WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The following terms and conditions apply to the Standard Warranty, which
will be valid for a period of 24 (twenty-four) months that will automatically
start on the delivery date of the product.
This Warranty does not alter or cancel out the consumer rights established
by local laws or the rights provided for in any purchasing contracts drawn
up with retailers. The Warranty for faults in RCF products is restricted solely
to the services covered by this Warranty. The Consumer may have other
rights, which vary from country to country. If the local legislation renders
invalid, forbids or exceeds any of the clauses in this warranty, the remaining
clauses will nonetheless remain valid.
DURATION AND CONDITIONS FOR THE VALIDITY OF THE
WARRANTY
RCF SpA provides a warranty for any faults in this product that are present
at the time of delivery and become evident within 24 months of the
delivery date of the product.
• Proof of the delivery date must be provided (by both the Purchaser
and by the Third Party that subsequently bought the product, if any) by a
delivery document issued by the Seller or another supporting document

date of the product. RCF reserves the right to refuse to provide the service
included in the warranty if the abovementioned details are missing or have
been deleted or altered after the initial purchase of the product.
• Any repair work done under the warranty must be carried out by staff at
an authorised RCF Support Centre.
• The Consumer is responsible for providing suitable protection for the
product using its original packaging. RCF SpA will not be held responsible
for any damage that may occur during delivery as a result of unsuitable
packaging.
• At no cost to the Consumer, RCF SpA will only repair faulty components
or, at its discretion, replace a faulty product, or part of it, with another

product that is identical or has an equivalent function. If RCF SpA is
unable to repair or replace a faulty product, the purchase price paid will be
refunded.
• Any repairs or replacements of components or products will not result in
the extension of the duration of this warranty, which will continue until the
end of the 24-month period.
• Loss or damage to any software or data present in the product is not
covered by the warranty. When repairing or replacing products, RCF will
do all it can to reinstall the original software with any updates that it
deems necessary in order for the product to operate correctly, but it will
not save or reinstall any software or data in the faulty product that was not
originally contained in it at the time of sale.

if the serial number of the original RCF product has been deleted, altered

any work and/or repairs and/or spare parts that are found to be faulty due
to:
• Failure to follow the installation, use and maintenance instructions given
in the manual provided with the product
• Negligent or careless use
• Incorrect use and utilisation for purposes other than those for which the
product was sold/designed
• Incorrect installation and/or connection to the power networks (electricity
and data networks, etc.)

expose this device to rain or humidity and also dust.
SAFETY AND OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
1. All the precautions, in particular the safety ones, must be read
with special attention, as they provide important information.
2. Loudspeaker lines (amplifier outputs) can have a sufficiently high
voltage to involve a risk of electrocution: never install or connect
this product when amplifiers are switched on.

ITALIANO
ENGLISH
Contact your authorized service centre or qualified personnel should
any of the following occur:
- The product does not function (or works in an anomalous way).
- The product has been damaged.
- Objects or liquids are inside the product.
- The product has been damaged due to heavy impacts or fire.
7. If the product emits any strange odour or smoke, remove it from
the line after having immediately switched the amplifiers off.
8. Do not connect this product to any equipment or accessories not
foreseen.
9. The entire audio system must comply with the current standards
and regulations regarding electrical systems.
10. Hearing loss
Listening to music at high volumes for a long time can cause
permanent hearing damage, so please use your listening system
responsibly. When you connect the speakers to your audio playback
device, please ensure the volume is turned down before making
use of them and then turn the volume up to a level acceptable to
you. Remember that hearing damage is the result of the ratio of
the listening volume and time. The louder the volume, the less time
before permanent damage may occur.
12. To ensure a correct sound reproduction, loudspeaker phase is to
be respected
(loudspeakers are connected respecting the amplifier polarity). This
is important when loudspeakers are installed adjacent one another,
for instance, in the same room.
13. To prevent inductive effects from causing hum, noise and a bad
system working, loudspeaker lines should not be laid together with
other electric cables (mains), microphone or line level signal cables
connected to amplifier inputs.

11
ITALIANO
ENGLISH
14. The loudspeaker cable shall have wires (twisted, if possible, to
reduce inductive effects due to surrounding electro-magnetic fields)
with a suitable section and a sufficient electrical insulation. Refer to
local regulations since there may be additional requirements about
cable characteristics.
15. Install this product far from any heat source.
16.
Do not use solvents, alcohol, benzene or other volatile substances
for cleaning the external parts of this product. Use a dry cloth
.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing the RCF MC-1 Monitor Controller, a fully
passive monitor controller that provides perfect control over the
playback volume of your studio monitors; «fully passive» means
that there are no active components involved, that could in any way
affect the quality of the audio signal, ensuring the maximum sound
quality level for your studio monitors. RCF MC-1 provides two
separate stereo inputs and two separate stereo outputs.
PUMP UP THE VOLUME
Mixing rooms commonly have different sets of monitors, and allow
you to hear how a mix translates to those different speakers. As
an example, a sound engineer can have a pair of high-precision
reference monitors and another low quality audio reference to
check the final listening experience. In this case, a high-quality
monitor controller is a must. The MC-1 passive monitor controller
from RCF has no coloration and is inherently transparent from
distortion.
With its comprehensive input connectors, including a pair of
COMBO, a pair of TRS and a stereo 3,5 mini jack connectors, RCF
MC-1 allows connection to any kind of source devices, be it in
a Recording Facility, Home Studio or Entertainment System. The
double pair of XLR outputs connectors allows you to professionally
connect to your preferred studio monitor speakers and A/B them
in real time. RCF MC-1 easily manage the selection between audio
sources and monitors, by just pressing the dedicated INPUTs and
MONITORs buttons.
The generously-machined main knob precisely adjusts the listening

level. The DIM switch attenuates the level of 20dB. The MONO key
create a mono listening of your program to verify the correct phase
management of your mix. The MUTE button obviously mutes the
program signal.
With its elegant and ergonomic look RCF MC-1 completes the
setup of your studio, giving simple but advanced functions to your
listening system.

15
ITALIANO

The RCF-MC-1 rear panel provides in the right section a pair of
COMBO inputs [1] allowing you to plug either balanced TRS jacks
or XLR connectors; these are labeled «INPUT A». Below the «INPUT
A» are present a pair of balanced TRS jacks [2] parallel connected
with a mini-jack stereo connector [3]; this section is called «INPUT
B».
In the left section of the rear panel are two pairs of balanced XLR
outputs called «MONITOR A» [4] and «MONITOR B» [5], dedicated
to the connection of a pair of studio monitors each.

MODE OF USE
Typically, RCF MC-1 is connected and used between your sound
source, computer sound card or mixer and your active studio
monitors. For that, you connect your mixer, computer or audio
interface with one of the inputs of MC-1 and at least one of the
outputs with your monitors.
If you have more than one audio source you can connect them
simultaneously using the stereo INPUT A and INPUT B. Via the
MONITOR A and MONITOR B outputs you connect two pairs of
studio monitors and listen to them alternatively.
Please take note that there is no conversion of unbalanced input
signals into balanced signals.

17
ITALIANO
ENGLISH
The VOLUME knob [1] controls the output volume, while MUTE
switch [2] allows you to mute the signal; the DIM switch [3] allows
you to tone down the signal of 20dB to permit conversation in the
listening room. The switch INPUT A / INPUT B [4] allows you to
select the input source. The switch MONITOR A / MONITOR B [5]
provides the selection between the pairs of monitors connected to
the audio outputs. The MONO switch [6] creates a down mix where
the left and right audio signals are each played via both audio
channels.
