Thank you for using the EDIROL F-1 Video Field Recorder. This document describes installation of the dedicated
free software for F-1.
You can install the below software programs with one installation process. Please refer the separately downloaded
manuals for operations of the software.
Roland Corporation and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any loss or damage (loss of profits, loss of data or other economical

Before Installation and Setup
Before you carry out installation and setup, check the following points.
The destination computer must meet the requirements described below. Before you carry out installation and setup, check to make sure it meets
these requirements.
Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later
Windows Vista SP1 or later*
* 64-bit versions of Windows Vista are not supported.
Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz or higher
Windows XP : 1 GB or more
Windows Vista :2 GB or more
* Note: When the F-1 Utility Editor is not used, the required memory is 512 MB or more for Windows XP or 1 GB or more for Windows Vista.
300 MB or more
* Note: When the F-1 Utility Editor is not used, 200 MB or more is required.
DirectX 9 support
True Color support
Ethernet (10/100 Base-TX) RJ-45 type
* LAN port is necessary for F-1 Net Control
Two or more USB Ports installed on the unit as standard equipment. Connectors supporting Hi-speed USB (compliant with USB 2.0) are recommended.

A computer having a manufacturer-installed version of one of the operating systems listed above is required. Even if your computer is
running one of the operating systems described above, these programs may not run correctly if the operating system was upgraded after the
computer was purchased, or if a different operating system has been installed on the computer.
* Note : If it is unclear whether your computer satisfies the requirements just described, consult the manufacturer or vendor of the computer.
* Note : These programs have been confirmed to run on standard computers that meet the conditions described above, but operation under these
conditions in all cases is not assured. Please be aware that even on computers meeting these requirements, processing capacity may vary due to
differences in device-specific settings or specifications, or in usage environment.

Before Installation and Setup
To run, these programs require a connection between the computer and the F-1 or a removable storage for the F-1. For more information on how
to make the connection, refer to the owner’s manual for the F-1.
To run, these programs require the latest version of DirectX to be installed on your computer. These programs use DirectX to improve screen-
drawing speed on the computer.
1.
Download DirectX.
Download the latest version of DirectX from the following website.
http://www.microsoft.com/

Double-click the downloaded file.
When the download has finished, double-click the file. The window for the setup program appears.

Follow the instructions in the setup program to install.
Follow the on-screen instructions to carry out the installation procedure. For more information, refer to the information given on the
download page and the documentation included with the downloaded data.
Making a Connection to the F-1 or a Removable Storage for
the F-1
About DirectX
Most commercially available computers come with DirectX installed by default. If the version is old, however, these programs may be
unable to run correctly. Before you install and set up these programs, update DirectX to the latest version.
* Note :To install DirectX, log on to the computer as an Administrator.
* Note : Before installing DirectX, quit all programs that are running.

Installing and Setting Up
When the preparations on the computer are finished, carry out the installation procedures for this software.
1.
Expand the archived file.
The file downloaded from the Roland website is a compressed ZIP-format archive. First, expand the compressed file using an archive-
expansion program. Expanding the file creates a folder named “F1UtilSetup_v1xxxE” on the desktop in Windows.
* Note : The “v1xxxE” portion of the folder name indicates the program version number and shows that these are the English-language versions of the
programs.

Double-click “setup.exe.”
In the “F1UtilSetup_v1xxxE” folder, double-click the icon shown below.

Note : If you’re using Windows Vista, a “User Account Control” window appears. Here, select “Allow.”

Click “Next.”
To quit installation, click “Cancel.”

Select the destination and users.
Select the installation destination for these programs, and the users who will access them. Check the settings, and if no problem is found, go
on to the next step. If you find a problem, make the needed changes.

Click “Next.”
The window for confirming installation appears. Click “Next.” Installation starts. Wait a short while for the process to finish.

Click “Close.”
When the installation and setup operation finishes, the window shown below appears. Clicking “Close” closes the setup program window.
