Regula 7308 Quick Start User Guide

The mobile document reader Regula 7308 has a
built-in PC with the software Regula Document Reader
SDK installed. Document reading and processing are
carried out on the built-in PC. The results of document
processing can be obtained through the Wi-Fi
connection using a data visualization device (tablet
PC, smartphone, PC). The HTTP service on port 88 is
available for this purpose. Read the user’s guide to
the reader, before using the device.
Demonstrating reader capabilities using
the built-in web server
• Connect the data visualization device to
the Wi-Fi network of the reader. Network name:
SoftAP****. Network password: 12345678.
• Open the web browser on the visualization
device and enter the IP address:
http://192.168.173.1:89.
• Scan the document.

Demonstarting reader capabilities using
the demo application for Android
• Connect the android device to the Wi-
Fi network of the reader. Network name:
SoftAP****. Network password: 12345678.
• Install the application 7308 Demo Client.
• Run the application 7308 Demo Client.
If the reader is connected successfully,
the buttons Process and Read in the application
window are active. If any connection problems
occur, make sure that the IP address of
the service in the Message window is correct —
192.168.173.1:88.
• Scan the document.

Copying processing results stored on the reader
Processing results can be automatically stored in
the internal nonvolatile memory of the reader.
The stored results can be copied in two ways:
1) copying through the Wi-Fi network
• connect to the Wi-Fi network of the reader
using the IP address \\192.168.173.1. User
name: user. Password: 1;
• copy the required processing results from
the folder RD.
2) copying to a USB ash drive
• open the left battery slot of the reader and
connect the device to the mains using the AC
adapter from the delivery set;
• open the right battery slot of the reader
and connect the device to the monitor using
the HDMI-HDMI cable from the delivery set;
• connect a USB HUB with a USB keyboard, USB
mouse and USB ash drive to the device USB port;
• Log in to the system. User name: user.
Password: 1;
• Open the folder D:\RD to copy the processing
results.
Changing SSID and WiFi password
• Connect to the Wi-Fi network of the reader
using the IP address \\192.168.173.1. User
name: user. Password: 1.

• Open the folder WiFi.
• To change SSID, edit the parameter ssid in
the le WiFi_SoftAP.bat.
• To change the password, edit the parameter
key in the le WiFi_SoftAP.bat.
Connecting to the external WiFi access point
ATTENTION!
IN CASE OF INCORRECT DATA INPUT,
CONNECT THE READER TO THE MONITOR
USING THE HDMI-HDMI CABLE AND COPY
THE STORED FILE WIFI_SOFTAP.BAT
INTO THE FOLDER C:\WIFI TO RESTORE
THE SETTINGS OF THE WIFI NETWORK AS
AN ACCESS POINT.
• Connect to the Wi-Fi network of the reader
using the IP address \\192.168.173.1. User
name: user. Password: 1.
• Edit the le \WiFi\WiFiExternal\Prole1.xml
according to the parameters of the external
access point.
The eld SSID

Enter the name of the WiFi network in the eld
name. Follow the link http://string-functions.com/
string-hex.aspx, generate hex version of the name
and enter it in the eld hex.
The example above shows the name ExtNetworkSSID
encoded as 4578744e6574776f726b53534944 in
the eld hex.
The eld sharedKey

Enter the password to the WiFi network in
the eld keyMaterial. The password in the example
above is ae0000000.
• Save the le \WiFi\WiFiExternal\Prole1.xml.
• Make a backup copy of the le \WiFi\WiFi_
SoftAP.bat.
• Copy the les WiFi_SoftAP.bat and
Prole1.xml from the folder \WiFi\
WiFiExternal into the folder \WiFi.
• Restart the reader.
Installation of SDK updates
• Connect to the reader through the network
using the IP address \\192.168.173.1. User
name: user. Password: 1.

• Copy the updates (the le data.dat) into
the folder Updates/data.
• Restart the reader.
Installation of a new SDK version
ATTENTION!
ONLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ARE ALLOWED
TO CARRY OUT THIS PROCEDURE.
• Open the left battery slot of the reader and
connect the device to the uninterruptible
power supply using the AC adapter from
the delivery set.
• Open the right battery slot of the reader
and connect the device to the monitor using
the HDMI-HDMI cable from the delivery set.
• Connect a USB HUB with a USB keyboard,
USB mouse and USB ash drive to the device
USB port.
• Log in to the system. User name: user.
Password: 1.
• Turn off the write lter.
• Restart the reader.
• Stop the service 7308_Service.
• Uninstall the previously installed SDK version.
• Install the new SDK version.
• Turn on the write lter.
• Restart the reader.
