Setting Up Your Universal Remote
Place
Batteries
in
the
remote
1.
Remove
the
battery
compartment
cover.
2. Place
four
AAA
batteries
as
shown,
matching
the
+
and
-
end
of
each
battery
as
indicated
in
the
battery
compartment.
3.
Replace
the
cover.
Determine
if
your
remote
needs
programming
Some
RCA,
GE
and
ProScan
devices
may
already
be
pre-programmed.

confirm

Programming Your Universal Remote
The remote may already be set
up
to operate your brand of
TV,
VCR,
or
Cable
Box.
It
is pre-programmed with the following codes:
TV-ODD,
VCR-ODD,
Cable
Box-O~~
and
AUX
is
programmed with
VCR
code
037.
For brands that require
programming, there are two ways to program: Using Code Lists or Code
Search. Use Code Search if the code lists are not available or
if
the codes from
the lists do not operate a device.
Programming
a Device
using
CODE SEARCH
1. Manually
turn
on
your
device
(TV,
VCR, Cable Box).
2. Press
and
hold
CODE SEARCH.
3. Press
and
release the device
button
you
want
to set
up
(TV, VCR,
or
CABLE).
However, if
you
are using AUX for a
device, press
and
release A
UX
first
and
then
the device
button
for the type of device to
be
programmed
(TV,
VCR, or CABLE). The
selected device
button
will flash once.
4. Release CODE SEARCH.
5. Press OFF/ON
repeatedly
until the device
turns
off (you
may
have
to press
up
to 100
tim.es at a rate of once
per
second).
6. Once the device
turns
off,
press
and
release ENTER.
7.
With
the device on, press
another
button,
for example CHANNEL UP.
If
the device
responds, no further
programming
is
required.
If
the device does
not
respond,
repeat
steps 1-7.

Programming a Device using
the
Code Lists

Find
codes for each device
and
brand
on
page
numbers
shown
below.
2.
Press
and
hold
CODE SEARCH.
3. Press
and
release the
TV,
VCR,
or
CABLE
button
you
want
to set up.
If
programming
AUX
for a device, press
and
release A
UX
first
and
then
the device to be
programmed
(TV,
VCR, Cable Box).
When
the selected device
button
flashes proceed to the next step.
4. Enter the three digit code from the
TV, VCR
or
Cable Box code list.

Custom TV (Systemlink Exclusive)
The CUSTOM
button
allows
you
to store 10 of
your
favorite TV
channels
in
memory.
You
can
access these channels
using
the
remote's
number
buttons.
Follow the
steps
below
to
program
channels
to
each
of
the
number
buttons.
Programming
the
Custom
Button
1. Press
and
hold
CUSTOM.
2.
Press
the
number
(0-9)
you
want
to
use
to
bring
up
the
custom
channel. For example,
if
you
want
to
program
channel
12 to
the
number
1
button,
press
l.
3. Enter
the
channel
number
as
you
would
normally.
Up
to three
buttons
may
be
pressed,
including
the
ENTER
button.
4. Release CUSTOM. The
Custom
button
will
flash once
if
programming
was
successful.
If
it
does
not
flash, it
was
not
programmed.
Try
again.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each
additional
channel.
Using
the
CUSTOM
feature
1. Press
and
release CUSTOM.
2. Press a
number
button
to
bring
up
the
Custom
channel
programmed.
Custom
will
flash if
the
button
has
been
previously
programmed.
There will
be
a slight
delay
as channels change, so
be
sure
to
hold
the
number
button
down
until
the
channel
changes.
3. The CHANNEL UP or DOWN keys
can
now
be
used
to cycle
through
all
programmed
number
buttons
while
in
the
Custom
mode.
To
Turn
off
the
Custom
Feature.
6
Press
any
device
button
(TV,
VCR, CABLE,
AUX) to exit the
remote
from
the
Custom
mode
and
place it
in
normal
operating
mode.

one
channel

watch

remote to control
the VCR.

AUX
for a VCR,

Tune

VCR to the channel
you
want
to record.

recording.

to set the remote to control the

tune

Samsung
TV
/VCR
combo
unit
may
be
controlled
by
both
the
Samsung
TV
code
and
the
Samsung
VCR code.
Special Operations
RCA,
GE
and
PROSCAN
Brand
Devices:
Many
of these devices (TVs
and
VCRs) will
not
need
to
be
pro-
grammed.
In
the
event
that
programming
is required,
the
code
search
method
is suggested.
Note:
With
these
brands,
the device
button
(TV, VCR) will
usually
tum
the
units
on. The
OFF/ON
button
will only
tum
these devices off.
SCIENTIFIC
ATLANTIC
Cable
Boxes:
This
brand
of cable box can be
programmed
using
the
code
search
method
by
using
the CHANNEL UP
key
rather
than
OFF/ON
during
Code
Search. NOTE: The device
must
be
turned
on
prior
to
beginning
the
code
search. Once the device
turns
off,
press
and
release ENTER.
In
most
cases this cable
box
can
be
turned
on
and
off
using
the
CHANNEL UP
key
not
the OFF/ON button.
If
the
unit
will
not
tum
on
using
the CHANNEL UP key,
then
manually
tum
it
on
and
only
partial
compatibility will
be
achieved.
