We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing this high-quality upright
stander from Rehatec® GmbH. Before using your new Heidelberg upright stander
Standard for the rst time, we would like to ask you to carefully read and observe the safety
instructions.
We reserve the right to make technical changes and improvements to our upright stander.
Please note that the equipment of your Upright stander may dier in some references and
illustrations.

Standard for the rst time. Persons with visual impairments should have the instructions
for use read to them. The safety of the user may be compromised if you do not follow the
instructions in this manual.

The Heidelberg upright stander Standard is designed for physiological
stabilisation of the user. The upright stander Standard is available in
dierent sizes. These instructions for use describe:
• Type 101 (size 3) - for adults with a max. weight of 100 kg
• Type 102 (size 2) - for children/young people with a max. weight of 100 kg
• Type 108 (size 2) - for small children with a max. weight of 40 kg
In order to ensure safe and successful operation of Rehatec® GmbH
devices, all notes, precautions and information in these instructions for
use must be observed. This product is intended exclusively for use by
competent persons who have been trained by the operator. Areas of
application include: home, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, therapeutic
gymnastics and medical therapy.
Rehatec® GmbH gives no guarantee regarding the suitability of this product
for a specic therapeutic and diagnostic purpose. The user/operator must
determine the sensible use.
This medical device is designed for operation inside closed rooms at an
ambient temperature between 15° C and 35° C. Operation in wet areas
is not permitted. The device must also be kept away from heat sources
and strong sunlight - risk of burns! Failure to observe this can lead to
considerable damage and endanger both the patient and the user.
Risiks
Depending on the diagnosis and therapy, it must be claried with a
doctor or therapist how long a patient can stay in the upright stander. The
following symptoms can occur: Circulatory problems, pain in the leg
and/or back area, increased spasticity, seizures. Many patients can only
stand in a bent position at rst and can only be fully extended later. Never
correct the posture by force or strong pressure.
The user must be instructed in the proper use of the device. The
individual abilities and limitations of the respective patient must
always be taken into account.
Never leave users unattended!
1.1 SCOPE OF APPLICATION/INTENDED PURPOSE
The Heidelberg upright stander Standard can be used for the
following indications: muscular dystrophy, infantile cerebral palsy,
myelodysplasia, diplegia, tetraparesis, spina bida, paraplegia,
multiple sclerosis, paraplegia; various diagnoses with paralysis or
reduced strength of the trunk muscles, so that standing upright without
comprehensive support is dicult or leads to poor posture, deformity and
pain.

Contraindications
Before adapting the Heidelberg upright stander Standard to the patient,
you should clarify whether there are any contraindications. The indications
for the treatment must be monitored by a doctor or orthopaedic specialist
at regular intervals. In general, any kind of pain is a contraindication! Under
the following circumstances and/or symptoms, the active and/or passive
use of the device must be explicitly claried with the attending doctor:
patients with non-intact skin, with severe tone dysregulation and/or
with scoliosis. The Heidelberg upright stander Standard does not correct
incorrect postures and is not suitable for growth control! Never stabilise
the posture by force or strong pressure!
1.2 RESPONSIBILITY
The operator is responsible for the intended use as well as for maintenance
and care of the product. Product modications, repairs, maintenance
work and extensions to the system may only be carried out by authorised
persons. Only original spare parts and accessories shall be used.
Rehatec® GmbH only provides a warranty if the upright stander is used
under the specied conditions and for the intended purposes (see chapter
„1.6 Warranty and service“).
1.3 DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY
The corresponding declaration of conformity is available at
www.rehatec.com under „Downloads“. The CE mark must be removed
if the Rehatec® product is converted, modified or used in combination
with unauthorised products from other manufacturers. The CE mark also
expires if original Rehatec® spare parts/accessories are not used.

1.4 CARE AND MAINTENANCE
The user is responsible for regular maintenance and care.
1.4.1 CLEANING IN THE PRIVATE, DOMESTIC
AREA
Do not use abrasive agents or rough cloths for cleaning.
• You can use any conventional cleaning agent to clean the entire
product. Observe the care and safety instructions on the respective
cleaning agent!
• Clean the powder-coated base frame, the wooden foot plate and tray
and the chrome-plated add-on parts with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Then dry the parts thoroughly.
Cleaning articial leather covers
Do not use any cleaning agents containing oil and grease.
The surface of artical leather are not resistant to solvents,
chlorides, polishing agents, washing polishes or aerosol
sprays.
Substances that have dried or penetrated for a long time can
only be removed to a limited extent.
• Remove any stains as soon as possible with lukewarm water and a
damp cloth, preferably microbre or cotton.
• For heavier soiling, use a warm, mild soapy water solution and a sof
hand brush. Repeat the cleaning process several times if necessary.
Then wipe o the remains of the cleaning agent with a damp cloth
and lukewarm water.

1.4.2 MAINTENANCE
Never use a unit that is not in perfect condition.
In case of excessive wear or if worn product parts are
not replaced, the safety of the product may no longer be
guaranteed.
Faults, malfunctions or defects may only be repaired by the
manufacturer or the operator/care provider.
Do not make any changes to the product-
In case of complaints or problems, please contact your care
provider/operator!
Only use original spare parts / accessories or those approved by
Rehatec® GmbH.
Before each use
Please check the following functions before each use:
• All connecting parts and components required for the care of the
patient. You can treat moving parts/mechanisms with a Teon spray (dry
lubricant) and wipe o excess residue with a soft cloth.
• The function of the brakes.
During use
• It is important that all components are undamaged during use. Therefore,
check them regularly and have them repaired or replaced if necessary.
The upright stander Standard must be serviced every 12 months,
taking into account any maintenance intervals to be carried out
earlier, in accordance with the following inspection schedule.

1.5 FURTHER USE
1.5.1 REUSE OR REPROCESSING
The operator/care provider is responsible for reuse or reprocessing.
The Upright stander Standard is basically suitable for reuse, although
products in reuse are subject to special stress.
When the product is used again, it is important that all documents
belonging to the unit are handed on to the next user.
Before each reuse, the product must be thoroughly inspected
according to the inspection plan and cleaned according to the
following reprocessing instructions.
Important notes on preparation:
Do not use abrasive agents or rough cloths for the desinfection process.
• The powder-coated base frame and the chrome-plated add-on parts
must be cleaned with a CE-certied surface disinfectant. Dry the parts
thoroughly afterwards. Alternatively, disinfection can also be carried out
in a certied cold fogging system.
• Articial leather covers must be disinfected with a CE-certied surface
disinfectant. Then dry the covers thoroughly with a microbre cloth
Alternatively, disinfection can also be carried out in a cold fogging
system.
LIFETIME
The lifetime of the product resulting from the risk assessment is 10 years.
1.5.2 DISPOSAL
The product may not be disposed of with household waste.
The upright stander Standard must be disposed of properly. Please
contact your specialist dealer.
Packaging materials are to be separated according to their waste types
and disposed of via the waste containers in accordance with municipal
recycling rules. Waste disposal may vary from municipality to municipality.
For proper disposal, please contact your municipal waste disposal service
or the administration of your place of residence, if necessary. Observe the
disposal regulations of your country.

1.6 WARRANTY AND SERVICE
Warranty services refer to defects of the product that are demonstrably
due to material or manufacturing defects.
The Upright Stander Standard is guaranteed for 3 years from the date of
delivery on the frame parts. Any defects are covered by Rehatec® GmbH
free of charge. Electrical components, cushions, wooden parts, fabrics,
castors, gas spring, Bowden cables, louvred or toothed segments are
excluded from the warranty.
Rehatec® GmbH cannot accept any further warranty or liability for
damage resulting from:
• Non original or spare parts and accessories not approved by Rehatec®
GmbH
• Changes or interference with the product not approved by Rehatec®
GmbH
• Natural wear and tear or excessive strain
• Usage not in accordance with the intended purpose or destructive
damage
• Failure to follow the instructions for use
• Accidental damage
• Repairs or modications carried out by persons who have not been
trained or authorised by Rehatec® GmbH.
1.6.1 WARRANTY CONDITIONS
• Complaints must be made in writing
• Design modications without the written consent of Rehatec® GmbH
nullify the warranty.
• Defective or replaced parts remain the property of Rehatec® GmbH.
• The warranty does not cover damage due to accidents.
• The guarantee refers to new units.
1.6.2 SERVICE/COMPLAINTS
Rehatec® GmbH is at your disposal for complaints, enquiries and for
further information or ordering of accessories and retrottable additional
equipment.

1.6.3 SERVICE PLAN
Inspections must be carried out by the dealer and fully documented on the copy. This document belongs to
the appliance and serves as proof in the event of reuse and when claiming warranty services. Please keep it
together with the operating instructions.

2.1 SIGNS AND SYMBOLS

2.2 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please follow all instructions in this manual carefully. Incorrect operation
can impair important functions. All safety instructions and other
regulations must be observed at all times by both the patient and the
accompanying / supervising person.
Before using the upright stander for the rst time, make sure that all
possible adjustments have been made correctly and that all parts are
securely fastened.
Check all adjustments at regular intervals. Regularly tighten screws
with all adjustable parts. Pay particular attention to adjustment
possibilities with two clamping connections, tighten screws if
necessary.
Combinations of the standing system with third-party products of
any kind can be dangerous. Rehatec® GmbH accepts no liability for
damage and/or complications resulting from such combinations.
Never leave the patient unattended! Depending on the medical
condition and weight, 1-2 helpers are needed to lift the user into the
standing system.
The standing system may only be used by a single person. Make
sure that the patient is suciently secured / xed against falling out
without limiting comfort.
The appliance may only be installed, operated, repaired and
maintained by qualied personnel authorised and trained by the
manufacturer.
The max. load must not be exceeded. (See chapter „Technical data“).
The device must not be used if defective. The device must not be
operated and used if it has defects that could endanger and/or injure
patients, employees of the care provider or third parties.
The appliance may only be installed, operated, used and maintained
in accordance with its intended use.
Repair and adjustment work requires special technical training and
must be carried out by Rehatec® GmbH and authorised, qualied and
trained specialist dealers only.
2.Safety

Range of adjustment must not be exceeded. Secure clamping of the
adjusted parts must be guaranteed.
During all repair and adjustment work, be aware of the risk of pinching
and crushing!
Never use force when making adjustments. Improper handling
may cause defects and/or damage to the unit. If necessary, read the
instructions.
The appliance may only be used on a stable and level surface.
To avoid the risk of re, make sure that the device is never used near or
in connection with ammable materials! Wood, cushions and plastic
parts are ammable and not reliably ame-retardant, e.g. due to
smoking utensils, ovens, cookers, replaces and other room heaters!
Surfaces can get hot due to heat supply - risk of burns! To protect the
patient from burns, make sure that the unit is kept away from heat
sources (e.g. replaces) and strong sunlight, and that it can never heat
up above 41°C.
The unit must not be used outdoors, in wet areas or in environments
with high humidity. Condensation must not form on the surfaces. The
unit may only be operated inside at an ambient temperature of 15°C -
35°C.
If the unit has come into contact with moisture, ensure that it is dried
o immediately, e.g. by rubbing it dry with an absorbent soft cloth.

3.1 SCOPE OF DELIVERY
The Upright Stander Standard is usually supplied fully assembled and set
up for the patient by an authorised specialist dealer. The Upright Stander
Standard is available in dierent sizes. You can nd more information
about size and maximum weight in the table in chapter „Technical data“.

3.2 ACCESSORIES
Accessories are parts or components that are not included in the standard
version of your Upright Stander.
It is recommended to order the desired accessories with the initial order.
However, you can also purchase and t all accessory components at a later
date. For further information, please contact your specialist dealer.

When ordering accessories or spare parts, you should always state the
serial number. The serial number is located on the type plate (see chapter
Product identication).

Before you place the patient in the Upright Stander Standard and make
adjustments, the following preparations must be made:
Place the unit on a non-slip, level and stable surface.
Before use, clarify how long the patient may remain in the
Upright stander in order to prevent possible injuries.
• It is recommended that at least two people set up the unit and start the
standing procedure in order to prevent possible injuries.
• Adjust the knee cups of the Upright Stander Standard so that the
knee cup is positioned on the knee cup (see chapter „Back support“). In
the case of contoured features, these must be taken into account when
positioning the knee cups!
The higher the patient is positioned, the easier it is to initiate the
standing process!
4.1 HOW TO INITIATE THE STANDING TRAINING
4.1.1 WITH SCISSOR FRAME
• If the upright stander has a back support, it must rst be removed. (see
• chapter „Back support“).
• Fold the tray completely forwards or upwards.
• Open the scissor frame by pulling up the lever 1.
Make sure that the scissor frame does not collide with any
people/objects and that there is sucient space for the
procedure - otherwise there is a risk of injury!
• Position the upright stander as close as possible to the patient and secure
the castors, if present. Secure the patient‘s seat against rolling away.
• Position the patient‘s feet in the sandals.
• Initiate the standing procedure until the patient is standing upright.
If possible, the patient can hold on to the tray support to assist the
process.
When raising the patient to the standing position, the knee
angle should not be less than 90° - otherwise there is a risk of
injury!
The patient must always be supported during the standing
process - otherwise there is a risk of injury!
• Close the scissor frame by pressing down fully on thelever 1and fold the
tray down.
Make sure that the tray does not collide with the patient.
• If available, mount the back support (see chapter „Back support“).

4.1.2 WITH SWIVEL ARM FRAME
• If the upright stander has a back support, it must rst be removed. (see
chapter „Back support“).
• Fold the tray completely forwards or upwards.
To open the frame: Open the star knob

counterclockwise. Swing the latch

and open the pelvic frame

backwards or sideways.
Make sure that the swivel arm frame does not collide with
persons or objects and that there is sucient space for the
operation - otherwise there is a risk of injury!
• Position the upright stander as close as possible to the patient and secure
the castors, if present. Secure the patient‘s seat against rolling away.
• Position the patient‘s feet in the sandals.
• Initiate the standing procedure until the patient is standing upright.
If possible, the patient can hold on to the tray support in order to
support the process.
When raising the patient, the knee angle should not exceed 90° -
otherwise there is a risk of injury!
The patient must always be supported during the standing
process - otherwise there is a risk of injury!
To close the frame: Swing the swivel arm 3back. Allow the latch 2to
engage completely. Close the star knob 1by turning clockwise. Fold the
table down.
Make sure that the tray does not collide with the patient.
• If available, mount the back support (see chapter „Back support“).
4.2 HOW TO COMPLETE THE STANDING TRAINING
4.2.1 WITH SCISSOR FRAME
• If the upright stander has a back support, it must rst be removed. (see
chapter „Back support“).
• Position the patient‘s seat as close as possible to the upright stander and
ensure that both the upright stander and the seat are secured against
rolling away (lock castors if present).
• Fold the tray completely forwards or upwards.
The patient must hold on to the frame or be supported by a
person - otherwise there is a risk of injury!
• Open the scissor frame (see chapter „Standing training with swivel arm
frame“).
• Lower the patient into the seat.
