Switching on and setting the time
Before using your clock radio you must first set the correct time.
1. Placetheunitonaflat surface. Plug themainsleadintoawall socket
and switch on.
2. The clock display will flash 12:00.
3. Press and hold down theTime Set button.
4. WhilstholdingdowntheTimeSetbuttonpressthefastforward(Fast),
or slow reverse (Slow) buttons to set the time. Release the buttons
whenthecorrecttimeisreached.Theclockusesa12hourdisplaywith
a PM indicator. Ensure that the correct 12 hour cycle is selected.

Listening to the Radio
1. TurnontheradiobyslidingtheFunction switch tothe'On'position.
TheLEDdialpointerwilllightupindicatingthattheradio isswitched
on.
2. SelecttherequiredwavebandusingtheWavebandselectorswitch.
3. Tune in to the desired station by rotating the Tuning control. The
station frequency is indicated by the LED dial pointer.
The Wire aerial located on the rear of your clock radio is for FM
reception. The wire should be fully extended and positioned for
optimumreception.
ForMWand LWreceptionthereis a builtin ferrite aerial.Rotate your
clock radio to the position giving best reception.
4. Adjust the volume by rotating theVolume control.
5. The radio can be switched off by sliding theFunction switch to the
'Off' position.
Note:iftheradiodoesnotswitchoff,thismaybecausedbyinadvertent
operationoftheSleepbutton.PresstheAlarm/Offbuttontocancel.

Setting alarm times
The alarms can be set to wake you by either sounds natural or the radio.
Youralarmclockradiohas2separatealarmswhichcanbesettoactivate
atdifferenttimes.
Setting alarm 1
1. Slide theAlarm function switch to the '

' position.
2. Press and hold down theAlarm set button.
3. Whilst holding down the Alarm Set button press the fast forward

CheckingtheAlarmTimes
1. To check alarm 1 time, set the Alarm function switch to the '

2. Press the Alarm Set button to display the alarm 1 time.
3. To check alarm 2 time, set the Alarm function switch to the '

position.
4. Press the Alarm Set button to display the alarm 2 time.
Note: The alarm times cannot be checked if the Alarm function
switch is in the '

' position.

Setting the alarms to wake to sounds natural
Your clock radio can be set so as to wake you to any one of the following
naturalalarmsounds:-Birds,Ocean,Stream,Chimes.Thealarmsounds
graduallyincreaseinvolumereachingmaximumlevelafter10-15seconds.
1. Setthealarmtimeas previously described.SettheFunction switch
tothe 'Natural' position. Set theAlarm selector switch tothe '
1
',
'
2
' or '
1+ 2
' position. The corresponding Alarm indicators will
light.
2. SettheSoundsnaturalswitchlocatedontherearofyourclockradio
to the desired wake up sound. The coresponding Alarm sound
indicator will light up. The natural alarm will sound every day at the
presettimefor59minutes.Toturnoffthealarmuntilthenextdaypress
the Alarm/Off button. To turn off the alarms permanently set the
Function switchto the 'Off' position.
3. Tosamplethealarm sounds set theFunction switchtothe'Natural'
position,selecttherequiredsoundusingtheSoundsnaturalswitch.
Press theSnooze button to hear a sample of the alarm sound. This
sample facility is not available whilst the alarms are active.
Setting the alarms to wake to radio
1. Setthealarmtimeas previously described.SettheFunction switch
to the 'Radio' position. Set the Alarm selector switch to the '
1
',
'
2
' or '
1+ 2
' position. The corresponding Alarm indicators will
light. Ensure that a station is tuned in and theVolume control is set
to the required level. The minimum volume setting on radio alarm is
factory set to ensure there is always adequate wake up volume .
Theradioalarmwilloperateeverydayatthepresettimefor59minutes.
To turn off the radio alarm until the next day press the Alarm/Off
button.ToturnoffthealarmspermanentlysettheFunctionswitchto
the'Off'position.
Notes: Your clock radio is fitted with a If an alarm time has not been
setandtheFunctionswitchisleftinthe'Natural'or'Radio'position,
thenaturalorradioalarmswilloperateat12:00midnight.Ifyoudonot
require the alarm function, ensure that theFunction switch is set to
the'Off'position.

Snooze control
Theradioorsoundsnaturalalarmcanbesilencedfor7minutesbypressing
the Snooze button. This sequence can be repeated whilst the alarm is
sounding.
Sleeptimer
The radio can be set to turn off after a preset time has elapsed.
Press and hold down the Sleep button until the desired time is reached
(maximum59minutesin1minutesteps).Theradiowillswitchoffafterthe
sleep time has elapsed.
Tocancelthesleepfunctionbeforethepresettimehasexpired,pressthe
Alarm/Offbutton.

AutoDimmer
TheAutoDimmerlocatedonthebottomrightsideoftheLEDdisplaywill
automatically adjust the intensity of the clock display to suit room
brightness. The display brightness can be further adjusted using the
Display dimmer switchlocated on the left side of your clock radio.
Headphones (on rear)
AHeadphoneSocket(3.5mm)isprovidedforusewitheitherheadphones
oranearpiece.Insertingaplugautomaticallymutestheinternalloudspeaker.

Fuse
This apparatus must be protected by a 3A fuse (BS1362) in a 13A plug
(BS1363). If another type of plug is used a 5A fuse should be fitted in the
plug,adaptorordistribution board.
IF IN DOUBT - CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
Back-upBattery(notnecessaryfortheunittofunction)
Slide the battery cover catch in the direction of the arrow. Remove the
batterycover.Fita9voltIECsize6LR61(6F22,PP3)orequivalentbattery
intothe compartment. Replace the battery cover.
Thetimeandalarmsettingswillberetainedduringatemporaryfailureofthe
ACmainssupply.TheLEDdisplaywillnotbeoperational.Thedisplaywill
beextinguishedtoconservebatterylife,butthememorywillretaindetails
of the time and alarm time settings.
Ifyourclockradioisnottobeusedforaprolongedperiodoftime,remove
the battery to avoid damage by battery leakage.
The wire coloured BLUE must be
connectedto the terminal marked N
orcolouredBLACK.
Thewire coloured BROWNmust be
connected to the terminal marked L

Donotallowthisunittobe exposed towaterorsteam.Itisrecommended
that the FM band be used wherever possible as better results in terms of
qualityandfreedomfrominterferencewillusuallybeobtainedthanonthe
MW or LW bands.
Mainssupply
The CR9900 will operate from a supply of AC 230volts, 50Hz only.
Foryourconveniencethisproductissuppliedwithaplugwhichisfittedwith
afuseoftheappropriaterating.Iftheplugsuppliedisnotsuitableforyour
socketoutlet,itshouldberemovedbyunscrewingtheplugtop,theterminal
screws,andremovingthe cable.
The correct style of plug to suit your household together with a correctly
rated fuse should be fitted.
IFINDOUBT-CONSULTAQUALIFIEDELECTRICIAN
IMPORTANT.DONOTmakeanyconnectiontothelargerterminalwhich
is marked with the letter E or by the safety earth symbol or coloured
GreenorGreen-and-yellow.
Thewiresinthemainsleadarecolouredinaccordancewiththefollowing
codes :- BLUE - NEUTRAL BROWN - LIVE
Asthesecoloursmaynotcorrespondwiththecolouredmarkingsidentifying
the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:-
