4. Re-use, lifetime
The product is designed for re-use. The number
of re-use occasions depends on the product’s fre-
quency of use and manner of use.
Before re-use, the chair must be must be hygien-
ically prepared and the technical and functional
safety of the product must checked over and re-
established, if necessary.
The expected lifetime of the chair can be up to 5
years when used properly and when the safety
instructions, maintenance intervals and care in-
structions are adhered to.
The effective lifetime may vary, however, de-
pending on the frequency, intensity of use and
overall general condition.
5. Disposal
.The disposal and recycling of used products and
packaging must be done according to the appli-
cable regulations. Please contact your local dis-
posal company or environmental authorities for
further information.
6. Safety advisories
When using the chair, the following
safety advisories must be observed:
Caution –danger of slipping!
Before using, check to be sure the seat is se-
curely pressed into the seat frame.
Before using the chair (except when travelling) al-
ways arrest the locking brakes of both 24” grip
wheels in orderto prevent a roll-away of the chair.
When sitting down into the chair, the user must
not sit only on the front edge of the seat or seat
cushion.
Caution –danger of tipping!
The chair may be pushed only using the push
bow (backrest).
The footrests must be swivelled away or folded
upwheneverthepatientisin the process of sitting
down or getting up. The patient must never at-
tempt to stand on the footrests!
The chair must not bump into door sills, thresh-
olds or floor surface protrusions.
Use the chair only indoors and on solid, even,
non-slippery surfaces.
The chair may be pushed only at a walking speed
or less (with or without the patient).
Do not lean out of the chair (when the chair is still
or in motion). If the swivel castors are swivelled
inwards, then the stability of the chair is de-
creased.
Danger of breakage!
The chair is suitable only for transporting per-
sons. Observe the maximum allowable patient
body weight (specified on the nameplate)!
Never attempt to carry or lift the chair while a pa-
tient is sitting in it.
Do not grab hold of or pull on any additional at-
tached objects (such as infusion stands, armrest
cushions).
Warning! Danger of pinching!
To prevent body parts or objects from being
pinched, never reach into the hinge area when
folding the armrests up or down. Be sure to check
that the hinge areas are unobstructed before
moving the armrests. Also see section 9.3.
To prevent body parts from getting pinched, do
not reach between the seat and the frame when
pressing the seat into the seat frame.
Be sure other parts do not get jammed when fold-
ing and unfolding the footrests.
When pulling outor pushing in the commode pan,
there is the risk of flesh becoming pinched. To
avoid injuries, the commode pan may be pushed
in or pulled out only when no one is sitting in the
chair.
Warning danger of falling!
The chair may be used when sitting and rolling
only when the armrests are locked into position.
Sitting down, standing up and transferring the pa-
tient should be supervised by a qualified care-
worker, as to the health condition of the patient.
Use ofthe chair by patientswho do nothave com-
plete physical control and normal movement may
not be done unsupervised.
Rolling the chair on any sloped surface may be
done only with the assistance of a care worker.
Inclines may be moved down on only backwards.
