GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING:
Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow
all instructions listed below may result in electric shock,
fire and/or carbon monoxide poisoning which will cause

For safe operation, read and understand all instructions
before using this product. Follow all safety instructions.
Failure to follow all safety instructions listed below, can
result in serious personal injury.
Do not allow children or untrained individuals to use this
unit.
Never start or run the engine inside a closed area; breath-
ing exhaust fumes can kill.
Wear eyeprotectionwhichis marked tocomply with ANSI
Z87.1 as well as hearing protection when operating this
equipment.
Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 feet
away.
A battery operated tool with integral batteries or a
separate battery pack must be recharged only with the
specified charger for the battery. A charger that may be
suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire
when used with another battery.
Use battery operated tool only with specifically designated
battery pack. Use of any other batteries may create a risk
of fire.
Use battery only with charger listed.

Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves. Do not wear
loose fitting clothing, short pants, jewelry of any kind, or
go barefoot.
Heavy protective clothing may increase operator fatigue,
which could lead to heat stroke. During weather that is
hot and humid, heavy work should be scheduled for early
morning or late afternoon hours when temperatures are
cooler.
To reduce the risk of injury associated with objects being
drawn into rotating parts, do not wear loose clothing,
scarves, neck chains, and the like. Secure long hair so it
is above shoulder level to prevent entanglement in any
rotating parts.
Do not operate this unit when you are tired, ill, or under
the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
Do not operate in poor lighting.
Keep all parts of your body away from any moving parts
and all hot surfaces of the unit.
Wear a face filter mask in dusty conditions to reduce the
risk of injury associated with the inhalation of dust.
Check the work area before each use. Remove all ob-
jects such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, or loose
string which can be thrown or become entangled in the
machine.
Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach. Over-
reaching can result in loss of balance or exposure to hot
surfaces.

Never operate the unit without a spark arrestor screen;
this screen is located inside the muffler.
Product users on United States Forest Service land, and
in some states, must comply with fire prevention regula-
tions. This product is equipped with a spark arrestor;
however, other user requirements may apply. Check with
the federal, state, or local authorities in your area.
Before storing, allow the engine to cool.
Use only identical manufacturer’s replacement parts and
accessories.Failureto dosomaycausepoorperformance
or possible injury.
Inspect the unit before each use for loose fasteners, fuel
leaks, etc. Replace damaged parts.
Do not touch area around the muffler or cylinder of the
unit, these parts get hot from operation.
It has been reported that vibrations from hand-held tools
maycontribute toacondition calledRaynaud’sSyndrome
in certain individuals. Symptoms may include tingling,
numbness, and blanching of the fingers, usually apparent
upon exposure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure to
cold and dampness, diet, smoking, and work practices
are all thought to contribute to the development of these
symptoms. It is presently unknown what, if any, vibrations
or extent of exposure may contribute to the condition.
There are measures that can be taken by the operator to
possibly reduce the effects of vibration:
a) Keepyour bodywarm incold weather. When operating
the unit wear gloves to keep hands and wrists warm.
It is reported that cold weather is a major factor con-
tributing to Raynaud’s Syndrome.
b) After each period of operation, exercise to increase
blood circulation.
c) Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of
exposure per day.
d) Keep the tool well maintained, fasteners tightened,
and worn parts replaced.
If you experience any of the symptoms of this condition,
immediatelydiscontinueuseandseeyourphysician about
these symptoms.

To reduce the risk of hearing loss associated with sound
level(s), hearing protection is required.
To reduce the risk of injury associated with contacting
rotating parts, stop the engine before installing or
removing attachments. Do not operate without guard(s)
in place. Always disconnect the spark plug before
performing maintenance or accessing any movable
parts.
Do not point the blower nozzle in the direction of people
or pets.
Never run the unit without the blower tubes installed.
Never place objects inside the blower tubes.
Never use for spreading chemicals, fertilizers, toxic sub-
stances, or any other hazardous chemical.
Always hold the blower in your right hand. Refer to the
OPERATION section later in this manual for additional
information.
Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not
use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped or
received a sharp blow. A damaged battery is subject to
explosion. Properly dispose of a dropped or damaged
battery immediately.
Batteries can explode in the presence of a source
of ignition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, never use any cordless product
in the presence of open flame. An exploded battery can
propel debris and chemicals. If exposed, flush with water
immediately.
Do not charge battery tool in a damp or wet location.
Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock.
For best results, your battery tool should be charged
in a location where the temperature is more than
50°F but less than 100°F. To reduce the risk of serious
personal injury, do not store outside or in vehicles.
Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery
leakagemayoccur.Ifliquidcomesincontactwithyourskin,
wash immediately with soap and water, then neutralize

with lemon juice or vinegar. If liquid gets into your eyes,
flush them with clean water for at least 10 minutes, then
seek immediate medical attention. Following this rule will
reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
REFUELING
Fuel is highly flammable. Take precautions when using
to reduce the chance of serious personal injury.
Empty fuel tank into a container approved for gasoline
and restrain the unit from moving before transporting in
a vehicle.
To reduce the risk of fire and burn injury, handle fuel with
care. It is highly flammable.

Do not smoke while handling fuel.
Mix and store fuel in a container approved for gasoline.
Mix fuel outdoors where there are no sparks or flames.
Select bare ground, stop engine, and allow to cool before
refueling.
Loosen fuel cap slowly to release pressure and to keep
fuel from escaping around the cap.
Tighten the fuel cap securely after refueling.
Wipe spilled fuel from the unit. Move 30 feet away from
refueling site before starting engine.
Never attempt to burn off spilled fuel under any
circumstances.
Store fuel in a cool, well-ventilated area, safely away from
spark and/or flame-producing equipment.
Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this
purpose.
Only refuel outdoors and do not smoke while refueling.
Add fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the cap
of the fuel tank or add fuel while the engine is running or
when the engine is hot.
If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine but
move the machine away from the area of spillage and
avoid creating any source of ignition until fuel vapors

Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, shut off the
engine and make certain all moving parts have stopped.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, and keep the wire away
from the plug to prevent starting.
Service on the product must be performed by qualified
repair personnel only. Service or maintenance performed

by unqualified personnel could result in injury to the user
or damage to the product.
Maintain the unit per maintenance instructions in this
operator’s manual.
Use only identical replacement parts when servicing the
product. Use of unauthorized parts may create a risk of
serious injury to the user, or damage to the product.

The operation of any power tool can result in foreign objects being thrown into your eyes, which can re-
sult in severe eye damage. Before beginning power tool operation, always wear safety goggles or safety
glasses with side shields and, when needed, a full face shield. We recommend Wide Vision Safety Mask
for use over eyeglasses or standard safety glasses with side shields. Always use eye protection which is
marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.

KNOW YOUR BLOWER
See Figures 1 - 3.
The safe use of this product requires an understanding of
the information on the product and in this operator’s manual
as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting.
Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all op-
erating features and safety rules.
ADJUSTABLE HARNESS AND WAIST STRAPS
The blower comes with fully adjustable harness and waist
straps to ensure user comfort and ease of operation.
CHARGER
The charger has a key-hole hanging feature for convenient,
space-saving storage. Screws should be installed so that
the center distance is 4-1/8 in.
ELECTRIC START
The blower has an electric start which can be used in place
of the recoil starter.
ENGINE
The blower has a powerful 30cc engine with sufficient power
to handle tough jobs.
MESH BACKING
The blower comes equipped with a mesh backing which
aids in user comfort.
THROTTLE ARM
Easilyadjust thethrottlearm tothe desiredpositionby pulling
the arm down or pushing it up.
THROTTLE CONTROL
The blower can be operated at any speed between idle and
full throttle.
UNPACKING
This product requires assembly.
Carefully remove the product and any accessories from
the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list
are included.
Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage
or damage occurred during shipping.
Do not discard the packing material until you have care-
fully inspected and satisfactorily operated the product.

ASSEMBLY
WARNING:
If any parts are damaged or missing do not operate
this product until the parts are replaced. Failure to heed
this warning could result in serious personal injury.
WARNING:
Do not attempt to modify this product or create accesso-
ries not recommended for use with this product. Any such
alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a
hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal
injury.
WARNING:
To prevent accidental starting that could cause serious
personal injury, always disconnect the engine spark plug
wire from the spark plug when assembling parts.
WARNING:
Disconnect the spark plug wire before assembling parts.
Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal
injury.
ASSEMBLING THE BLOWER TUBES
See Figures 3 - 5.
Place a tube clamp in the groove on elbow and install the
elbow tube onto blower. Tighten large clamp securely.
Place clamp in the groove on the bellows and install the
bellows onto the elbow. Tighten clamp securely.
Insert upper tube into adjustable handle. Position the
adjustable handle in the center of upper tube and tighten
thumb screw securely.
NOTE: The position of the adjustable handle may be
moved for the best comfort after the blower is strapped
onto the operator’s back.
Placeclampinthegrooveonthebottomendofthebellows
andinstallthe upper tubeontothe bellows. Tightenclamp
securely.
Join the lower tube and nozzle together by aligning raised
locking tabs on lower tube with the raised locking slots
on nozzle and twist to secure.
Assemble the connected lower tube and nozzle to the
upper tubes by aligning raised locking tabs on the upper
tube with the raised locking slots on connected lower
tubes by twisting to secure.
NOTE: Check all locking connections to ensure they are
tightly secured.
CAUTION:
Make all adjustments to the harness straps before start-
ing the blower to avoid the possibility of injury.
ADJUSTING HARNESS AND WAIST STRAPS
Straps should be adjusted to a comfortable position before
starting the blower.
To adjust harness strap assembly:
Blower should be in operating position before adjusting
the harness straps. Slip arm through harness strap and
onto shoulder, then repeat for the other shoulder.
There are three possible height adjustment positions that
can be used to easily adjust harness.
Slip top buckle of harness from adjustment slot and
position to desired height location.
Tighten (pull down on strap) or loosen (lift up on tab of
strap buckle) each harness strap as needed, until each
is adjusted to a comfortable operating position.
Chest strap should be tightened or loosened until adjusted
to a comfortable operating position.
To adjust waist strap assembly:
Waist strap should be tightened or loosened until adjusted
to a comfortable operating position.
ADJUSTING ADJUSTABLE HANDLE
See Figure 6.
Loosen thumb screw by twisting counterclockwise.
Move adjustable handle to desired position and secure
screw by twisting clockwise.

WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with this product to make you
careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is
sufficient to inflict serious injury.

Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side
shields when operating power tools. Failure to do so
could result in objects being thrown into your eyes result-
ing in possible serious injury.

Do not use any attachments or accessories not recom-
mended by the manufacturer of this product. The use of
attachments or accessories not recommended can result
in serious personal injury.
APPLICATIONS
You may use this product for the purposes listed below:
Clear leaves and other debris from your lawn
Keeping decks and driveways free from grass clippings,
leaves, pine needles, and other debris
FUELING AND REFUELING THE BLOWER
FUEL MIXTURE
This product is powered by a 2-cycle engine and requires
pre-mixing gasoline and 2-cycle lubricant. Pre-mix unleaded
gasoline and 2-cycle engine lubricant in a clean 1 gallon
container approved for gasoline.
Recommended fuel: This engine is certified to operate on
unleaded gasoline intended for automotive use.
Mix a high quality 2-cycle engine lubricant at 2.6 oz. per
gallon (US).
Do not use automotive lubricant or 2-cycle outboard
lubricant.
DO NOT mix quantities larger than usable in a 30 day
period.

OPERATION
FILLING TANK
Clean surface around fuel cap to prevent contam-
ination.
Loosen fuel cap slowly. Rest the cap on a clean
surface.
Carefully pour fuel into the tank. Avoid spillage.
Prior to replacing the fuel cap, clean and inspect the
gasket.
Immediately replace fuel cap and hand tighten. Wipe up
any fuel spillage.
NOTE: It is normal for smoke to be emitted from a new
engine after first use.
WARNING:
Always shut off engine before fueling. Never add fuel to
a machine with a running or hot engine. Move at least
30 ft. from refueling site before starting engine. Do not
smoke! Failure to heed this warning could result in seri-
ous personal injury.
OXYGENATED FUELS
Some conventional gasolines are blended with alcohol or an
ether compound. These gasolines are collectively referred
to as oxygenated fuels. To meet clean air standards, some
areas of the United States and Canada use oxygenated fuels
to help reduce emissions.
If using an oxygenated fuel, make sure it is unleaded and
meets the minimum octane rating requirements. Before using
an oxygenated fuel, try to confirm the fuel’s contents. Some
states/provinces require this information to be posted on the
pump. The following are the EPA approved percentages of
oxygenates:
Ethanol (ethyl or grain alcohol) 10% by volume. You
may use gasoline containing up to 10% ethanol by volume.
Gasoline containing ethanol may be marketed under the
name “Gasohol.” Do not use E85 fuel.
MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) 15% by volume. You
may use gasoline containing up to 15% MTBE by volume.
Methanol (methyl or wood alcohol) 5% by volume. You
may use gasoline containing up to 5% methanol by volume
as long as it also contains cosolvents and corrosion inhibi-
tors to protect the fuel system. Gasoline containing more
than 5% methanol by volume may cause starting and/or
performance problems. It may also damage metal, rubber,
and plastic parts of the product or your fuel system.
If you notice any undesirable operating symptoms, try anoth-
er service station or switch to another brand of gasoline.
NOTE: Fuel system damage or performance problems re-
sulting from the use of an oxygenated fuel containing more
than the percentages of oxygenates stated previously are
not covered under warranty.

OPERATION
CAUTION:
If at any point during the charging process none of the
LEDs are lit, remove the battery pack from the charger
to avoid damaging the product. DO NOT insert another
battery. Return the charger and battery to your nearest
service center for service or replacement.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
See Figure 7.
The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low
charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore,
you should charge overnight prior to use.
NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they
are charged. Allow several cycles (operation followed by
recharging) for them to become fully charged.
Charge battery pack only with the charging assembly
provided.
Make sure power supply is normal household voltage,
120 V, AC only, 60 Hz.
Connect charger to power supply.
Place battery pack in charging stand. Align raised rib
on battery pack with groove in charging stand.
Pressdown onbatterypack tobe surecontactson battery
pack engage properly with contacts in charging stand.
The charge indicator light (LED), located on the charging
stand, will light up red and glow when the charger
is properly connected to power supply. This light
indicates the charger is operating properly. It will remain
on until battery pack is removed from charging stand or
charger is disconnected from power supply.
After normal usage, 3 hours or less of charging time is
required to fully recharge battery pack.
If both red and orange LED indicators glow, the
battery pack is deeply or completely discharged, and
6 hours or longer of charging time is required to fully
recharge battery pack.
NOTE: If charger does not charge battery pack or orange
LED continues to glow after more than 30 minutes of
charging, return battery pack and charging assembly to
yournearestRyobi AuthorizedService Centerfor electrical
check.
The battery pack will become slightly warm to the touch
while charging. This is normal and does not indicate a
problem.
Do not place charger in an area of extreme heat or cold.
It will work best at normal room temperature.
When batteries become fully charged, unplug charger
from power supply and remove the battery pack.
CHARGING A HOT BATTERY PACK
When using the tool continuously, the batteries in the
battery pack will become hot. You should let a hot battery
pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before
attempting to recharge.
NOTE: This situation only occurs when continuous use of
the product causes the batteries to become hot. It does not
occur under normal circumstances. Refer to CHARGING
THE BATTERY PACK for normal recharging of batteries.
If the charging assembly does not charge the battery pack
under normal circumstances, return both the battery pack
and charging assembly to your nearest Ryobi Authorized
Service Center for electrical check.
TO INSTALL BATTERY PACK
See Figure 8.
Place the battery pack in the product. Align raised rib on
battery pack with groove in product’s battery port.
Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack
snap in place and that battery pack is secured in product
before beginning operation.
TO REMOVE BATTERY PACK
Locate latches on side of battery pack and depress both
sides to release battery pack from the product.
Remove battery pack from the product.

OPERATION
STARTING AND STOPPING
See Figures 9 - 11.
When starting the product for the first time or when the bat-
tery voltage is low, it may be necessary to manually start
this product.
FOR ELECTRIC START:
To start a cold engine:
DO NOT engage the throttle until the engine starts and
runs.
Lay the product on a flat, bare surface.
PRIME - Press the primer bulb 7 times.
SET the start lever to the START position.
PRESS ignition switch.
Push the throttle to run.
NOTE: Engaging and releasing the throttle releases the start
lever to the RUN position.
To start a warm engine:
PRESS ignition switch.
To stop the engine:
Press and hold the switch in the stop “ ” position until
the engine stops.
FOR MANUAL START:
To start a cold engine:
DO NOT engage the throttle until the engine starts and
runs.
Lay the product on a flat, bare surface.

PULL the recoil starter until the engine starts.

OPERATING THE BLOWER
See Figure 12.
Slip arm through harness strap and onto shoulder, then
repeat for the other shoulder. Adjust the straps to a
comfortableposition. RefertoAdjustingHarness Straps
earlier in this manual. Remove unit for starting.
Start the blower. Refer to Starting and Stopping earlier
in this manual.
Put on the blower again. The unit should be operated on
the operator’s right side as shown.
To keep from scattering debris, blow around the outer
edges of a debris pile. Never blow directly into the center
of a pile.
Operate power equipment at reasonable hours only —
not early in the morning or late at night when people
might be disturbed. Comply with the times listed in local
ordinances.
To reduce sound levels, limit the number of pieces of
equipment used at any one time.
Operate blower at the lowest possible throttle speed to
do the job.
Check your equipment before operation, especially the
muffler, air intakes, and air filters.
Use rakes and brooms to loosen debris before blowing.
In dusty conditions, slightly dampen surfaces when water
is available.
Conserve water by using power blowers instead of hoses
for many lawn and garden applications, including areas
such as gutters, screens, patios, grills, porches, and
gardens.
Watch out for children, pets, open windows, or freshly
washed cars, and blow debris safely away.
Use the wide sweeper nozzle for larger volume, so the
air stream can work close to the ground.
After using blowers or other equipment, CLEAN UP!
Dispose of debris properly.
CAUTION:
Do not place blower on top of or near loose debris.
Debris may be sucked into blower intake vent resulting
in possible damage to the unit.

MAINTENANCE
WARNING:
When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause
product damage.
WARNING:
Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side
shields during tool operation. If operation is dusty, also
wear a dust mask.
WARNING:
Before inspecting, cleaning, troubleshooting, or servicing
the machine, shut off engine, wait for all moving parts to
stop, and disconnect spark plug wire and move it away
from spark plug. Failure to follow these instructions can
result in serious personal injury or property damage.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, lubricant, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-
based products, penetrating lubricants, etc., come in con-
tact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or
destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to be
repaired or replaced by the customer. All other parts should
be replaced at an Authorized Service Center.
LUBRICATION
All of the bearings in this tool are lubricated with a sufficient
amount of high grade lubricant for the life of the unit under
normal operating conditions. Therefore, no further lubrica-
tion is required.
SPARK PLUG
This engine uses a Champion RCJ6Y or equivalent spark
plug with .025 in. electrode gap. Use an exact replacement
and replace annually, or more frequently if necessary.
WARNING:
Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug. Cross-
threading will seriously damage the product.
CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND
MUFFLER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type and amount
of lubricant used, and/or your operating conditions, the
exhaust port and muffler may become blocked with carbon
deposits. If you notice a power loss with your gas powered
tool, you may need to remove these deposits to restore
performance. We highly recommended that only qualified
service technicians perform this service.
SPARK ARRESTOR
The spark arrestor must be replaced every 25 hours or
yearly to ensure proper performance of the product. Spark
arrestors may be in different locations depending on the
model purchased. Please contact the nearest service dealer
for servicing your spark arrestor.
WARNING:
Never run the blower without the spark arrestor in place.
Failure to do so could result in a fire that could cause
serious personal injury.
FUEL CAP
WARNING:
A leaking fuel cap is a fire hazard and must be replaced
immediately. Failure to do so could result in a fire that
could cause serious personal injury.
The fuel cap contains a non-serviceable filter and a check
valve. A clogged fuel filter will cause poor engine per-
formance. If performance improves when the fuel cap is
loosened, the check valve may be faulty or filter clogged.
Replace the fuel cap if required.
STORING THE PRODUCT
Clean all foreign material from the product. Store it in a
well-ventilatedplace thatisinaccessible tochildren.Keep
away from corrosive agents such as garden chemicals
and de-icing salts.
Abide by all Federal and local regulations for the safe
storage and handling of gasoline.
When storing 1 month or longer:
Drain all fuel from tank into a container approved for
gasoline. Run engine until it stops.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Starter rope pulls harder now than when

Check spark. Remove spark plug. Reattach
the spark plug cap and lay spark plug on
metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and
watch for spark at spark plug tip. If there
is no spark, repeat test with a new spark
plug.
Push primer bulb until bulb is full of fuel.
If bulb does not fill, primary fuel delivery
system is blocked. Contact a servicing
dealer. If primer bulb fills, engine may be
flooded, proceed to next item.
Remove spark plug, turn unit so spark plug
hole is aimed at the ground. Rotate the
choke dial to “RUN” position and pull starter
cord 10 to 15 times. This will clear excess
fuel from engine. Clean and reinstall spark
plug. Pull starter three times with choke dial
at “RUN”. If engine does not start, rotate
choke dial to “FULL CHOKE” position and
repeat normal starting procedure. If engine
still fails to start, repeat procedure with a
new spark plug.
Contact a servicing dealer.
Engine starts but will not accelerate. Engine requires approximately three
minutes to warm up. Allow engine to completely warm up. If engine does not accelerate after three
minutes, contact a servicing dealer.
Engine starts but will only run at high speed
at half choke. Carburetor requires adjustment. Contact a servicing dealer.
Engine does not reach full speed and emits
excessive smoke. Check lubricant fuel mixture.
Air filter is dirty.
Spark arrestor screen is dirty.
Use fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle
lubricant mix.
Clean air filter. Refer to Cleaning the Air
Filter Screen earlier in this manual.
Contact a servicing dealer.
Engine starts, runs, and accelerates but
will not idle. Idle speed screw on carburetor needs adjustment. Turn idle speed screw clockwise to increase idle speed. See figure 12.

Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., warrants to the
original retail purchaser that this RYOBI®brand outdoor
product is free from defect in material and workmanship
and agrees to repair or replace, at Techtronic Industries
North America, Inc.’s, discretion, any defective product
free of charge within these time periods from the date of
purchase.
Three years if the product is used for personal, family
or household use;
90 days, if used for any other purpose, such as
commercial or rental.
This warranty extends to the original retail purchaser
only and commences on the date of the original retail
purchase.
Any part of this product found in the reasonable judgment
of Techtronic Industries North America, Inc. to be defective
in material or workmanship will be repaired or replaced
without charge for parts and labor by an authorized service
center for RYOBI®brand outdoor products (Authorized
Ryobi Service Center).

WARRANTY
THE FOLLOWING CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD (CARB) STATEMENT ONLY APPLIES TO MODEL NUMBERS
REQUIRED TO MEET THE CARB REQUIREMENTS.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Air Resources Board
(CARB), and Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., are pleased to explain the
Emissions Control System Warranty on your 2009 model year non-road or small off-
road engine. In California, new equipment that uses small off-road engines must be
designed, built, and equipped to meet the state’s stringent anti-smog standards. In
other states, new 2000 and later model year non-road engines must be designed,
built, and equipped at the time of sale to meet the U.S. EPA regulations for small
non-road engines. The non-road engine must be free from defects in materials and
workmanship which cause it to fail to conform with U.S. EPA standards for the first
two years of engine use from the date of sale to the ultimate purchaser. Techtronic
Industries North America, Inc., must warrant the emission control system on your
non-road or small off-road engine for the period of time listed above provided there
has been no abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of your non-road or small
off-road engine.
Your emission control system may include parts such as the carburetor or fuel injection
system, the ignition system, catalytic converters, fuel tanks, valves, filters, clamps,
connectors, and other associated components. Also included may be hoses, belts
and connectors, and other emission-related assemblies.
Where a warrantable condition exists, Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., will
repair your non-road or small off-road engine at no cost to you, including diagno-
sis, parts, and labor performed at an authorized service center for RYOBI®brand
outdoor products.
MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
This product’s emissions control system is warranted for two years. If any emission-
related part on your engine is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by
Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., free of charge.
OWNER’S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) As the non-road or small off-road engine owner, you are responsible for
the performance of the required maintenance listed in your operator’s manual.
Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., recommends that you retain all re-
ceipts covering maintenance on your non-road or small off-road engine, but
Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., cannot deny warranty solely for the
lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the performance of all scheduled
maintenance. Any replacement part or service that is equivalent in performance
and durability may be used in non-warranty maintenance or repairs, and shall
not reduce the warranty obligations of Techtronic Industries North America, Inc.
(b) As the non-road or small off-road engine owner, you should be aware, however,
that Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., may deny you warranty coverage if
your non-road or small off-road engine or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect,
improper maintenance, or unapproved modifications.
(c) You are responsible for presenting your non-road or small off-road engine to an
authorized service dealer as soon as a problem exists. The warranty repairs should
be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days.

DEFECT WARRANTY COVERAGE REQUIREMENTS:
(a) The warranty period begins on the date the engine or equipment is delivered to
an ultimate purchaser.
(b) General Emissions Warranty Coverage. Techtronic Industries North America,
Inc., warrants to the ultimate purchaser and each subsequent purchaser that your
non-road or small off-road engine is designed, built, and equipped at the time of sale
to conform with all applicable regulations adopted by the California Air Resources
Board or the United States Environmental Protection Agency; and that it is free from
defects in materials and workmanship which cause the engine to fail to conform with
applicable regulations for a period of two years from the date the non-road or small
off-road engine is purchased by the initial purchaser.
(c) The warranty on emissions-related parts will be interpreted as follows: Any
warranted part that is not scheduled for replacement as required in the Emissions
Maintenance Schedule and Warranty Parts List set forth below is warranted for two
years. If any such part (including any part that is scheduled only for regular inspection)
fails during the period of warranty coverage, it will be repaired or replaced at any
RYOBI®Authorized Service Center at no charge. Any such part repaired or replaced
under warranty will be warranted for the remaining warranty period. A statement to
the effect of “repair or replace as necessary” would not reduce the period of war-
ranty coverage. Any warranted part that is scheduled for replacement as required
maintenance in the Emissions Maintenance Schedule and Warranty Parts List is
warranted for the period of time prior to the first scheduled replacement point for
that part. Any such part repaired or replaced under warranty is warranted for the
remainder of the period prior to the first scheduled replacement point, and will be
repaired or replaced at any RYOBI®Authorized Service Center for no charge until
that replacement point is reached.
Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., shall remedy warranty defects at any
authorized RYOBI®Authorized Service Center, including any distribution center
that may be franchised to service the subject engines. Any diagnostic work done
at a RYOBI®Authorized Service Center shall be free of charge to the owner if such
work determines that a warranted part is defective. Any manufacturer-approved or
equivalent replacement part may be used for any warranty maintenance or repairs
on emission-related parts, and must be provided free of charge to the owner if the
part is still under warranty. Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., is liable for
damages to other engine components caused by the failure of a warranted part
still under warranty.
Add-on or modified parts that are not exempted by the California Air Resource Board
may not be used. The use of any non-exempted add-on or modified parts will be
grounds for disallowing a warranty claim. Techtronic Industries North America, Inc.,
will not be liable to warrant failures of warranted parts caused by the use of a non-
exempted add-on or modified part.
The California Air Resources Board’s Emission Warranty Parts List specifically defines
the emission-related warranted parts. (EPA’s regulations do not include a parts list,
but the EPA considers emission-related warranted parts to include all the parts listed
below.) Techtronic Industries North America, Inc., will provide any documents that
describe its warranty procedures or policies within five days upon request by the
California Air Resources Board.
EMISSIONS PARTS LIST
Emissions parts vary from product to product. Your emissions control system warranty
applies to any of the following components that may be included on your product:
(1) Fuel Metering System
(i) Carburetor and internal parts (and/or pressure regulator or fuel injection
system).
(ii) Air/fuel ratio feedback and control system.
(iii) Cold start enrichment system.
(iv) Fuel Tank.
(2) Air Induction System
(i) Controlled hot air intake system.
(ii) Intake manifold.
(iii) Air filter.
(3) Ignition System
(i) Spark Plugs.
(ii) Magneto or electronic ignition system.
(iii) Spark advance/retard system.
(4) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System
(i) EGR valve body and carburetor spacer, if applicable.
(ii) EGR rate feedback and control system.
(5) Air Injection System
(i) Air pump or pulse valve.
(ii) Valves affecting distribution of flow.
(iii) Distribution manifold.

The Emissions Compliance Period referred to on the Emissions Compliance label
indicates the number of operating hours for which the engine has been shown to
meet Federal emission requirements. Category C=50 hours, B=125 hours, and
A=300 hours.

LIRE TOUTES LES INSTRUCTIONS
Pour travailler en toute sécurité, lire et veiller à bien
comprendre toutes les instructions avant d’utiliser ce
produit. Respecter toutes les instructions de sécurité.
Le non respect des instructions de sécurité ci-dessous
peut entraîner des blessures graves.
Ne pas laisser des enfants ou personnes n’ayant pas
reçu une formation adéquate utiliser cet outil.
Ne jamais lancer ou faire tourner le moteur dans un en-
droit clos. Les gaz d’échappement peuvent être mortels.
Porter une protection oculaire certifiée conforme à la
norme ANSI Z87.1, ainsi qu’une protection auditive lors
de l’utilisation de cet outil.
Garder les badauds, enfants et visiteurs à une distance
de 15 m (50 pi).
Les batteries d’outils électriques, qu’elles soient inté-
grées ou amovibles, ne doivent être rechargées qu’avec
l’appareil spécifié. Un chargeur approprié pour un type
de batterie peut créer un risque d’incendie s’il est utilisé
avec un autre type de batterie.
Utiliser exclusivement le bloc de batterie spécifiquement
indiqué pour l’outil. L’usage de tout autre bloc peut créer
un risque d’incendie.
Ne recharger les batteries qu’avec l’appareil indiqué.

Porter des pantalons longs, des chaussures de travail et des
gants épais. Ne pas porter de vêtements amples, shorts,
bijoux quels qu’ils soient et ne pas travailler pieds nus.
Le fait de porter des vêtements de protection lourds
peut augmenter la fatigue de l’utilisateur, ce qui pour-
rait entraîner un coup de chaleur. Si le temps est chaud
et humide, effectuer les gros travaux le matin ou en fin
d’après-midi, alors qu’il fait plus frais.
Pour réduire les risques de happement par les pièces
en mouvement, ne pas porter de vêtements amples,
foulards, colliers ou autres articles de même nature. At-
tacher les cheveux longs pour les maintenir au-dessus
des épaules, afin qu’ils ne se prennent pas dans les
pièces en mouvement.
Ne pas utiliser cet outil en état de fatigue, si l’on est
souffrant ou sous l’influence de l’alcool, de drogues ou
de médicaments.
Ne pas travailler sous un éclairage insuffisant.
Garder toutes les parties du corps à l’écart des pièces
en mouvement et des parties brûlantes de l’outil.
Porter un masque facial filtrant dans les milieux
poussiéreux afin de réduire le risque de lésions lié à
l’inhalation de poussière.
Examiner la zone de travail avant chaque utilisation. La
débarrasser de tous les objets tels que cailloux, verre
brisé, clous, fils métalliques, cordes, etc. risquant d’être
projetés ou de se prendre dans la machine.
Se tenir bien campé et en équilibre. Ne pas travailler hors
de portée. Le travail hors de portée risque de faire perdre
l’équilibreoude causer uncontact avec lespiècesbrûlantes.
Ne jamais utiliser l’outil sans le pare-étincelles, qui se
trouve dans le silencieux.

Les produits utilisés sur les territoires des services for-
estiers des États-Unis et de certains états doivent être
conformes aux réglementations de lutte contre l’incendie.
Cet outil est doté d’un pare-étincelles, toutefois, d’autres
dispositifs peuvent être requis. Consulter les autorités
locales et gouvernementales.
Laisser le moteur refroidir avant de remiser l’outil.
Utiliser exclusivement des pièces de rechange et acces-
soire d’origine. Ne pas suivre cette recommandation peut
entraîner un mauvais fonctionnement et des blessures.
Inspecter l’outil avant chaque utilisation pour s’assurer
qu’il n’y a pas de pièces desserrées, de fuites de car-
burant, etc. Remplacer les pièces endommagées.
Ne pas toucher les alentours de l’échappement ou du
cylindre, qui deviennent brûlants pendant l’utilisation.
Il a été rapporté que, chez certaines personnes, les vibra-
tions produites par les outils à main motorisés peuvent
contribuer au développement d’une affection appelée
syndrome de Raynaud. Les symptômes peuvent inclure
des picotements, l’insensibilisation et le blanchisse-
ment des doigts et sont habituellement provoqués par
l’exposition au froid. L’hérédité, l’exposition au froid et à
l’humidité, le régime alimentaire, la fumée et les habitudes
de travail sont tous des facteurs considérés comme con-
tribuant au développement de ces symptômes. Il n’existe
actuellement aucune preuve qu’un certain type de vibra-
tion ou le degré d’exposition contribue réellement au
développement de cette affectation. Certaines mesures,
susceptibles de réduire les effets des vibrations, peuvent
être prises par l’opérateur :
a) Garder le corps au chaud par temps froid. Pendant
l’utilisation, porter des gants afin de tenir les mains et les
poignets au chaud. Il a été établi que le froid est l’une des
principales causes du symptôme de Raynaud.
b) Après chaque période d’utilisation, faire des exercices
pour accroître la circulation.
c) Faire des pauses fréquentes. Limiter la durée d’exposition
quotidienne.
d) Garder l’outil bien entretenu, toutes les pièces de boulon-
nerie serrées et remplacer les pièces usées.
En cas d’apparition de l’un ou plusieurs des symptômes
décrits ci-dessus, cesser d’utiliser l’outil et consulter un
médecin.

Pour réduire les risques de perte de l’ouïe causée par le
niveau sonore, porter une protection auditive.
Pour réduire les risques de blessures infligées par des
pièces en rotation, arrêter le moteur avant d’installer ou
de retirer des accessoires. Ne pas utiliser la machine sans
que tous les dispositifs de protection soient en place.
Toujours débrancher le fil de bougie avant de procéder à
un entretien ou d’accéder à des pièces en mouvement.
Ne pas diriger la soufflante vers une personne ou un
animal.
Ne jamais utiliser la soufflante sans les tubes installés.
Ne jamais rien insérer dans les tubes.
Ne jamais utiliser pour répandre des engrais, produits
chimiques, substances toxiques ou autres produits dan-
gereux.
Toujours tenir la soufflante avec la main droite. Voir UTILI-
SATION plus loin dans ce manuel, pour des informations
supplémentaires.
Ne pas écraser, faire tomber ou endommager le batter-
ies. Ne jamais utiliser un batteries ou un chargeur qui
est tombé, a été écrasé, a reçu un choc violent ou a été
endommagé de quelque façon que ce soit. Une batterie
endommagée risque d’exploser. Éliminer immédiatement
toute batterie endommagée, selon une méthode appro-
priée.
Les batteries dégagent de l’hydrogène et peuvent ex-
ploser en présence d’une source d’allumage, telle qu’une
veilleuse. Pour réduire les risques de blessures graves,
ne jamais utiliser un appareil sans fil, quel qu’il soit, en
présence d’une flamme vive. En explosant, une batterie
peut projeter des débris et des produits chimiques. En cas
d’exposition, rincer immédiatement les parties atteintes
avec de l’eau.
Ne pas recharger un outil fonctionnant sur batteries dans
un endroit humide ou mouillé. Le respect de cette règle
réduira les risques de choc électrique.
Pour un résultat optimal, le batteries de l’outil doivent
être rechargées dans un local où la température est de
10 à 38 °C (50 à 100 °F). Ne pas ranger l’outil à l’extérieur
ou dans un véhicule.
RÈGLES DE SÉCURITÉ PARTICULIÈRES
Si l’outil est utilisé de façon intensive ou sous des tem-
pératures extrêmes, des fuites de batterie peuvent se
produire. En cas de contact du liquide avec la peau,
rincer immédiatement la partie atteinte avec de l’eau
savonneuse, puis neutraliser avec du jus de citron ou du
vinaigre. En cas d’éclaboussure dans les yeux, les rincer
à l’eau fraîche pendant au moins 10 minutes, puis con-
tacter immédiatement un médecin. Le respect de cette
règle réduira les risques de blessures graves.
RAVITAILLEMENT EN CARBURANT
Le carburant est extrêmement inflammable. Lors de
l’utilisation, prendre les précautions nécessaires pour
réduire le risque de blessures graves.
Pour le transport dans un véhicule, vider le réservoir de
carburant dans un récipient approuvé pour l’essence et
la machine bien arrimée.
Manipuler le carburant avec précaution pour éviter les
risques d’incendies et de brûlures. Le carburant est ex-
trêmement inflammable.

Ne pas fumer pendant la manipulation du carburant.
Mélanger et conserver le carburant dans un bidon ou
jerrycan approuvé pour l’essence.
Mélanger le carburant à l’extérieur, loin de toute flamme
ou source d’étincelles.
Poser la machine sur un sol nu, arrêter le moteur et le
laisser refroidir avant de faire le plein.
Desserrer le bouchon du réservoir lentement pour relâcher
la pression et éviter que le carburant s’échappe.
Une fois le réservoir plein, remettre le bouchon en place
et le serrer fermement.
Essuyer tout le carburant éventuellement répandu.
S’éloigner de 9 m (30 pi) du point d’approvisionnement
avant de lancer le moteur.
N’essayer en aucun cas de brûler le carburant répandu.
Conserver le carburant dans une zone froide bien ventilée
à l’écart d’étincelles et / ou de matériels produisant des
flammes.
Conserver le carburant dans des jerrycans spécialement
conçus à cet effet.

DÉPANNAGE
Avant de nettoyer, réparer ou inspecter, arrêter le moteur
et vérifier que toutes les pièces en mouvement sont
immobilisées. Déconnecter le fil de bougie et le garder
à l’écart de la bougie afin d’empêcher un démarrage
accidentel.
Le dépannage de la produit doit exclusivement être confié
à un personnel qualifié. Les réparations ou entretiens
par des personnes non qualifiées peuvent entraîner des
blessures ou dommages à l’outil.
Entretenir l’outil conformément aux instructions de ce
manuel d’utilisation.
Utiliser exclusivement des pièces identiques à celles
d’origine pour les réparations. L’usage de pièces non
autorisées peut présenter des risques de blessures ou
de dommage pour l’outil.
