USER GUIDE
Congratulations on purchasing your new Retro Brand Set Top Box, which offers you the
best in home entertainment. The device can be attached to television and stereo receiving
equipment to play movies on videodiscs, play video games, play music stored on compact
disc and display images on your television screen. Please read this instruction guide and
keep it for future reference should you have any question on how to use this device.

USER GUIDE
CONNECTING YOUR RETRO BOX:
Make sure that your Retro Box is unplugged and switched off before continuing. Plug the
control unit into the control unit one jacket on the front of the system. Attach the
composite video and audio jacks to the television or stereo receiving system,
corresponding to the color designations on the plugs.
Turn your television or stereo to the input reception setting. Some devices may
automatically switch to this setting when they sense your Retro Box plugged into the
composite video and audio input jacks. Finally, plug in the Retro Box. Turn the receiving
unit on and then turn the Retro Box unit on after it has been plugged in.

PLAYING AN AUDIO COMPACT DISC:
Insert a compact disc into the load drawer with the label side up. Press the play button on
control unit one after the compact disc has finished spinning. When playing an audio disc
through the stereo system there is no need to leave the television unit on.
Users listening to audio programming through the compact disc feature may use the
pause and rewind functions on the control unit in order to shift tracks. They may also stop
or shuffle the tracks in turn.
PLAYING A MOVIE FROM A VIDEODISC:
Insert a videodisc into the load drawer with the label side up. Choose a menu option using
the control pad on control unit one. Press the play button once the correct menu option
has been selected.
PLAYING A VIDEO GAME:
Insert a game disc into the load drawer with the label side up, and then select a menu
option using the control pad on control unit one after the demo has played. A second
controller may be attached while the unit is switched off in order to play games for two
players.
VIEWING IMAGES:
Insert a photo compact disc with the label side up. The system will automatically display
the first image that it encounters. Use the control pad to shuffle through the image
various displays stored on the disc.
ATTACHING PERIPHERALS:
Owners who use their Retro Boxes for nothing but playing audio and video compact discs
will not need to use any unit besides the basic control unit. However, those who enjoy
using the system to play video games might want to explore some other peripheral
options. Retro Industries has produced several other devices that can be attached into
either of the control jacks for video game use.

These devices can also be used to select menu options. Please remember to turn the
system off before attaching any new controller unit.
Joysticks, steering wheels, paddles and motion pad controllers can be purchased and
attached to the system. Ensure that any new devices for use with the Retro Box have the
Retro Seal of Quality, which indicates that it is an officially licensed product. Using
unofficial products with your Retro Brand Set Top Box can result in a voided warranty.
USING THE BACKUP MEMORY FEATURE:
There is an onboard backup memory feature for saving settings. This is achieved through
on board battery. Settings selected on the compact disc and videodisc player screens will
automatically save to this battery function.
Some video games make use of this feature in order to save game data. These games will
do so automatically, as long as the battery continues to hold a charge.
Memory management can be achieved through the file management screen.
CAUTION!
When using your Retro Brand Set Top Box, please keep the following pointers in mind:
1) Do not expose your Retro Brand Set Top Box to any form of water or moisture.
2) Do not attempt to disassemble or alter the device or any of its peripherals in any
way. The user can service no internal parts.
3) The device is designed to operate at 110-120 VAC at 60 Hz. Do not use the device
with a foreign electrical outlet without a proper converter.
4) Disconnect the power cord when you are attaching your Retro Box to the television
set.
5) Turn off your Retro Box when it is not in use.
6) Do not situate your Retro Box near vents, stoves, radiators or any other sources of
heat.
7) Keep all ventilation slots on your Retro Box clear to prevent overheating.
8) Do not recharge, disassemble or dispose of the internal lithium battery in a fire.
9) Do not permit small children to misuse the Retro Box.
