n order to achieve correct and effective use of RSG HALF MASK, it is extremely
important to read and comply with these instructions.
Only original RSG-spare parts may be used when maintaining and repairing RSG HALF
MASK.
RSG SAFETY B.V. recommends that regular service and repair should be carried out by
trained personnel. More extensive repairs should be carried out by RSG SAFETY B.V.’
technical department.

RSG HALF MASK is a CE-marked half mask, tested and approved in accordance with
EN140:1998.
RSG HALF MASK covers the nose, mouth and chin. When an RSG F LTER is fitted to
the RSG HALF MASK, the result is a filtration respirator which protects the user’s
respiratory organs against harmful gases, fumes and/or particles.
RSG HALF MASK is produced in 2 material types:
RSG Neoprene Rubber is a soft material which is kind to the skin and is suitable for
the majority of working situations in which a half mask is required.
RSG Silicone is kind to the skin, and is a very soft and comfortable material which
is only affected by ageing to an extremely limited degree. Perfect for tasks where
there is, for instance, a risk of adhesion of dyes.
RSG HALF MASK is produced for each material type in 3 sizes (Small-Medium-Large).
The user of RSG HALF MASK can thus choose a mask which fits comfortably, tightly
and safely to the face, irrespective of facial shape and size.
RSG HALF MASK is equipped with adjustable straps (“quick release”) which ensure a
rapid, perfect and comfortable fit.
The straps are fixed to a plastic front plate so that, when in use, the mask is pressed
against the face with a uniformly distributed pressure, which provides the best and
safest fit.

f the polluted air’s oxygen content is 17-21% (volume), RSG HALF MASK can be used
with an RSG gas, RSG particle or RSG combined filter. Use an oxygen meter to
ascertain the oxygen content of the air. Only RSG filters are tested and approved for
use with the RSG HALF MASK. Follow the filter’s instructions for use carefully.
f the oxygen content of the air is less than 17% (volume), an air-supplied respirator
which is independent of the surrounding air must be used.
f the gas content of the air exceeds 0.1% (volume), or the air contains particularly
noxious particles or gases, a full face mask should be used (RSG FULL FACE MASK).
Note that eye and head protection may also be necessary.
n areas where the use of respiratory equipment is necessary, there is often a danger
of explosion. f this is the case, then the relevant precautions must be observed.
f the user has certain physical features (such as a beard or thick sideboards), then the
RSG HALF MASK might not give a satisfactorily tight fit to the face. This will also apply
if spectacle frames obstruct the facial seal. n such cases, the user carries the risk of
damage to his health.
Leave the area immediately, check the mask and replace parts if:
1. The mask, parts thereof, or filters are damaged.
2. Breathing difficulties occur.
3. Dizziness or indisposition occurs.
4. Pollution can be tasted or smelt, or other irritation occurs.

1.At the bottom of the RSG filter, a
“marking” can be seen. Hold the filter
such that the index finger is located
opposite the “marking”.
2. Guide the bottom of the RSG filter down
onto the filter holder. When the index
finger/“marking” is in line with the “arrow”
on the front part of the half mask, then the
filter socket and filter holder are in the
correct position.
3. Turn the RSG filter in the direction of the
arrow until it cannot be turned further. The
filter is then correctly fitted. The same
procedure should be followed when
fitting the second filter.
When fitting RSG filters, two identical filters, suitable for the purpose for which they are to be used,
should be fitted before entering the polluted area. When replacing filters, both RSG filters must
be replaced at the same time.

PUTTING ON THE RSG HALF
MASK:
1. With one hand, hold the mask in front of
the face and place it so that the mouth,
nose and chin are covered. Then pull the
head straps over the head, and place the
two-piece headband behind the head.
2. Then take the bottom straps in both hands,
place them behind the neck and fasten
them together. .
3. Pull the head straps and the bottom straps
tight. The impermeability of the mask can
now be checked before entering the
working area.
CHECK BEFORE USE:
RSG HALF MASK must always be checked
before use in order to ensure that the half
mask is not damaged and is clean. t is
extremely important that a mask leakage test
(see below) is always carried out before use.
MASK LEAKAGE TEST:
Place the palms of your hand over the open
filter housings (plastic film or pieces of
cardboard can also be used to cover the
openings if your palms are not sufficiently
large). Gently breath in and hold your breath for
about 10 seconds. f the mask is sucked in
towards the face, then it is correctly adjusted.
f any leakage can be felt, the straps should be
adjusted in order to stop the leak. f a orrect fit
cannot be achieved, then a detailed
examination of the mask’s individual
components is necessary. Note that the size of
the mask can be highly significant with regard
to achieving the correct fit.

CLEANING:
t is recommended that the mask be cleaned after use. Clean the mask and the other
components (except the filters), in lukewarm water to which a mild detergent has been
added (e.g., washing-up liquid or a liquid washing machine detergent) which does not
contain perborate. f the mask is very dirty, a brush can be used to clean it. Do not use
solvents (e.g., benzine or spirit) or very warm water (max. 60°C). The mask should be
rinsed thoroughly in lukewarm running water (refer to cleaning intervals in table 3, page
8).
DISINFECTION:
Disinfect the mask components in a suitable solution after use. Use a disinfectant such
as “MULT DOR”. Follow the instructions carefully (refer to disinfection intervals in table
3, page 8).
DRYING:
RSG HALF MASK should be air-dried or dried in a drying cabinet at a temperature not
exceeding 60°C. Avoid direct sunlight.
STORAGE:
Store RSG HALF MASK in airtight and light-proof packaging in a cool and dry place.
NOTE!
Silicone has a tendency to absorb detergents and disinfectants. rritation of
the skin can occur as a result.
Therefore:
1. Reduce the time the substances are in contact with the mask, which is
stated in the instructions, to a minimum.
2 Rinse thoroughly in running water for 10 minutes, after cleaning and
disinfection of RSG HALF MASK 30 01 01.

7 (GB) MAINTENANCE - SUB-COMPONENT NUMBERS
MAINTENANCE:
The mask’s components, in particular the exhalation valve membrane and the valve
seat, must be checked before use. A correctly functioning exhalation valve and
membrane are just as important for the correct functioning of the mask as is the
replacement of the filters at the correct time.
Check/Replacement of the exhalation valve membrane:
Open the cover to the exhalation valve. Holding the edge of the membrane, pull it
carefully out. The valve seat must be clean and undamaged. f the membrane is
deformed, split, or otherwise damaged, it must be replaced with a new original
RSG-membrane (refer to maintenance intervals in table 3, page 8).

they can be identified - refer to table 4, page 8.

WICHTIGE ANWEISUNGEN:
Um die Halbmaske RSG HALF MASK korrekt und optimal einsetzen zu können, ist es
sehr wichtig, daß diese Gebrauchsanweisung sorgfältig gelesen und befolgt wird.
Es dürfen bei Wartung und Reparatur der RSG HALF MASK nur originale
RSG-Ersatzteile verwendet werden.
RSG SAFETY B.V. empfiehlt hnen, regelmäßige nspektionen und Reparaturen von
Fachpersonal durchführen zu lassen. Größere Reparaturen sollten von der technischen
Abteilung von RSG SAFETY B.V. durchgeführt werden.
Die RSG SAFETY B.V. übernimmt keinerlei Haftung für Reparaturen, die nicht von ihrer
technischen Abteilung durchgeführt wurden.

Die RSG HALF MASK ist eine halbmaske mit CE-Kennzeichnung, geprüft und
zugelassen in Übereinstimmung mit EN140:1998.
Die RSG HALF MASK bedeckt Nase, Mund und Kinn. Zusammen mit dem RSG F LTER
bildet die RSG HALF MASK einen filtrierenden Atemschutz, der die Atmungsorgane
des Benutzers vor schädlichen Gasen, Dämpfen und/oder Partikeln schützt.
Die RSG HALF MASK gibt es in zwei Materialausführungen:
Neoprengummi ist ein weiches und hautfreundliches Material, das sich für
die meisten Arbeitssituationen eignet, zu der eine Halbmaske erforderlich ist.
Silikon ist ein hautfreundliches, sehr weiches und komfortabel zu tragendes
Material, das nur in ganz geringem Umfang altert. Eignet sich perfekt etwa für
Aufgaben, bei denen ein Risiko für Farbanhaftungen besteht.
Die RSG HALF MASK wird in jeder Materialausführung in drei Größen geliefert: Small
- Medium - Large. Dem Benutzer der RSG HALF MASK wird, egal, über welche
Gesichtsform und -größe er verfügt, eine Maske geboten, die dicht und sicher ist und
angenehm am Gesicht anliegt.
Die RSG HALF MASK ist mit einstellbaren Bänderung (“quick release”), die schnell eine
perfekte und angenehme Paßform gewährleisten. Die Bänderung ist an einer
Kunststoff-Frontplatte befestigt, so daß die Maske beim Einsatz an das Gesicht gepreßt
wird, und zwar mit gleichmäßig verteiltem Druck, der für bestes und sicherstes
Anliegen sorgt.

Wenn der Sauerstoffgehalt der verunreinigten Luft 17-21% (Volumen) Sauerstoff
beträgt, kann die RSG HALF MASK mit RSG Gas-, RSG Partikel- oder RSG
Kombinationsfilter getragen werden. Nur RSG-Filter sind zum Einsatz zusammen mit
der RSG HALF MASK geprüft und zugelassen. Richten Sie sich sorgfältig nach der
Gebrauchsanweisung der Ausrüstung.
Wenn der Sauerstoffgehalt der Luft weniger als 17% (Volumen) Sauerstoff beträgt,
muß eine Luftversorgung sichergestellt werden, die nicht von der umgebenden Luft
abhängig ist.
Wenn der Gasgehalt in der Umgebungsluft 0,1% (Volumen) überschreitet oder diese
besonders giftige Partikeln oder Gase enthält, sollte eine Vollmaske (RSG FULL FACE
MASK) getragen werden.
Achten Sie darauf, ob ggf. Augen und Kopf zusätzlich geschützt werden müssen.
Wo der Einsatz von Atemschutzgeräten erforderlich ist, besteht oft gleichzeitig
Explosionsgefahr. Wenn das der Fall ist, müssen die entsprechenden Vorschriften
genau befolgt werden.
Bei Bartträgern (Vollbart oder kräftiger Backenbart) ist mit der RSG HALF MASK
möglicherweise keine befriedigende Dichtigkeit zum Gesicht hin zu erreichen. Das gilt
auch, wenn Brillenbügel der Dichtung im Wege sind. n diesen Fällen geht der Benutzer
ein Risiko für Gesundheitsschäden ein.
Verlassen Sie sofort den Arbeitsbereich, prüfen Sie die Maske und wechseln Sie
Ersatzteile aus, wenn.
1. Die Maske, Teile davon oder Filter beschädigt werden.
2. Schwierigkeiten mit dem Luftholen auftreten.
3. Schwindelgefühl oder Unwohlsein auftreten.
4. Verunreinigungen zu schmecken oder zu riechen sind sowie beim Auftreten von
Reizungen.
Es dürfen keinerlei technische Veränderungen an der RSG HALF MASK vorgenommen
werden.

1.Unten am RSG-Filter erkennt man eine
Markierung. Halten Sie den Filter so, daß
sich der Zeigefinger bei der Markierung
befindet.
2. Führen Sie den RSG-Filter mit dem
unteren Ende voran in den Filterhalter ein.
Wenn der Zeigefinger (zusammen mit der
Markierung) auf den Pfeil an der
Vorderseite der Halbmaske weist, passen
Filterfassung und Filterhalter zusammen.
3. Drehen Sie nun den RSG-Filter in
Pfeilrichtung, bis es nicht mehr weiter
geht, dann ist der Filter korrekt eingesetzt.
Der gleiche Arbeitsgang gilt für auch das
Aufsetzen des zweiten Filters.
Es werden zwei gleichartige, für den jeweiligen Einsatz geeignete RSG-Filter montiert, bevor der
verunreinigte Arbeitsbereich betreten wird. Beim Filterwechsel werden beide RSG-Filter gleichzeitig
ausgetauscht.

AUFSETZEN DER RSG HALF MASK:
1. Die Maske wird mit einer Hand vor das Gesicht
gehalten und so aufgesetzt, daß Mund, Nase und
Kinn abgedeckt sind. Ziehen Sie danach die
Kopfbänder über den Kopf und achten Sie darauf,
daß das zweigeteilte Kopfband auf dem
Hinterkopf sitzt.
2. Nehmen Sie die unteren Riemen in beide Hände,
führen Sie diese in den Nacken, und schließen Sie
diese. .
3. Ziehen Sie die Kopfbänder und unteren Riemen
stramm, damit die Dichtigkeit gewährleistet ist.
Nun können Sie die Dichtigkeit der Maske prüfen,
ehe Sie den Arbeitsbereich betreten.
KONTROLLE VOR DEM EINSATZ:
Die RSG HALF MASK ist vor jedem Einsatz zu
kontrollieren, um zu gewährleisten, daß die
Halbmaske sauber und unbeschädigt ist. Es ist sehr
wichtig, daß vor jeder ngebrauchnahme eine
Maskendichtigkeitsprüfung (siehe unten)
durchgeführt wird.
MASKENDICHTIGKEITSPRÜFUNG:
Legen Sie die Handflächen (wenn das nicht reicht,
verwenden Sie Plastikfolie oder Kartonstücke) auf die
offenen Filterkammern. Atmen Sie leicht ein, und
halten Sie ca. 10 Sekunden lang die Luft an. Wenn die
Maske an das Gesicht gesaugt wird, ist sie richtig
angepaßt. Wird eine Undichtigkeit bemerkt, werden
die Kopfbänder stärker angezogen, um Dichtigkeit zu
erreichen. Läßt sich die Maske dennoch nicht korrekt
anpassen, ist eine ins Einzelne gehende Kontrolle der
Teile erforderlich. Denken Sie daran, daß die richtige
Maskengröße für eine richtige Anpassung
ausschlaggebend sein kann.

REINIGUNG:
Eine Reinigung wird nach jedem Einsatz empfohlen. Reinigen Sie daher die Maske und
die anderen Teile (die Filter ausgenommen) in lauwarmem Wasser unter Zusatz eines
milden Waschmittels gereinigt, (z.B. Geschirrspülmittel oder flüssiges Waschmittel),
soweit diese kein Perborat enthalten. st die Maske stark verschmutzt, läßt sich zur
Reinigung eine Bürste verwenden. Es dürfen keine Lösungsmittel (z.B. Benzin oder
Brennspiritus) oder heißes Wasser (>60°C) verwendet werden. Die Maske wird danach
gründlich unter laufendem, lauwarmen Wasser abgespült (s. Tabelle 3, Seite 17).
DESINFEKTION:
Desinfizieren Sie die Maskenteile nach jedem Einsatz in einer geeigneten Lösung.
Benutzen Sie z.b. die Desinfektionsflüssigkeit “MULT DOR”. Befolgen Sie sorgfältig die
Gebrauchsanweisung (s. Tabelle 3, Seite 17).
TROCKNEN:
Die RSG HALF MASK läßt man an der Luft oder in einem Trockenschrank trocknen,
und zwar bei Temperaturen, die 60°C nicht überschreiten. Nicht dem direkten
Sonnenlicht aussetzen.
AUFBEWAHRUNG:
Bewahren Sie die RSG HALF MASK in einer licht- und luftdichten Verpackung an einem
kühlen und trockenen Ort auf.
BITTE BEACHTEN!
Silikon neigt dazu, Reinigungs- und Desinfektionsmittel aufzunehmen, und das
kann Ursache für eine Hautreizung sein.
Daher:
1. Beschränken Sie die Einwirkzeit solcher Mittel, die in der
Gebrauchsanweisung angegeben sind, auf ein Minimum.
2. Spülen Sie 10 Minuten mit laufendem Wasser nach, sowohl nach der
Reinigung als auch nach der Desinfektion der RSG HALF MASK 30 01 01.

ERHALTUNG:
Alle Teile der Maske, besonders die Membran des Ausatemventils und der Ventilsitz,
müssen vor dem Einsatz kontrolliert werden. Ein funktionierendes Ausatemventil und
Membran sind für die richtige Funktion ebenso wichtig wie der rechtzeitige Austausch
der Filter.
Kontrolle / Auswechseln der Membran des Ausatemventils:
Öffnen Sie die deckel des Ausatemventils. Entfernen Sie die Membran, indem sie diese
an der Kante fassen und vorsichtig herausziehen. Der Ventilsitz muß sauber und
unbeschädigt sein. st die Membran verformt, gerissen oder auf andere Weise
beschädigt, ist sie durch eine neue Original-RSG-Membran zu ersetzen (siehe Tabelle
3, Seite 17).
NUMERIERUNG VON KOMPONENTEN:
Komponenten, die eine besondere Bedeutung für die Sicherheit haben, sind
gekennzeichnet, so daß sie leicht erkennbar sind (s. Tabelle 4, Seite 17).

Om een goed en effectief gebruik van het RSG halfgelaatsmasker te bereiken is het
belangrijk deze instructies goed te lezen en op te volgen.
Voor onderhoud en reparatie van het RSG halfgelaatsmasker mogen alleen RSG
reserveonderdelen gebruikt worden.
RSG SAFETY B.V. adviseert dat het reguliere onderhoud wordt uitgevoerd door goed
ge?nstrueerd personeel. Grote ingrijpende reparaties moeten uitgevoerd worden door
de technische afdeling van RSG SAFETY B.V.
RSG SAFETY B.V. kan niet aansprakelijk gesteld worden voor reparaties die niet
uitgevoerd zijn door de technische dienst van RSG SAFETY B.V.
