ANT806 Amplified Indoor • Outdoor Antenna

Congratulations on your purchase of the ANT806 Amplified Indoor Outdoor Antenna. This
antenna makes bulky, unmanageable antennas a thing of the past. The ANT806 not only
provides great reception, its new streamlined design is so attractive, you can use it just about
anywhere inside and out. The ANT806 can be installed on your rooftop, under your eaves, in
your attic, outside an apartment window, or on a wall above your TV. It’s lightweight, compact
and HDTV ready. And, because the ANT806 is paintable, it can match either its interior or
exterior setting.

Before You Begin
Please read the Important Safety Precautions on the next page prior to installation. For your
safety and convenience, plan each step of the installation and purchase the necessary hardware
in advance. The hardware required and the order in which you perform the steps depend on
the mounting and connection method you choose.
WARNING!
Use EXTREME CAUTION when handling and installing this antenna. If any
part of the antenna makes contact with exposed wires within your home,
touching the antenna or mast can cause electrocution and death.

Before You Begin
Important Safety Precautions
Many do-it-yourself and professional antenna installers are injured or killed each year by
electric shock. While anyone can see the obvious danger of falling from a ladder, the most
resourceful people sometimes fail to recognize overhead wires as being potentially lethal.
Touching any part of the antenna mast or guy wire to these overhead wires results in the same
shock you would receive if you touched these wires directly with your bare hands. A very
serious shock is almost sure to result when contacting an electrical wire and, in the case of
primary wires on the top of poles, the shock is similar to being struck by a bolt of lightning.
Many power wires are within 20 to 25 feet of the ground and could easily be touched by an
assembled antenna and mast.
Please read and follow these important safety precautions:
• Be sure to select an antenna site well away from all overhead wires.
• Do not try to determine which overhead wires carry high voltage. Check with the power
company.
• If you notice anything making contact with the overhead wires, call the power company to
have it removed safely.
• Do not run the downlead cable over power wires.
• Obtain help from a qualified professional when removing the old antenna if there is any
doubt clearing overhead wires.
• Never install an antenna by yourself. Be sure to have at least two people available for help.
• Never install the antenna when it is windy.
• Be sure to do all assembly work on the ground; then raise the antenna.
• Make sure the antenna mast downlead cable is connected to a suitable lightning arrester.
• Use 8 (or larger) AWG ground wire between the mast and the ground.
• Make sure the installation is secure with the use of guy wires or other mounting hardware.
• If you lose your grip on the antenna, let it fall to the ground. Do not attempt to catch it as it
may touch power lines as it falls.
• CALL THE POWER COMPANY TO REMOVE THE ANTENNA IF IT FALLS AND
TOUCHES POWER LINES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IT YOURSELF.

Before You Begin
Important Antenna Notes
The ANT806 antenna system is designed to work properly when the power injector is
connected to the antenna through a 75-ohm coaxial cable, such as RG6 or RG59.
The coaxial cable between the power injector and the antenna is used for:
• Carrying DC power from the power injector to the amplifier board in the antenna.
• Carrying the amplified TV signal from the antenna through the power injector to the video
equipment.
If any devices are used in your home cabling system, such as amplifiers, splitters, combiners,
matching transformers or 300-ohm cable, they must be connected only between the power
injector and your video equipment. Any devices connected between the power injector and the
antenna might cause a short in the amplifier power source. If this happens, the signals to your
video equipment (multiple TVs or VCRs) may be significantly degraded.

Mounting the ANT806
Interior or exterior mounting to a wall using the L-brackets.
1. Determine the desired mounting location for your new antenna based on where you find
the strongest signal for best reception.
2. Attach the center support bracket to the antenna with the 6 1/8” screws and washers.
3. Attach the L-brackets to the slots in the bottom of the antenna with the 2 U-bolts. These
slots are adjustable to offer flexibility in mounting.
4. Using the brackets as guides, mark the wall where the L-brackets should be secured to the
wall.
5. Attach the RG59 cable to the F fitting on the bottom of the antenna.
6. Secure the antenna to the desired location. It is suggested that you secure the brackets to the
wall studs for the most secure mounting.
Attic or exterior mounting to a mast (not included).
1. Place the two U-bolts through the predrilled holes in the center support bracket.
2. Align and attach the center support bracket to the antenna with the 6 1/8” screws and
washers.
3. Attach a mast clamp on each U-bolt with the jagged edge facing inward and then loosely
place the nuts on the bolts.
4. Slide the U-bolts and mast clamps over the top of the mast and tighten the nuts to secure
the antenna to the mast.
5. Connect the RG59 cable to the F-connector.
6. Raise the mast and secure it at the desired location.
Lightning Protection for Exterior Mounting
• Mount a grounding block (not supplied) as close as possible to the point where the
downlead enters the house.
• The downlead wire from the antenna to the grounding block and the mast ground wire
should be secured to the house with stand-off insulators, spaced four to six feet apart.
• If you’re using a metal mast, consider using a ground rod to get proper grounding for
lightning.

Connecting the Antenna to Your TV
CAUTION!
Be very careful when you’re connecting the antenna to the power injector
and to your TV—you might damage your TV if you install the power injector
backwards! Make sure you pay close attention to the jack you use when
connecting to the power injector.
To connect the antenna to your TV, follow these steps:

1. Connect the coax downlead from the antenna to
the TO ANTENNA UNIT jack on the power
injector.
2. Connect the short coaxial cable built into the
power injector to your TV’s ANTENNA IN jack.
Note: If your TV has screw terminals for the VHF/UHF
connection, connect a 75-ohm to a 300-ohm transformer (not
supplied) between the power injector and the VHF/UHF terminals.

If you want to split the signal coming from the
antenna, connect the short coaxial cable built into
the power injector to your splitter. DO NOT PUT
THE SIGNAL SPLITTER BETWEEN THE

3. Plug the injector’s built-in power supply to the
outlet after all connections are complete.
IMPORTANT: This power unit is intended to be oriented in a
vertical or floor mount position.

Coaxial Cable Installation Precautions
• Do not bend the coaxial cable into less than a three-inch radius. Tighter bends can cause
shorts and can change the cable’s impedance.
• Do not install the coaxial cable where it will have a pulling tension greater than 15 pounds
during installation. After installation, make sure there is no tension on the cable.
• Use only round-headed staples. Any clamps or securing devices used with coax should grip
the cable evenly about the circumference without crushing the cable. Flat staples can damage
the coaxial cable.
• Do not expose the coaxial cable to a temperature greater than 176 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep
the cable away from heating vents and water heaters.
• The cable jacket withstands most outdoor environments. However, you must seal the
connections and splices against water entry.

12 Month Limited Warranty
Audiovox Electronics Corporation (the “Company”) warrants to the original retail purchaser of this product that should
this product or any part thereof, under normal use and conditions, be proven defective in material or workmanship within
12 months from the date of original purchase, such defect(s) will be repaired or replaced (at the Company’s option) without
charge for parts and repair labor. To obtain repair or replacement within the terms of this Warranty, the product along
with any accessories included in the original packaging is to be delivered with proof of warranty coverage (e.g. dated bill
of sale), specication of defect(s), transportation prepaid, to the Company at the address shown below. Do not return this
product to the Retailer.
This Warranty is not transferable and does not cover product purchased, serviced or used outside the United States or
Canada. The Warranty does not extend to the elimination of externally generated static or noise. This Warranty does
not apply to costs incurred for installation, removal or reinstallation of the product, or, if in the Company’s opinion,
the product has been damaged through acts of nature, alteration, improper installation, mishandling, misuse, neglect, or

Precauciones acerca de la Instalación del Cable Coaxial
• No doble el cable coaxial en un radio menor de 7.62 cm. Los dobleces más tensos podrían
ocasionar cortocircuitos y modificar la impedancia del cable.
• No instale el cable coaxial donde su tensión de tiro sea mayor de 6.8 kg durante la instalación.
Luego de finalizar la instalación, asegúrese que no haya tensión en el cable.
• Utilice únicamente grapas de cabeza redonda. Las abrazaderas o dispositivos de sujeción utilizados
con el cable coaxial deberán afianzar el cable por su circunferencia de manera uniforme sin aplastar
el cable. Las grapas planas podrían ocasionar daños al cable coaxial.
• No exponga el cable coaxial a temperaturas mayores de 80 grados Celsius. Mantenga el cable
alejado de conductos de calefacción y calentadores de agua.
• La cubierta del cable soporta la mayoría de ambientes exteriores. No obstante, deberá sellar
las conexiones y los empalmes contra el ingreso de agua.

Conexión de la Antena al TV
¡PRECAUCIÓN!
Tenga sumo cuidado al conectar la antena al inyector de potencia y a su
TV—!podría ocasionarle daños al TV si instala el inyector de potencia al
revés! Asegúrese de prestar atención al conector que esté usando cuando
acople el inyector de potencia.
Para conectar la antena al TV, observe los pasos a continuación:

Para Empezar
Montaje de la Antena ANT806
Montaje interior o exterior a una pared utilizando los soportes en L.
1. Determine la ubicación deseada para el montaje de su nueva antena según donde reciba la señal
más potente para obtener una recepción óptima.
2. Fije el soporte de sujeción central a la antena utilizando tornillos y arandelas de 6 1/8 de pulg.
3. Fije los soporte en L a las ranuras en la parte inferior de la antena utilizando 2 pernos en U.
Estas ranuras son ajustables de manera de ofrecerle flexibilidad durante el montaje.
4. Utilizando los soportes en calidad de guías, haga una marca en la pared donde los soportes en L
deberán quedar asegurados en la pared.
5. Fije el cable RG59 al accesorio F en la parte inferior de la antena.
6. Asegure la antena en la ubicación deseada. Se sugiere asegurar los soportes a los birlos de la pared
para lograr así el montaje más seguro posible.
Montaje exterior o en ático al mástil (no incluido).
1. Coloque los dos pernos en U a través de los orificios pretaladrados en el soporte de fijación central.
2. Alinee y fije el soporte de sujeción central a la antena utilizando tornillos y arandelas de 6 1/8
de pulg.
3. Fije una abrazadera de mástil en cada uno de los pernos en U con el borde dentellado orientado
hacia adentro y luego coloque las tuercas en los pernos sin apretarlas.
4. Deslice los pernos en U y las abrazaderas de mástil sobre la parte superior del mástil y apriete
las tuercas para asegurar la antena al mástil.
5. Conecte el cable RG59 al conector F.
6. Eleve el mástil y asegúrelo en la posición deseada.
Protección contra Relámpagos para Montaje en Exterior
• Monte un bloque de puesta a tierra (no incluido) lo más cerca posible al punto donde los
conductores de conexión entran a la casa.
• El conductor de conexión desde la antena al bloque de puesta a tierra y el cable de puesta a tierra
del mástil deben asegurarse a la casa con aisladores de separación a una distancia de 1.83 m entre sí.
• Si utiliza un mástil de metal, se recomienda emplear una barra de puesta a tierra para obtener la
mejor conexión a tierra y protección contra relámpagos.

Notas Importantes Acerca de la Antena
El sistema de antena ANT806 está diseñado para funcionar de manera correcta cuando se conecta un
inyector de potencia a la antena a través de un cable coaxial de 75 ohmios, tal como RG6 o RG59.
El cable coaxial entre el inyector de potencia y la antena se utiliza para:
• Transmitir alimentación de CC desde el inyector de potencia al circuito amplificador de la antena.
• Transmitir la señal de TV amplificada desde la antena a través del inyector de potencia del equipo
de video.
Si se utilizan dispositivos en el sistema de cableado casero, tales como amplificadores, divisores,
combinadores, transformadores de adaptación o cable de 300 ohmios, estos deberán conectarse
únicamente entre el inyector de potencia y su equipo de video. Cualquier dispositivo conectado
entre el inyector de potencia y la antena ocasionará un cortocircuito en la fuente de potencia del
amplificador. De suceder esto, las señales hacia su equipo de video (múltiples TV o VCR) podrían
degradarse considerablemente.

Importantes Medidas de Seguridad
Muchos instaladores de antena inexpertos y profesionales se lesionan o fallecen cada año debido a
descargas eléctricas. Aunque cualquiera puede ver el daño obvio que resulta del caerse de una escalera,
las personas más cuidadosas a veces no consideran el contacto con cables aéreos como una posible
fatalidad. El contacto entre cualquier parte del mástil de la antena o cables de sujeción con cables
aéreos ocasiona la misma descarga eléctrica que la que se recibe cuando se tocan estos cables con las
manos desnudas. Con mucha probabilidad se producirá una descarga eléctrica si se entra en contacto
con un cable eléctrico y, en el caso de cables primarios en la parte superior de postes, la descarga
eléctrica es similar a la experimentada cuando se es golpeado por un relámpago. Muchos cables de
alimentación se hallan de 20 a 25 pies por encima del suelo, y una antena y mástil ensamblados
pueden fácilmente entrar en contacto con los mismos.
Sírvase leer y seguir estas importantes medidas de seguridad:
• Asegúrese de seleccionar una ubicación para la antena alejada de los cables aéreos.
• No trate de determinar cuáles cables aéreos transmiten alto voltaje. Consulte con la compañía de
electricidad.
• Si observa algún objeto en contacto directo con los cables aéreos, comuníquese con la compañía
de electricidad para removerlo de manera segura.
• No pase los conductores de conexión por encima de los cables de alimentación.
• Si tiene dudas sobre cómo despejar los cables aéreos, obtenga la ayuda de un profesional calificado
cuando vaya a remover la antena antigua.
• Nunca instale una antena por sí solo. Asegúrese de contar con la ayuda de dos personas, como
mínimo.
• Nunca instale la antena cuando haga mucho viento.
• Asegúrese de llevar a cabo el trabajo de instalación en el suelo, luego levante la antena.
• Asegúrese que el conductor de conexión del mástil de la antena esté conectado a un pararrayos
conveniente.
• Utilice un cable de puesta a tierra No. 8 AWG (o mayor) entre el mástil y el suelo.
• Asegúrese que la instalación se encuentre afianzada utilizando cables de sujeción o algún otro
herraje para montaje.
• Si se le resbalan las manos mientras sostiene la antena, déjela que caiga al suelo. No intente volver
