Battery Test Connection Procedure.
1. Disconnect the 882IS battery cable from the 882IS indicator.
2. Remove the battery pack from the battery mount and take to a non-hazardous area.
3. Remove the lockout device and battery cable from the battery.
4. Plug the connector from the battery charger into the connector on the battery tester and
the the connector from the battery tester into the connector on the battery.
5. Connect the charger power cord to a properly grounded outlet supplying the correct input
voltage.
The 882IS battery tester is powered by the battery being tested. If the tester does not illuminate, the battery voltage is
too low to power the tester or the protection circuit in the battery pack is damaged.
Apply Load
When the Apply Load button is pressed, the instrument measures voltage of the battery while it is under a full load.
Press Apply Load on the battery tester for a few seconds to test the health of the battery.
Apply Charge
When the charger and tester are connected to power and the Apply Charge button is pressed, the instrument measures
voltage going into the battery from the battery charger.
Press
Apply Charge
on the battery tester for a few seconds to test the health of the battery barrier and connection to the charger.
To disconnect the battery tester from the battery, follow the connection steps in reverse order.
If battery is tested to be weak or unhealthy, do not attempt to repair the battery. Call Rice Lake Weighing Systems
technical support at 800-472-6703.
Healthy Battery Results Weak Battery Results
Displayed voltage:
• Immediately decreases slightly
• Displays a voltage of a value greater than or equal to 5.7 VDC
Displayed voltage:
• Fully charged battery displays a voltage of a value less than
5.7 VDC

Healthy Battery Barrier and Charger Results Unhealthy Battery Barrier and Charger Test Results
Displayed voltage:
• Slowly increases as button is held down
If the voltage does not increase, it could mean:
• Battery charger is not connected, not powered up, or is defective
If the voltage is not displayed, it could mean:
• The battery pack is not connected
• The battery pack protection circuit is defective
• There is physical damage to the battery, connector or cable
