ThisusermanualisforusewithRSComponentsIndustrialultrasoniccleaningtanks.
Allcleaningtanksshouldbehandledwithcaretoensurelong-lastingperformance.
Pleasereadandunderstandthisusermanualbeforeusingyourultrasoniccleaner.
Initial setup and Fluid selection
Ensurethetankispositionedonalevelstablesurfacewithlockablewheelssecuredtoprevent
movement.
Ultrasonicgeneratorsshouldbepositionedoutofareaswherethereisariskofsplashingorhigh
humidity.
WestronglyrecommendthatRCDResidualcurrentdetectorsareusedonthesuppliestothe
heatingcircuitandgenerator/ssupplies,thismayprovideadditionalprotectiontotheOperatorand
theunit,shouldafaultconditionoccurorthegeneratororleadssu󰀨erwateringress.
Donotuseanyuidswhichcouldpotentiallydamagethestainlesssteelbathe.gacids.
Aqueoussolvent/detergentsolutionsshouldbemadeupwithdeionised,demineralisedordistilled
waterunlessitisknownthesolventcontainsawatersoftener.Calciumcarbonateandother
impuritiesintapwatercana󰀨ect/reducethecleaningpropertiesofthesolutionsandproduce
undesirablesidee󰀨ectssuchasdepositsandstaining.
Volatilesolventswithlowboilingtemperaturesshouldnotbeused.Theultrasonicactioncan
causethemtoheatrapidlyandthevapourisareriskandmaybedetrimentaltothehealthofthe
operator.
Routine maintenance
• UltrasonicGenerator/sshouldbemonitoredtoensurethecoolingfanintherearoftheunit
doesn’tbecomecloggedwithdust,anysignicantbuild-upofdustshouldberemovedbya
competentperson.
• ThenishoftheStainlesssteelbathcanbemaintainedthroughregularcleaningwithadry
cloth,thiscanbeimprovedifdampenedwithlightoil.
Daily Maintenance / Operation
• Ensurepowerisdisconnectedbeforeattemptingtoaddorremovetheuid.
• Theuidlevelwithinthebathshouldbemaintainedtoatleast¾ofthebathdepthtoensure
nodamageisdonetothebathandheatingcircuit.
• Donotletitemsrestonthebaseofthebath,alwaysuseabasketorsuspenditems.
• Whensubmergingpartsensuretheuidisnotdisplacedoutofthebath.

•Donotuseuidsexceeding80°C.
•Thereisnospecicadviceonwhentoreplacethecleaningsolutionsassolutionslifewill
dependonthevolumeofitemsbeingcleanedandhowcontaminatedtheyaretostartwith.
Werecommendremovalofthesolutionfromthebathwhenitisnottobeusedforstorage
inaseparatecontainer,lteringatthisstagemaybebenecialtoprolongsolutionlife.Fluid
removalallowsfortheroutinecleaningofthebathwhereanaccumulationofcontaminants
suchasgrease,dirt,swarfandoilcanberemovedfromthebaseofthebath.Ifleftthebuild-
upofhardcontaminantscanrubonthebaseofthebathandalongwiththeultrasonicaction
thiscandamagethesurfaceofthebaseofthetank.
•IfanyoftheelectricalconnectionsbecomewetordamptheCleanershouldbeisolatedatthe
suppliesandcheckedandrectiedbyacompetentpersonbeforereuse.
•Cleaningcycletimeswillvarydependantontheitembeingcleaned,thesolutionbeingused
andthenishrequired,typicallywewouldrecommenda5-minutecycleasastartingpoint
andincreasethecycletimeaccordinglyuntilthedesiredresultsareachieved.
•Themaximumcycleruntimemustbelimitedto45minutesandshouldbefollowedwitha20
minutesrestperiodtoensurelongandreliableoperation.
•Neverdropanitemontothebaseofthebath.
•ADegasscycleisrecommendedatthebeginningofeachdayorwhenthesolutionhasbeen
changed,thepurposeoftheDegasscycleistopurgeexcesspocketsofairfromthesolution
whichwillensurethecleaningresultsaremoreuniformandreliable.ADegasscyclecanbe
performedbyoperatingthePulse,orfullpowercleaningcycleforapproximately10minutes.
IfyouforgettoDegassitislikelythatthecleaningactionislikelytobesignicantlyreduced
onyourrstclean.
•IfatanypointadefectisnoticedwiththeUltrasoniccleaner,leadsorgenerator/sisolatethe
Cleanerfromthesupplyandawaitadvisefromacompetentappointedperson,spareparts
areavailablebycontactingusdirectly.Engineersarealsoavailabletoo󰀨erhelpandsupport
youwithtechnicalqueriesandadvice.
•Careshouldbetakenwhenusingtheheaters,checkthethermostatpositionbefore
poweringonthecleaner.Donotleaveunattended,theheatingcircuitisnotintendedfor
continuoususe,itshouldbepoweredapproximately1hourbeforethecleaneristobeused
andswitchedo󰀨attheendofeachworkingday.Failuretodothiswillreducetheelements
servicelifeandmayleadtoprematurefailure,notcoveredunderwarranty.
•Onlyresponsibleadultsshouldoperateultrasoniccleaners.
•Donotplacehandsorngersinthebath.Contactexposuretoultrasoniccavitationis
suspectedtocauselivingtissueandbonedamage.

Monthly Checks
•PeriodicVericationoftheCleanersfunctionalitymaybenecessarytoensureitisoperating
correctly(ThiswillbemorespecictocertainindustriessuchasMedical/Dental)thesetests
aregenerallymonthlyandtendtobeacomparativetestbasedonthepreviousmonth’stest
resultswhereyouarelookingforchangesincleaningresults.
•Thiscanbeconductedusingcalibratedsamplesynthetictestpiecesproducedtomimic
bloodortissueyouwouldndonmedicalinstrumentsorbyperformingafoiltest,onlarger
tanksthetankisusuallysectionedtoensureallzonesofthebatharemeetingtherequired
cleaninglevel.
Fault Finding and Troubleshooting
•Theheatingcircuituses1000Wheaterpads,thenumberofpadsuseddependsonthe
Heatingpowerratingoftheunit,inclearsolutionsitcanbeseenthattheheatingelements
createsmallcurrentsofmovementinthewaterandbubblesontheinsideofthebathnext
totheheaterpads,thiscanbeagoodwayofverifyingthatalltheheaterpadsareworking
shouldyouexperiencedelaysinheat-uptimes.
•Neverchangeafuseforahigherratedvalue.
•Technicalsupportandsparesareavailableifyoucontactusdirectly,wealsoo󰀨era
chargeablerepairserviceifyouwishtoreturntheUltrasoniccleanertous.
Safety
•Heateduidsandobjectsbeingcleanedareapotentialscoldrisk,appropriatePPEis
advised.
•WearingEarprotectionmaybenecessarywhilstoperatingtheultrasoniccleaner.

Ground-Indirtandgrimecanbeextremelytediousandtime-consumingtoremovebyhand,
however,itbecomeseasywiththeuseofultrasoniccleaners.Awiderangeofpartscanbe
cleanedbytheultrasonicprocesstoa‘LikeNew’conditionwiththerightdetergent/solvent
withoutdamagingthepart.
Aphysicale󰀨ectcalled“acousticcavitation”generatedintheliquidisresponsibleforthe
cleaningprocess.Cavitationsformwhenultrasonicwavestravelthroughliquid.Whenasound
wavetravelsthroughuiditstretchesandcompressestheliquidtotransmitthesound,as
theamplitudeofsuchsoundwavesincreasetoacriticallevelthenegativepressurescreate
cavitiesinthewater.
Asthesecavitiescollapsehightemperaturesandlargeforcesaregeneratedinaverylocalized
area,theaccumulativee󰀨ectofmillionsofthesecollapsingcavitiesisresponsibleforthe
cleaningactionandareparticularlye󰀨ectivewhenusedwiththecorrectdetergent/solvent.
Cavitationtakesplacewhereevertheliquidcomesintocontactwiththeobjectbeingcleaned,for
example;

Ultrasoniccleanerscanbeusedtocleanjustaboutanything.Thelistbelownamesthemost

manufactureroftheobjectstobecleanedwhethertheyaresuitableforultrasoniccleaning.

Around20minutesshouldbeenoughtoremove/loosenmostforeignbodiesfromtheitemyou
arecleaning.Thereisnospecicrecommendeddurationforacleaningcyclebutgenerallythe
shorterthebettertominimizethepossibilityofdamagetotheitembeingcleanedespeciallyifit
istobecleanedregularly.Itwillreducetheultrasoniccleaningcycletimebysoakingtheitemto
becleanedforaslongaspossiblebeforeultrasoniccleaning.Itisrecommendedaftercleaningis
completedtoperformashortrinsecyclewithcleanwatertoensurecleaningagentdepositsare
notleftinobscuredareasoftheobject.
Theactionofultrasoniccleaningwillslowlymicropitthesurfaceofmetals,aluminiumis
particularlyeasilyeroded.Thesofterthemetalthemorerapidlyitwillbeerodedwhichmaybea
concernwithpolishedmachinedandaestheticpartswhichneedtobecleanedregularly.
Gemstonesincludingthoseusedinjewelleryandclocksshouldbecleanedwithgreatcaution.
Somestonesaresurfaceeroded,canlosecolourorbecomediscoloured,crackduetoultrasonic
shockand/orheat,seethelistbelowforstoneswhichareunsuitableforultrasoniccleaning,
Pleasenote;thislistisforreferenceonlyandisbynomeansexhaustive;
Pearl,Opal,Amber,Tanzanite,Emerald,Peridot,Agate,Amazonite,Topaz,
Aquamarine,Turquoise.
Pleasenote;thisinformationisforreferenceonlyandisnotexhaustive
WeakergemstonesettingssuchasGrain,Paveandinvisiblecanbeloosenedbyultrasonic
cleaning.MechanicallysuperiorsettingssuchasClawandruboverarenotgenerallya󰀨ected.
Certainelectroniccomponentsareconsideredsensitivetoultrasoniccleaning,unfortunately,
thereisverylittleempiricalpublisheddataregardingthissubject.Ingeneral,itissafetoclean
thevastmajorityofelectroniccomponents.Tominimizethepotentialfordamage,turnthebasket
occasionallyduringthecycletostopultrasonichotspotsanduseane󰀨ectiveaqueoussolventto
quicklyremovethecontamination.
Youshouldconsideradhesivesusedintheobjectbeingcleaned,thesecanbeattacked/softened
bythedetergent/solventusedandthebondunderminedbytheultrasonice󰀨ect.
Fullyimmerseitemintothewater.Ensuretherearenoairpocketsinrecessesandblindholes/
chamberstoensuretheultrasonice󰀨ectcanpropagatetoallsurfacesoftheitembeingcleaned.

Delicateitemsshouldbecleanedinabaskettoreducetheultrasonicintensityandturnthe
basketperiodicallyduringthecleaningcycletostopstandingwavecleaninghotspots.
Allsinglefrequencyultrasoniccleanerscreatestandingwaveswherethecleaninge󰀨ectismost
aggressive,betweenthesehotspotstheultrasonicintensitywillreduce.Amoreevencleanis
achievedbyusingthe“pulse”function(seepage10)andbyperiodicallymovingtheitembeing
cleanedorturningthebasketseveraltimesduringthecleaningcycle.
PLEASENOTE;theuseofabasketwillreducethecleaninge󰀨ectiveness,forthisreason,it
ispreferabletosuspendheavilysoiledrobustitemssotheyareexposedtothefullultrasonic
intensity.Itemsmustnotsitonthebaseofthebath.
Alwaysusewarmwater,neverhot/boiling.Ifusinganaqueoussolventyoucanspeedupthe
heatingoftheuidbymixingsomepreheatedwaterwiththeroomtemperatureuidinthebath
andttingthelidwhichalsoreducesevaporation.Donotthermallyshockthebathbyputting
boilingwaterdirectlyintoanemptybath.
Refertouidmanualforoperatingtemperatures.
Makesurethereisgoodspacearoundyourobjects,itisnotadvisedtooverlapitemsinthetank.
Themoreitemsloadedintoanultrasoniccleanerthelongertherequiredcycletimewillbeto
e󰀨ectivelycleanthemsoitisbettertowashlittleandoften.
Ifyouarecleaningasmallpartinalargeultrasoniccleaneryoucanreducesolutionwastageby
usingonlyasmallamountofcleaningsolutioninavesselcontainingtheitembeingcleanedand
lltherestofthebathwithplaintapwater.
Printheadsshouldbeconsidereddelicate.Itisadvisabletosoaktheprintheadrsttoloosen
driedink,runtheultrasonicincyclesoftwominutesthenushheadwithwarmwaterandseeifit
runsclear.Longcycletimescancausetheheadtofailorleadtoimpreciseinkdispensing.
Duetothenatureofrubberandcertainsoftmaterials,thecleaningactionisreducedasthe
cavitationactionisbouncedo󰀨thematerial’ssurface.

Thefollowinginstructionswillensurethesafeandcorrectuseofyourindustrialseriescleaner:
StepOne:EnsuretheUltrasoniccleanerisplacedonalevelsolidsurfaceandwheellocksare
securedon.EnsuretheUltrasonicGenerator/sarepositionedinaconvenientpositionwhere
theircablesdonotcreateatriphazard,awayfromtheriskofwateringress.Itisrecommended
thatthemainssupplyisprotectedviaanRCD(ResidualCurrentDetector).Thiswillprovide
additionalprotectiontotheequipment/operatorshouldtheitembecomewetordamaged.
StepTwo:Addyourchosencleaningsolutiontothebath(cleaningagentsarenotalways
necessary)toalevelwhereitwillnotoverowwhentheitemtobecleanedisadded.Additem
tobecleaned.ThebathuidlevelshouldIdeallybemaintainedtoatleast2/3ofthedepthofthe
bathtopreventdamagetotheheatingcircuit.
StepThree:Plugthegenerator/sintotheUltrasoniccleanerandconnecttheUltrasonicCleaner
heatingcircuittoasuitablyisolatedwallsocket,connecttheGenerator/stosuitableoutlet
sockets.(Avoidusingextensionleadswhichcouldbeoverloaded),Switchonwalloutlets.
AdjusttheUltrasonicCleanerthermostattotherequiredtemperature,AbrightGreenlightwill
indicatetheheatingcircuitisoperating,pleasenote:itcantakeapproximately1hourforthe
temperaturetoreachoperatingtemperaturefromcold.
StepFour:Digitaldisplaysonthecontrolgenerator/spanelshouldnowshowthelastsettimeor
generatorfrequencyifnotimehasbeenset.
StepFive:Toincrease/decreasethetargettemperature,turnthedialtoyourdesiredtemperature
westronglysuggesttouseatemperaturebetweenroomtempand80°C,usingatemperature
higherthanthiswilldecreasethee󰀨ectivenessofthecleaner.Theheaterisusedtokeepuidat
atemperaturebetweencleaningcycles,theultrasonicprocessalsoactstoheattheuid.
StepSix:Toincreasetheprocesscleaningcycletimervalue,holdthetimeruparrowbutton.
Todecreasetheprocesscleanercycletimervalue,holdthetimerdownarrowbutton.
StepSeven:Usepowerupanddownbuttonstoadjusttheultrasoniccleaningpowertothe
desiredlevel.AVisualindicationofthepowerisshownonthebargraphdisplayatthebottomof
thedisplaywindow.
StepEight:Oncethetime,temperature,andpowerhavebeensetpresstheon/o󰀨buttonto
beginthecycle.Toendthecyclebeforethetimerhascounteddownpresstheon/o󰀨button
again.

Additional Cleaning Modes
Dierent Methods of Cleaning
Pulse Mode:ThePulsefunctioncreatesapulsatingactionbyuctuatingthetransducerpowerto
reducestandingwaves.
Thisfunctionhelpsspreadtheforceofthestandingwavesmakingitsafertocleansensitive
objects,butwealwayssuggestthatwhencleaninganythingdelicatetodoatestrunassome
damagestillmayoccur.
General Cleaning:Forlightlysoiledobjectsyoumayneedacleaningsolutionatalow
concentrateofcleaningadditiveandforashortcycle,itisbesttostartata2-5minutecycleand
increasestrengthasrequireddependantontheresultsachieved.reducingthegenerator/spower
settingisrecommended,especiallywhencleaningdelicateitems.Wesuggestonlyusingwarm
water.
EnhancedCleaning:Iftheobjectsinquestionneedadeepercleanthenweadvisetheuseofan
ultrasoniccleaningsolutionmixedatamediumconcentrationandheatedtothemid-rangeofthe
uidsoperatingtemperature.
ExtensiveCleaning:Heavilysoileditemsshouldbecleanedwithasteamcleanerorjetwash
toremovelargeheavydepositsorcontaminants,failuretodothiswillprematurelycontaminate
cleaningsolutionsandincreasethecleaningcycletimerequirements.Fortheremovalofhard
oringraineddeposits,werecommendapre-soakingintheultrasonicbathwithdetergent/solvent
mixedtoitsstrongestrecommendedconcentrationratiotosoftenunwanteddepositswhilst
heatedtothehighendoftheuidsoperatingtemperaturerange.Cleaningshouldbecarriedout
atthehighestrecommendedfluidconcentrationandthehighestrecommendedfluidtemperature.
