and only use
grinding belts that are intact.
Excessive pressure from the ES 2000 on the steel edge can damage the
grinding belt and/or the ski/snowboard edge. Furthermore, it may lead to the
ES 2000 being ripped from your hands. Blocking the grinding belt must be
prevented under any circumstances. For an optimal finish and adjustment of
the ski edge based on the skill level of the skier/ snowboarder only use
equipment recommended by the ES 2000 manufacturer.
Never pause on the edge with the ES 2000 while it is switched on!
Care and maintenance
Always keep the cooling holes of the unit clean. Pull the plug from the mains
before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning work.
The prolonged and intensive use of the ES 2000 may result in the
accumulation of grinding dust inside the unit’s motor. In order to prevent this,
the device should occasionally be cleaned out with the help of compressed
air.
Warranty
The manufacturer guarantees the mandatory warranty in conjunction with the
purchase receipt and the warranty card. The warranty period begins with the
day of purchase. For that to happen the warranty card must have been filled
out completely on the day of purchase.
Covered by warranty are damages or defects, which have their origin in
material or production faults. Damages caused by improper use and/or
operation as well as overloading are not covered by warranty. For warranty
claims or repairs, please contact the vendor from which you have purchased
the ES 2000.
