Do not operate the
RYOBI 40V
belt power supply if
it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or oth-
erwise damaged in any way. Take it to an authorized
serviceman for electrical check to determine if it is in
good working order.
Do not operate belt power supply with a damaged
cord or plug, which could cause shorting and electric
shock. If damaged, have the belt power supply replaced
by an authorized serviceman.
Do not disassemble RYOBI 40V belt power supply.
Take it to an authorized serviceman when service or repair
is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of
electric shock or fire.
Disconnect RYOBI 40V belt power supply and remove
battery packs before attempting any maintenance or
cleaning to reduce the risk of electric shock.
Disconnect RYOBI 40V belt power supply and remove
battery packs when not in use.
Risk of electric shock. Do not touch uninsulated por-
tion of output connector or uninsulated battery terminal.
Do not charge battery in a damp or wet location. Do
not use, store, or charge battery packs or products
in locations where the temperature is less than 50°F
or more than 100°F. Do not store outside or in vehicles.
Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and
use them to instruct others who may use this tool. If you
loan someone this tool, loan them these instructions also
to prevent misuse of the product and possible injury.
WARNING!
READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS. Fail-
ure to follow all instructions listed below, may result in
electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.
Before using the 40V belt power supply, read all in-
structions and cautionary markings in this manual, on the
belt power supply, adaptor and product using adaptor
to prevent misuse of the products and possible injury
or damage.
Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by
the product’s manufacturer may result in a risk of
fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. Following this
rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious
personal injury.
Keep RYOBI 40V belt power supply away from heat to
prevent damage to housing or internal parts.
Do not let gasoline, oils, petroleum-based products,
etc. come in contact with plastic parts. They contain
chemicals that can damage, weaken, or destroy plastic.
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked
to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result
in objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in pos-
sible serious injury.
Do not use the RYOBI 40V belt power supply if it has
been damaged, doing so could cause shorting and elec-
tric shock. If damaged, have the 40V belt power supply
replaced by an authorized serviceman.

The following signal words and meanings are intended to explain the levels of risk associated with this product.

ASSEMBLY
WARNING:
Do not use this product if it is not completely assembled
or if any parts appear to be missing or damaged. Use of
a product that is not properly and completely assembled
or with damaged or missing parts could result in serious
personal injury.
WARNING:
Do not attempt to modify this product or create acces-
sories or attachments not recommended for use with this
product. Any such alteration or modification is misuse
and could result in a hazardous condition leading to
possible serious personal injury.
FEATURES
KNOW YOUR BELT POWER SUPPLY
See Figure 1.
The safe use of this product requires an understanding of
the information on the tool and in this operator’s manual as
well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before
use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating
features and safety rules.
ADAPTOR
Use the adaptor to power approved RYOBI 40V tools and
products.
SHOULDER STRAPS
The belt power supply comes with fully adjustable shoulder
andwaiststrapsto ensureusercomfortand easeof operation.
ACTIVE BATTERY PORTS
The belt power supply has two active battery ports. Only one
battery pack needs to be installed for operation. If two bat-
tery packs are installed, each time a tool is turned on, it will
pull energy from the battery pack designated on the adaptor.
LED INDICATOR
The adaptor has a LED indicator to show the battery charge
based on the battery selected.
If any parts are damaged or missing, please call 1-800-525-2579 for assistance.
OPERATION
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with products to make you care-
less. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is
sufficient to inflict serious injury.

objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible
serious injury.
APPLICATIONS
You may use this product for the following purpose:
Supplying electrical power for operating compatible
RYOBI 40V tools
NOTE: Refer to the Compatible Ryobi 40V products and
Tool Categories section on page 6 for information on use
with 40V products.
ATTACHING THE SHOULDER STRAPS
See Figure 2.
Unbuckle the waist belt and position it flat with the bat-
tery ports facing up.
Attach the shoulder straps to the waist belt by hooking
the back adjustment straps to the waist belt using the
two center belt loops as shown.
Attach the front adjustable straps on the outer belt loops.

INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 3.
Attach a battery pack to the battery port by aligning the
raised ribs on the battery pack with the grooves in the bat-
tery port, then slide the battery pack onto the battery port.
Press down on the battery pack to be sure contacts on
the battery pack engage properly with contacts in the
battery port.
Latches should snap into place to ensure battery is cor-
rectly connected.
If desired, attach additional battery packs.
Do not place the waist belt in an area of extreme heat or
cold. It will work best at normal room temperature.
NOTE: Each of the battery ports are numbered on the
adaptor.
To remove a battery pack from the waist belt, depress the
latch and pull the battery pack away from the battery port.
WEARING AND ADJUSTING THE SHOULDER
STRAPS
See Figures 4 - 6.
Straps should be adjusted to a comfortable position before
operating a tool.
Use the adaptor clip on the back of the adaptor to hook
onto one of the adaptor clip loops on the waist belt as
shown.
To adjust shoulder straps and waist belt, slip an arm
through each of the shoulder straps and place them on
your shoulders.
Secure the waist strap.
Tighten or loosen the adjustable shoulder straps and
adjustable waist straps until the belt power supply rests
comfortably against the small of your back and the shoul-
der straps are secure
Secure the excess adjustable waist straps down with the
hook and loop retainer.
INSTALLING THE ADAPTOR INTO A TOOL
See Figure 7.
WARNING:
Always remove adaptor from your tool when you are
assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when
not in use. Removing adaptor will prevent accidental
starting that could cause serious personal injury.
To install adaptor:
Place the adaptor in the tool. Align raised ribs on adaptor
with grooves in the tool’s battery port.
WARNING:
Make sure the latch on the bottom of the adaptor snaps
in place and the adaptor is fully seated and secure in the
tool’s battery port before beginning operation. Failure to
securely seat the adaptor could cause the adaptor to fall
out, resulting in serious personal injury.
To remove adaptor:
Press and hold the latch at the bottom of the adaptor.
Remove adaptor from the tool.
BATTERY FUEL GAUGE
See Figure 8.
To display the amount of charge left in the battery, press
the charge level indicator button. In the event of an error in
discharge, the LEDs will flash the error code for at least 5
seconds.
