Introduction
Thank you for purchasing your REED R6013 Pocket Size Moisture
Detector. Please read the following instructions carefully before using your
instrument. By following the steps outlined in this manual your detector
will provide years of reliable service.
Product Quality
This product has been manufactured in an ISO9001 facility and has been
calibrated during the manufacturing process to meet stated product
specications. If a certicate of calibration is required please contact the
nearest authorized REED distributor or authorized Service Center. Please
note an additional fee for this service will apply.
Safety
Never attempt to repair or modify your instrument. Dismantling your
product, other than for the purpose of replacing batteries, may cause
damage that will not be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Servicing should only be provided by an authorized service center.

Operating Instructions
Getting Started
1. Remove the protective cap to expose the electrodes.
2. The meter automatically switches ON when the cap is removed.
3. Secure the cap on the bottom side of the meter.
4. Press the measuring electrodes as far as possible into the material.
5. Read the measurement values on the display.
6. Once testing is nished, re-attach the cap and the instrument will
automatically power off.
Changing the Electrodes (Pins)
In order to replace your electrode pins, follow steps 1 through 7 below:
1. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver remove the 5 screws on the back
of the instrument.
2. Remove the battery compartment to expose the batteries.
3. Remove the batteries.
4. Remove the housing lid.
5. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver remove the 4 screws located at the
top of the electronic plate.
6. Remove and replace the electrode pins.
7. Reinstall the electronic plate, housing lid, batteries and
battery compartment.

During the verication process, the meter should measure as follows:
1. Wood: 27% ±2%
2. Building Materials: 1.25% ±0.1%
If during the verication process the meter does not read within these
parameters, your instrument should be sent in for servicing.
Built-in Battery Check
Makecontactwithtestpins3and4(asshownbelow)whicharelocated
on the top of the protective cap.
During the verication process, the meter should measure as follows:
1. Wood: >44%
2. BuildingMaterials:>2.05%(Displayhastobefull)
If during the battery check process the meter does not read within these
parameters, the batteries will need to be replaced.
Battery Replacement
If the instrument does not automatically turn on when the protective cap
isremoved,theLCDdisplaysthe , or the Battery Check fails, the
batteries should be replaced as follows:
1. Remove the Phillips head screw on the battery compartment located
on the back of the meter.
2. Remove the batteries.
3. Installthree(3)newCR-20323Vbatteries.
4. Secure the battery compartment with the Phillips head screw.

Auto Power OFF
In order to conserve battery life, the meter will automatically turn off after
approximately 15 minutes. To turn the meter back on press and release
the yellow cutoff switch located between the electrodes. Always secure
the protective cap when the instrument is not in use.

REED Instruments guarantees this instrument to be free of defects
inmaterialorworkmanshipforaperiodofone(1)yearfromdateof
shipment. During the warranty period, REED Instruments will repair or
replace, at no charge, products or parts of a product that proves to be
defective because of improper material or workmanship, under normal
use and maintenance. REED Instruments total liability is limited to repair
or replacement of the product. REED Instruments shall not be liable for
damages to goods, property, or persons due to improper use or through
attempts to utilize the instrument under conditions which exceed the
