Assembly Instructions
Rutland Premium Pergola

Before you commence the assembly process, we recommend that you read these instructions thoroughly beforehand to
familiarise yourself with the assembly process and to also check that you have the correct components. If for any reason you
need assistance, you can find our contact details on the final page of these instructions.
We highly recommend that any assembly is carried out on an open flat, level surface if possible, with sufficient space. You
will also require the assistance of up to 2 adults to complete assembly safely.
Please note: For a free-standing pergola you can remove up to 600mm from the bottom of each post prior to commencing construction

Check that you have the correct components as
shown in the package contents, including any fixings.
Note: Your pergola can be shorter than standard by
removing the appropriate amount from the bottom
of each post.
Now lay out the 4 posts and 2 runners in the area
where the pergola is to stand as shown. Try to space
the feet of the posts apart by approximately the
length of one rafter.

Slide the runner into the post, making sure the pre-
drilled hole is uppermost ,the slots in the post and
runner are perfectly aligned and that the post is at
90° to the runner. Secure the post in place with an
65mm screw.
Now add the brace, butting it up against the post and
runner as shown...

...aligning it centrally against the underside of the
runner...
...and centrally on the post before securing into place
with a 100mm coach screw at each end of the brace.

Repeat steps 4 -7 for the remaining 3 posts.
For a six post version line up the intermediate post
with the mid-point pencil lines on the runner, slot
into place, ensuring it is at 90° to the runner and fix in
place with 2 x 65mm screws. Attach a brace either
side of the post as before. Repeat these steps for the
other runner.

Using you assistants, lift the assembled frames into
the vertical position as shown.
Drop the first rafter into position into the slots at
each end of the posts/runners, adjusting the
positioning of the frames if necessary. If the joint is
tight you can use a mallet or hammer with wood
block to gently tap the rafter down into place.

Add the second rafter to the other end of the frames
in the same fashion as before.
Now add the Pedestal panels to the bottom of each
post as shown. Line up each panel on the post so that
it is flush with the bottom face and secure each one
into place with 4 x 65mm screws.

Secure each corner with a 200m coach screw down
through the rafter and runner into the post.
Add the remaining 4 braces using the same method
as before...

...aligning them again the post and underside of the
rafter...
...and fixing in place with a 100mm coach screw at
each end of the brace.

Now add the remaining rafters, slotting each one into
place...
...until the assembly is complete.

Secure each rafter with a 120mm coach screw down
through the rafter into the runner at each end.
Your Rutland Premium Pergola is now complete.
